I’m so annoyed that people think he listened to the song beforehand. All James Bond songs have the same theme, of course he recognized that. After that he did his best to emulate what Billie Eilish would do this chord progression, and he’s talented so he was mostly right.

He's probably so head on this time, because it being a Bond song immediately gives it a certain vibe. And Kurt being a genius and knowing how Bond songs are built and how Billie songs are built had a lot to work with. Gotta love him

Because Disney songs are formulaic, to have wide appeal. This version is a tad similar, but my guess is that Billie put her stamp on it to avoid the Disney formula sound.

Did Kurt unknowingly listen to the song somewhere outside and he doesn't even recognize it? Because this sounds so freakin similar to the original
I think his explanations for why he chose certain melodies are pretty solid. Plus, there's not much else you can do with those particular chords.
To be fair, he not only had the chords and lyrics... but he knew it was a Billy Eilish song, it was a James Bond song and it was a cinematic song... so there were 3 elements that he knew would be in there and he's used to rewriting songs and analyzing music.... so when the song has to have 3 obvious elements along with the chords and lyrics given, it makes sense for it to be similar.

I think for those musicians watching -- the lesson to be learned, in addition to actually knowing what you are doing musically -- is make decisions fast. Notice how quickly he made decisions - he doesn't waste time concerning himself with "oh, is this really the best option?" He always moves forward and does this whole thing in one sitting basically. Of course, could be just the way the edited... maybe he did it beforehand and was just showing it after he already did it - but I doubt it. Anyways... if you are writing and producing music, don't get bogged down. Make decisions fast and MOVE.
It's also amazing how he DID get so close because he already has a good knowledge-base of what Billie does and the chords really do give a good idea of what to do melodically with those lyrics.
With how obsessed you are with Billie, I'm surprised you haven't heard the song yet... then again who knows when the video was filmed xD

How he specifically came to know that only Piano and some Orchestral instruments are used in the song as if you'll listen to other Billie songs, they always have multiple different instruments (electrical) but it's always hard to predict the instruments used.
Also how he guessed that FINNEAS didn't put much BASS in her song as he used to do before...???!??
Also, Billie usually whispers in her songs, but this time she sang very high, clear notes which is almost impossible to guess without listening to it.

Great as ever!!!! Since the "Yummy" remake he did, I've been worried that Kurt had stopped doing his "What if.." or "Remaking... Without Ever Hearing It" videos and has switched his methods once again. I had been really sad because his videos for the past nine months were sooo great, personally his best yet. this is a midi Keyboard connected to a PC. It could theoretically control a Synthesizer if you would load one on the pc, but the keyboard itself is a midi Keyboard (controller). You could never get strings sounding this good with a Synthesizer. He uses special programs (or plugins) for the strings and controls them with a keyboard :)
