I think the wildfire and rapid fire performed best. The extra cost in the rapid fire is starting to look less and less appealing as other manufactures start to progress. However I thank rapidfire for forcing the industry to move forward faster. If I had to choose from the begining and cost was a factor I would go with wildfire. But since I have a rapidfire already I don't see the need to switch up unless another company destroys the rapidfires performance. Mute you still my favorite brotha.

Only other thing I can think of is maybe the voltage regulator of the Skyzone Module adapter cannot put out enough stable voltage and/or as close to 5V as necessary. This can cause performance issues with the Fusion as well. I am curious to know, if you have a multimeter you can easily measure the voltage while the module is running.
All of them appear with ghosting in high contrast scenes and it is most probably because I am capturing the live video feed of FPV monitors with my DSLR camera. Fusion and Rapidfire always output a bit darker image so ghosting is less pronounced, but I see it in each and every module I test.
I had used the MSU VQMT tool with a lot of fine tuning and analysis of blur and noise metrics. It is far from perfect and extremely time consuming to get right/accurate.

Thank you very much, I am happy you found it helpful! The Wildfire and the OwlRx are great value for money receivers but the IRC and TBS modules are a different thing. @@muteFPV no ...thank you!! , sensitivity and reception wise i liked very much the wildfire but you sad the IRC and TBS are a diferent thing , you mean you can fly far away ? or what exactly you mean. BEst R.
Range (distance) depends on a lot more factors than just the module itself. Aside from the various functionalities and features of the Rapidfire and Fusion modules, they are supposed to handle multipathing and difficult environments better. Just one more thing to note: their image is a bit dimmer compared to conventional modules because of the way they work, you can always adjust your goggle settings and brighten the image so that it looks more or less the same.
@@muteFPV ihh ic, i dont plan to do bando, i want to do medium range cruise and later on long range as i can build a 30 minute flyable quad :D ( and dough also.. lol )
And here I am still with my TrueD V2 trying to decide what to get after 2 years. Wanted to get Fusion but my CRSF JR adapter doesn't have wifi. Maybe I'll just go wildfire
Can't go wrong with the Wildfire, I used it a lot and was very happy with it. If you manage to find an OwlRx for cheap, I feel you will get more or less the same performance. It hasn't had any firmware updates lately but it does perform well as is.
I don't think that a test can be any more fair than this. Nice work! IMO the Wildfire is the clear winner when you consider that it has similar (if not better) image quality/ retention while being $30-$60 less than the others. It was weird to see the Rapidfire be the only one to completely drop out in a few spots. I haven't seen that before in other tests. Another thing that I'm a bit curious about -- do you think that the lighting is something that should be considered, or can each module achieve a similar look with some camera adjustments?
This is just one of many tests to come, I am not drawing any conclusions yet. I have used the Wildfire a lot and have been happy with it. The brightness is something you can compensate for in the goggle settings so it is not the decisive factor for me. Modules like the Rapidfire and Fusion can be affected by the combination of camera and VTx used - for this reason I will include more in the upcoming comparisons. Was the breakup you mentioned in mode 1 or mode 2?
bro, thank you for your sharing, your videos are always on top and very useful! I fly in rapidfire mode2 the quality is good but I have the impression that the fusion does the job better. (not the budget for dji)
Thank you very much! I have more tests planned for the Fusion, especially as the firmware evolves. COVID and the lockdowns have put everything on hold though, I can't wait to resume... Compared to how Rapidfire performed when it first launched, the Fusion feels a lot more mature. And knowing TBS, it will only get better. Have you ran into compatibility issues and have chosen to use Mode 2?
@@muteFPV thank you for taking the time to answer 💯💯👌 Yes I am in mode 2 and encountering difficulties in the forest at about 200m (vtx Rush Tank mini). i will modify the vtx by a unify and if no improvement then i would take the tbsfusion
Is the antenna on the quad in good condition? Are you using a pigtail or connected directly to the rush? Did you have better range with the same setup and now it has become worse? Just asking to make sure. Swapping to a different (new) VTx always helps troubleshoot. Kokobloko (local pilot) who does the flying in our module comparisons had replaced the VTx in his beat up quad a while back and the performance improvement was impressive, at the same power (200mW for our tests).
@@muteFPV Yes, the antenna is a Triumph pro tbs. I use a pigtail: / I will already change the antenna to see if there is a difference and then I will modify the vtx. Alright, that's good to know. Hello and thank you! I am not sure how much interest there is for analog modules anymore... I want to do a few specific test scenarios at some point but probably not just to compare modules.
@@muteFPV There interest is still there :) I am super curious how they perform after 2 years, because I have seen that wildfire compared by other guys performs a bit worse than on Yours videos, so I am curious, It does not have to be super long run, it can be 5 mins test. I would like to buy one because ATM I am using RapidMIX with all that color distortions and screen flickering - its a nightmare. Anyway good job :)
