i believe the freeze in 0-1 is caused by the game trying to load all of your weapons in at once thats why it doesnt happen on a new save

the cause is loading the map at once, not the weapons, because if you pick yes when you choose 0-1 and if it asks you to so the whole intro, before you pick up the revolver, it's a separate map from the actual map where enemies spawn, while as you pick no it's a shorter path unlike when you pick yes, so the map loads with an animation of the pedestal going down
