I learned a lot from this. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Another helpful presentation, Thank you. I have an idea for another discussion topic, could you go through a recent harvest you brokered or one of you collogues have? Providing real world numbers? Maybe what the objectives were, species taken out, board ft, prices, everything like that? Seems that UA-cam has limited or no examples of actual harvests with real dollar figures. Obviously don't show any private info. Just a thought, thank you
Good suggestion. In that my role is education rather than technical service, I don't have access to what you seek. Such would come from the private sector. You may want to contact a private consulting forester for assistance.
Great presentation! 👍 It has been about 18 years since the book on BMP's was published. Are there any plans in the works to update this book with the most recent information? A lot has changed since 2003. Do most of these principles apply to pine as well?
The Tennessee BMP manual was created by the TN. Div. of Forestry and is still in use. I am not aware of any attempts to update it. Regarding the pine question, pine can be sold on sealed bid, but most pine is sold on a "pay as cut" basis.
If your top priority is wildlife, should you leave some mature Beech trees?
Absolutely! Beech nuts are favored by an array of wildlife. I am a very big supporter of having a diversity of tree species in the forest.