Noted, thank you for the input. Even a 5 minute video means hours of preparation, setting up and editing, so the duration of the final video is irrelevant :)
@@muteFPV I know mate, but what can I say, I can just gently ask for a comparison after 2 years, there is none on YT, and I think that make sense to do a new updated one, don't You think? Anyway what is Your pick? Wildfire looks very good in Your video and it's cheaper, but what is Your pick for 2022? Thanks
No worries, I just meant that it doesn't have to be a short video if it happens :) I had been very happy with the Wildfire when I used it as my main module. I haven't compared it or used it myself recently but it is a very good option. One way to look at it, if your budget is tight, is that it is better to get the Wildfire with a set of good antennas than a better module and mediocre antennas. Also if you want various features and are in the TBS product "ecosystem", it makes sense to go the TBS route instead of IRC.
Did you test the screens with a controlled nstc or pal signal? I would imagine there could be some variance in their ability to decode the ntsc or pal signals coming out of the modules. If so, were they all comparable?
When I made this test rig I had tried plenty of different monitors before choosing these. I then ran multiple tests, with different setups (both PAL and NTSC), swapping around the modules and their antennas, until I could confirm uniformity of the results and start publishing content using this test rig. There have been a lot of tests that were never published in a video, just to make sure that none of the module bays of the test rig hinders the performance of the module in any way. And I still swap the modules around whenever I add a new module to the tests. I wouldn't release a comparison without being sure about the results. Now whether the monitors show exactly what the goggle screens show, is a whole different and long discussion. I have done such a comparison in the past using a borrowed GoPro that was not set up as well as I would like. I have new footage related to this and will probably include it in a new video at some point.
@@muteFPV Awesome. Sounds like you've done your due diligence. I suppose no test is perfect but it sounds like you do have a well established baseline in your rig.
Perhaps a good test would be to compare HDO2 to Orqa etc as far as they're capability to decode a variety of video signals. In other words, it seems each module puts out slightly different characteristics according to the hardware/software design differences from each company. I saw a video showing how the true-d x is very different than rapidfire.
If I manage to get my hands on the ORQAs, sure. Not sure how accurate of a comparison it can be, it depends on how significant the differences are (if any). I have 2x Wildfire modules (thanks to Foxeer and Banggood) and 2x Fusion modules (thanks to TBS) and intend to run a few side-by-side tests like the ones I did with Rapidfire in the past.
Indoor mode has been problematic in the last few firmware versions. I tried both and only got usable results in outdoor mode, indoor was complete garbage. I have not been satisfied by the TrueD-X at all.
Really great stuff! I had noticed how well the owlrx did in other videos and its good to see you recommending it. But it looks like they dont make it anymore? (new to this..) Looking forward to more tests
@@muteFPV Just found this on their facebook group page from April: Owlrc we will no longer to produce owlrx after we cleaned our stock. demand is decreased and digital receiver is the future, so Its no need to keep going..
hello, thanks for the super work you do, super pro video (and the incredible music) a question, does the wildfire need any mod for power on the fatshark hd3? or is it plug and play? And another thing, if I use an adapter on the market for dji modules and glasses, do I have to do the power mod (if I used rapidfire for example)? Thank you!! here a sub from a long long time ago, cheer up and keep it up !! your channel is one of the most original
Thank you very much for your kind words! I don't have exact info on optimal voltage range but I suspect it is same or similar to the OwlRx so very wide range - you don't need a power mod for the HD3, I used it with mine and it worked very well. As for the second question I am sorry but I did not understand. You mean an adapter to use an analogue module on the DJI goggles?
muteFPV Yes, I mean to use the dji fpv googles with an adapter for analog modules that are on the market. And in fatshark hd3, is the mod totally necessary to be able to use rapidfire? I have both glasses and I am thinking of buying a new module but the question is whether wildfire for the adapfor or rapidfire module. and of course use it tb in the fatshark (currently I continue with my true d 3.6 and it goes well) Thanks for the answer !!
For the HD3 you can use the auxiliary power board that comes with the Rapidfire module, if you don't want to do the power mods. I have not used any of the analogue adapters for the DJI goggles so I would suggest looking for feedback from people that have used this setup - it is very important for the Rapidfire that the voltage is stable and as close to 5V as possible.
@@marionavaibanez8225 I expect it to be worse, but it would be nice to test anyways. Since I have no idea what the difference is with a Wildfire (or other) , there is not incentive for me to pay the money and do the upgrade.
There is no single answer when it comes to VRx modules. It all depends on what you need, in terms of features and performance. You don't always need the best of the best for the type of flying you do. These tests take a lot of time and effort to perform and my test rig only has 4 module slots. I won't be testing the AttV5 module anytime soon, that is for sure :P
