I've tried everything, seems to help , it's the difference between mush and slightly less mush. You have to eat them right away or smoke them right away.
I freeze all my fish completely, fully fill your ziplock baggie fish then water ensuring you get air out and freeze solid, this is after soaking in table salt water overnight in fridge

I only freeze the pickling parts of the whitefish. The rest I eat fresh. Works for me!
