@@chanthreasor7511 but you can't apply Khmer words to English that way... you're writing into the English and when you convert it to English.. you must apply English rules. When you're reading via English it's pronounced incorrectly.
@@prakies75 I personally think (tohte) is too harsh. It's not pronounced that way either. Toch works better. And most Khmer people who read khmer may read the English better when it's written that way. Hence why so many Khmer people pronounce beach and church with a slight /k/ sound. That is what makes sense to them. There's no right and wrong honestly. But to Khmer people, that english written with the -ch makes more sense
@@chanthreasor7511 that's the problem though isn't it.. if you're going to use English letters.... they must apply English rules. Not up for debate. If people do it their own way.. then it's unreasonable for the collective to understand.
@@prakies75 I was just answering your question about why we spell it that way. They don't need to follow English rules. Other ethnicities like Koreans use Choi and Chinese Qing....they don't pronounce it that way either. But that is what makes sense to them as a collective whole. It's just that you might not know how to read in Khmer. And it doesn't make sense to you. Just because it's written in the English alphabet, it doesn't mean they have to follow their rules to the T. And actually to a certain extent, they are following the English rules. Just certain endings are spelled differently.
