I don't think anyone can sing , as Madurai Mani Iyar. Sublime Sankarabharanam. This video took me back to 1960-67 during which period I was fortunate to hear his concerts all over Madras & I seldom missed his concert. We even walked back to Westmambalam from Abhirampuram after attending his concert in Sankara Gurukulam . I don't see a replacement even in the horizon.
"Abosolutely...those words were and are sufficient to describe his beautiful singing. He was a great popular vocalist and even those uneducated folks were and are attracted and inspired with an intense, but short-lived passion, very much much eager to hear his singing. That is the 'litmus test!!! It is such an iirppu. (Attraction in English.) I admire all his songs especially his elaborate aalapanai, gamakanGaL, niravalGaL and so on and so worth. And his songs gave to all Carnatic Sangeeth rasikarGaL unlimited happiness. Thookkiya Sri Natarajanin thiruvadiGaKukku naamellaam charaN adaivOm. - "Mandakolathur Subramanian."

I am seeing GODESS SARASWTHI in MMI SONG & Voice.. I am very lucky in early days with good friends use to travelle to Mysore for every live concerts. Even today 55-56 years it is still fresh & murmuring in ears. My eyes continuesly flowing tears. Shata Shatha Pranam
I understand that Sri Madurai Mani Iyer sang this same song in Sankarabharanam in different concert for over two hours. He was such a resourceful person !
A great composition by a yogi Soulful singing by MMI another yogi This Krithi with Gopalakrishnan Bharathi’s Sabapathikku veru deviant is sufficient for our Janma to attain the Thiruvadi of lord Siva
Whenever i hear this i get tesrs in my eyes. MMI and team literally takes me to lotd Shiva. Mayavaram Govindaralillai is amazing and genius at work. God Bless
Shri Mani Iyer"s unique nerava technique MUST be maintained by us all for posterity. His 'ethanaiyo' neraval is reminiscent of his "Kalinirchilambu' I THODI. I am 89 and after decades in my vocal and violin for my own Aatmatrpti, I have been able to copy him + Lalgudi in that THAYE YASHODA piece. I inherited my 140 yrs old violin from my thatha through my Akka 12 yrs older. She insisted that I should NEVEREVER let it remain idle as an antique. That was thaths"s orders to her therefore to me ad well.I have done so so far by shamelessly copying from young/old via UA-cam and richly added to my aatmatrioti !! I hereby request EVERYONE professional or otherwise to maintain Madurai Shri Mani Iyer's gharana or bani and add to its appeal to rasikas. Mani iyer himself will love it wherever he may be and bless us
Madurai Mani Aiyer was/is an immortal genius. look at the way he is rendering "ETHANIYO" it is more than 85 times he repeats. But each time he sings this phrase it is different and no repetitions. I am sure Mani the great brought out Composer Papanasa Sivan real meaning of this song. Look at the appeal he makes in that phrase. any amount praise is not adequate to express the real enjoyment he gives.
He would have already surrendered to Lord Nataraja and the testimony is the way he is rendering these songs with which he is able to take us to the next level of realisation.
genius of MMI ! Who can measure , the ocean ? who can be equal to an ocean? only the ocean itself! "kadalluku , kadal thaan samaanam" .... each and every birth if one is given to express the infinite shades of "sankarabharanam" , so is his sankarabharanam , so profound , infinite , yet simple .
Divine Bliss...I think it is T.N.Krishnan on violin & Ramabadran (pretty sure)on Mirudhangam...Alangudi on Ghattam..??....what all round music.....you can hear to such a team all though your life non stop...such great Jambhavanans ...blessed to hear such music...a BIG THANK YOU for Sangeetha Rasika for uploading...please do so if you have more of such great music...

SUN and MOON don't have any replacement. They are God's embellishments!

WHAT A MULTI DIMENSIONAL MUSICIAN...ONE AND THE ONLY MADURAI...MANI..
MMI is beyond compare. No unnecessary 'gamakas' which impair 'sthanasuddham'. 'Kalpanaswaram' is just magical. Niraval is so creative. 🙏🙏🙏
MMI's niraval "ethanaiyo ..." unbelievable and takes one to another realm. Thanks.

His repeated ethanaiyo's is perhaps a stork reminder of the births we take and wallow in this Universe! Harahara!
