But her singing in her early movies was pure storytelling; she captivated audiences to point where time seem to standstill when she sung and you not only believed every word, you were engrossed in it. You have this gift. It's a gift to not only have the gift, but to recognize it and honor it and humbled by it. The factor for me was asher’s performance of irreplaceable. I felt the exact same way that I felt about Jennifer Hudson when she sang I’m not going and that is… I was watching a star born during that performance
I felt Asher was the most deserving winner and his performances each week were stellar. But I'm going to be honest and confess that I did not vote for him. My first choice throughout the season was Tae Lewis, whose personality and enthusiasm just won me over. And I was quite annoyed with Reba when she paired the two of them together in the knockouts. I was feeling a bit like Denton was - not sure if America would really get behind Asher just based on appearance. Chance even referenced it on the finals but I was very happy when he endorsed Asher and said "you should win The Voice." I wish Asher all the best and I hope he gets to travel outside of Selma a lot more now.
