Andy, for a guy who's mainly armor and dio builds, your Honda Fireblade turned out just jaw dropping to say the least. I'm getting one too since I recently got into Tamiya bikes as they are fabulous kits even straight from the box. I know you get a lot of requests but I think you should do a little more models with shiny paint jobs and sporty wheels.

Glad to see you building something other than armor. It shows off your skills and great to see you mix it up once in a while.

Nice to have you well and alive andback in your shop, doing tanks. I still remember your build vids when I restarted modelling. It was about the time you were shooting the Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV and the Vallejo scenic weathering products reviews with all the mud and splashes prdoducts. Still like all you doing. Keep it up and stay well.

I'm in the UK and dipped my toes into using Tamiya lacquer paints late last/early this year. I was sceptical, but after experimenting with them, wow what a revelation. Yes - in my opinion - they need airbrushing (after being thinned well) as they don't lend themselves to brush panting (other than picking out details say) and the colour range is limited, but I am sold on them. The colours I have so far used are beautiful paints, they go down well (airbrush don't forget) and dry rapidly, even with the retarder thinner, and dry smooth.
The Sparkling Silver in my opinion comes out almost as a metal finish, although perhaps for an all-over metal effect 'metal' paints would still be best, although are fragile and susceptible to damage. I won't stop using other paints but will certainly use Tamiya lacquers are now part of my paint ranges.

The lacquers don't need surfaces priming due to the solvent contained in the paint and thinners, this cleans, degreases and bonds to the surface similar to the cements. Priming is really for the acrylics or if the surface isn't quite smooth.