You do not List equipment used e.g antennas, flight controllers, RX,TX, ELRS, or only TBS Modules etc btw did you try the KISS ULTRA FCFC to help with the distortions?
The things that are tested and compared are the VRx modules. All the rest remain the same so that the modules are the only variable. I don't understand why you would need to know the FC or radio receiver used on the quad, for example. I list the details that are relevant (modules, VTx and antennas) in the beginning of the video.
Ah nice, I should have written it in the test setup section too though. As for the rolling, I can't remember, it has been a long time. You can check the full flight footage near the end of the video. I wish I could be more helpful :)
This is just one scenario (solo freestyle flight at a bando), more will follow. Is wildfire the one you would be willing to put your money on, after this comparison?
The winner is the one that looks better to your eyes so yeah :) More comparisons will follow, the lockdown here has delayed many of my plans for the channel.
@@muteFPV its so hard to tell but im not a fanboy of for any brand. I just want the best analog image possible. I enjoy didgital as well just not the coin it cost to throw an air unit or Vista in everyone of my builds
I am very tempted by digital but I am on the same boat as you are (plus I fly a lot of micros and whoops). As for the modules, both the Rapidfire and the Fusion are very capable. Rapidfire has matured a lot after many firmware updates and Fusion started off very well (and will also evolve and improve based on user feedback). If you already use TBS gear, the Fusion would definitely be the better option. Wildfire performs surprisingly well in these "solo" tests (1 pilot and 1 quad in the air) and reminds me of the OwlRX in performance. I have used it a lot and have enjoyed it very much too. Just one more thing to note: their image is a bit dimmer compared to conventional modules because of the way they work, you can always adjust your goggle settings and brighten the image so that it looks more or less the same.
@@muteFPV ihh ic, i dont plan to do bando, i want to do medium range cruise and later on long range as i can build a 30 minute flyable quad :D ( and dough also.. lol )
amazing test mate!
Thank you very much!
@@muteFPV Thank you very much for the input, I really appreciate it!
You're welcome :)
@@muteFPV Mostly mode 1 (6:06 as an example), but it was pretty bad in mode 2 at 5:33. Looking forward to the other vids!
@Michael mode 1 is more susceptible to incompatibilities, I will include more types of cameras / VTx in the next comparisons.
bro, thank you for your sharing, your videos are always on top and very useful!
I use a pigtail: /
I will already change the antenna to see if there is a difference and then I will modify the vtx. Alright, that's good to know.
Here is the setup:
Shendrones Squirt v2
Stack mamba f405 Mk1
BrotherHobby Tornado T1 1407 4100Kv
Predator v5 micro
Vtx Rush Tank mini
TBS nano RX
TBS Triumph pro
HQPROP DUCT-75MMX6
4s 1500mah
Sounds like a very nice setup! Also try another pigtail (if you have one) and let me know how your troubleshooting goes!
Ωραίος!! Πολύ καλή δουλεία ; )
Ευχαριστώ πολύ!
Just so I'm 100% sure, top left = TBS Fusion, top right = Rapidfire, bottom left = Wildfire, bottom right = True D, yes?
No. Bottom left is TrueD-X and bottom right is Wildfire.
Any updates/upgrading years later
Sorry for the late response, I have not flown for quite a while so I have no idea how these perform on their latest firmware.
@@muteFPV likewise.. hopefully someday, soon again..
Please try running 25mW instead of 200. I'm curious if statics would decrease. Thanks for the efforts !
It will make it impossible for the pilot KokoblokoFPV to fly around this location. We already sit separately for this reason, giving him better video feed in his goggles than in my test rig.
I bought a wf because of ur test 👍💸
Only rssi osd is flickering 🙋
In the DVR or Live Feed?
@@muteFPV like in this amateur test ua-cam.com/video/HuVmq44u7RQ/v-deo.html 🙌
Live feed
hmm I will look into it. Which goggles are you using? Is your gear PAL or NTSC? The image is fine, only rssi osd flickers?
@@muteFPV dji ,dockking lite, ntsc on pal also flicker, yes image good only wf osd flicker, i try power dockk with wf and dji goggles with same lipo , it dosnt help, i turn rssi off 🙈,
good work !!! Thanks !!
Hey man, this was great. I dont know if you have noticed that the Rapidfire on 1.3.2 if you have the osd turned on with the rssi bars and happiness bar. The top rssi bar will go to 100% when close to the vtx. The bottom rssi bar never goes above 80%. Just interested if you have noticed the same thing?
Thank you! Don't worry about the RSSI bars, it is normal. I found the post from Tony Cake himself for you to read (if you don't have Facebook let me know): m.facebook.com/groups/immersionrchub/permalink/737357943710441/
Sweet I really appreciate that. thank you for the link.
You're welcome!
Are you going to test clearview module, clearview groundstation and steadyview (sky04x) ? Thank you
I don't have either of those and I doubt I will be buying them or that I will receive them for testing...
Hello, great test, but could You do the same thing after 2 years? With all fw updates? Cheers
I have 2x Wildfire modules (thanks to Foxeer and Banggood) and 2x Fusion modules (thanks to TBS) and intend to run a few side-by-side tests like the ones I did with Rapidfire in the past.
is the true d on indoor mode or out door mode as indoor had better pickup
Indoor mode has been problematic in the last few firmware versions. I tried both and only got usable results in outdoor mode, indoor was complete garbage. I have not been satisfied by the TrueD-X at all.

