I saw Chante sing “As if we never met” live at an AIDS benefit in the early 90’s, from the 7th row, right after my partner was diagnosed with HIV/Aids….. I was sobbing, she has such a poignant, special voice,, no words can describe that moment!!! I’m glad you discovered her 30 plus years later!!

@Lesage Singing I love that you did this video.
Your UA-cam Channel is new to me, but THE Chante Moore is not. Her very first album, "Precious," was released in 1992. She has released seven studio albums since.
From the first time I heard her voice, to say that her singing is something special is a gross understatement.
I laughed when you said "She has tricks." Her singing voice is truly majestic, and I cannot help but notice that her first name, "Chante," comes from the French for "to sing." As in, "to sing more (Moore)," but I digress.

Ha, we had a heated back and forth in discord about headvoice and falsetto. I love how Dr Gillyanne Kayes puts it. "its the f word". It may be one of the most frequent and impassioned discussions in vocal pedagogy.
The connection between the folds, or lack there of, occurs on a continuum. So is falsetto 50% folds touching or 10%? Often times the head voice vs falsetto argument ends up being a matter of semantics and/or perspective. That was my rationale, but it most certainly can go the other way.

Your commentary is correct, sir. Over the years when I'm going through an intense period in my life, I see out music like this.

This is a fantastic reaction! I saw this performance recently and was simply awestruck by the multitude of techniques, the tone, control and range. Then to discover her age "56" and the amazing vocal qualities she maintains. Maybe even improved since her early singing days. She hasn't had the monstrous career of a Beyonce or Whitney. But I dear say her voice, the package is every bit as good. And possibly better because most female singers lose their vocal gifts by their mid to late 40s. At 56 her voice is better than her 20s and 30s. Mostly her technique is so very polished yet her original youthful vocal range and tone maintains. Chante had a very successful early music career, but wasn't provided the quantity and quality of songs Whitney and Beyonce received. If so the internet wouldn't keep saying she's underrated.
There's a video from NPR of Chante singing with and for Babyface...amazing and again flawless. She was singing songs written for Madonna and Whitney. He never thought to have written one for her???

I feel like 2 months ago I had an overwhelming desire to hear this song because of a young lady I was seeing and I couldn't stop listening to her body of work. Now it seems everyone is rediscovering her!!! She didn't get her proper accolades in the past because of singers such as Whitney and Mariah yet she is both talents in one besides her own natural down to earth tones, no screaming here a complete and well groomed Songstress!!!

Check out the work she did with her ex, Kenny Lattimore. Also her early work. Your reaction touched me deeply, I felt the same. Be encouraged that trouble does not last always! Thanks for this.

Why did you chop up her "live" performance so bad? You missed all the best parts!!! So disappointed!

She’s a singer from my childhood I got from my dad. Watch her episode of TERRELL and you’ll see why EVEN I WAS SHOCKED. Chante would blow your mind (She doesn’t stop)🤎♥️

Yesss finally! I was one of the people that ask you to do this song. I wish you would have listened to the best version but she still did what needed to be done. You rock thanks!

I’ve heard several of her versions of this song. They’re all different and unique, and that’s what makes it special and never redundant. Everytime she performs it, it’s fresh; something to get on the edge of your seat or sit back in your seat for. But, out of all the versions I’ve heard, this one is my favorite.