Really great stuff! I had noticed how well the owlrx did in other videos and its good to see you recommending it. But it looks like they dont make it anymore? (new to this..) Looking forward to more tests
This is what I thought too but I was told that it is still being sold, but not overseas due to the current situation, at least for the time being.
@@muteFPV Just found this on their facebook group page from April:

You're welcome!
i guess its time fo rme to upgrade my skyzone o3o goggles with tbs fusion module
I am sure you will enjoy it! The 03O need the extra module bay, right? Or do they have modular bays? I don't remember

superb content as always
Thank you very much!
hello, thanks for the super work you do, super pro video (and the incredible music) a question, does the wildfire need any mod for power on the fatshark hd3? or is it plug and play?
I wonder how the Fatshark Attitude V5 default module would compare to these ones ? :|
Bad, I can tell you XD
@@marionavaibanez8225 I expect it to be worse, but it would be nice to test anyways. Since I have no idea what the difference is with a Wildfire (or other) , there is not incentive for me to pay the money and do the upgrade.
@@ChrisGripeos well, the incentive is you know it will be better for sure...
@@muteFPV Understandable. Thanks for the reply! Your work is much appreciated :)
I list the details that are relevant (modules, VTx and antennas) in the beginning of the video.
signal penetration seems the problem
I think you have missed the point of this video
@@muteFPV distortion in all screens at the same time, not one screen better than the other.
So you don't notice any difference between these modules? They all perform the same and have the same breakup?
Which cam did you use?
Hello! I can't find my notes for this test, I will have to check my archives and get back to you.
@@muteFPV Don't stress it says Falkor 2 in the middle of the screen like half way through👍
@@muteFPV I am interested though, do you remember if any cams caused screen rolling with these modules? Specifically with Fusion?
Ah nice, I should have written it in the test setup section too though. As for the rolling, I can't remember, it has been a long time. You can check the full flight footage near the end of the video. I wish I could be more helpful :)
Really good job.

I would rate Fusion > Wildfire > Rapidfire > TrueD from being able to discern video in worst case scenarios.
Thank you for the input. More tests will follow, this is just one "scenario".
My googles box: hold my beer

Wildfire wins?
This is just one scenario (solo freestyle flight at a bando), more will follow. Is wildfire the one you would be willing to put your money on, after this comparison?
@@muteFPV I want Rapidfire, but seems Wildfire works very well
I have been happy with it, it performs almost the same as the OwlRx
Fusion
Wildfire/Rapidfire
TrueD
Thank you for the input! Did you also consider the features that the modules have to offer or just their performance in this comparison?
cool msuic!
thanks, you can find the details at the end of the description as always
Wow wildfire is clearly the winner no?
You will be very satisfied whichever you choose but it mostly depends on your needs.
