    I have looked at several sources, but I haven't seen any other video that was able to solve this Proxmox non-subscription version updating issue like yours. Excellent job!

    Thanks for the video Tim. I updated my Proxmox to 7.4 by following your guide and also noticed the repos have changed slightly on the Proxmox wiki.

      @@TechnoTim Maybe (if u kno how) u could make a video about routing all traffic thru the virtual pfsense router without extra nics. So only 1 nic on the whole machine. If possible that is.

  • @travelvideos7999

    The real difficult and often case is when Proxmox installs, but wouldn't boot. Then one is simply stuck and would need to install from bare metal with formatting a disk. It's probably generic to all Linux kernel upgrades, but one needs to know that it's not more smooth with Proxmox, than with a regular Linux upgrade.

    Comment out the enterprise repo line if you are not using it, that will stop that error showing up every time you update.

    Yeap, it works like charm, I have another question, I need to install a module and the instructions says this:
    Ensure your kernel has the following options enabled:
    CONFIG_FTRACE=y
    CONFIG_KPROBES=y
    CONFIG_PCI_QUIRKS=y
    CONFIG_KALLSYMS=y
    CONFIG_KALLSYMS_ALL=y
    CONFIG_FUNCTION_TRACER=y
    I already installed the headers, but where I can check the kernel options to see if those options are enabled o not? thank you in advance...

    After updating the apt configuration (and comment out the commercial subscription), why not use the GUI?
    Click on your proxmos server host in the server view (usually named "pve"), click on Updates in the node view.
    You now have "Refresh" and "Upgrade" at the top to do your proxmox update.

    Hey Techno Tim,
    Thanks for all the great videos to help us understand Proxmox. I have a question about monitoring. I use netdata in a docker for my monitoring of a current Linux (omv) server. I will be moving that to a dedicated proxmox vm. How do you monitor your proxmox server? I like grafana and netdata for their graphs and I wanted to know how to get thode working on proxmox. is there something like that apart from the native proxmox gui? Thanks

    Is your background in IT or are you a self taught hobbyist? I find your tutorials very informative. I am upgrading a 2009 MacPro to twin 6 core and 64 gigs memory. I plan on making it my PROMOX 101. I am also building an AMD RYZEN 7 2700 with 32 gig ddr4 memory. I thought for virtualization the MacPro would give me more room for running more VM. Looking to have running constantly FreeNas and backups of all local computers especially my PHOTOGRAPHER wife's IMAC.

    Would it be best to shutdown any vm's before updating/restarting or does Proxmox handle this all by itself?

    • @HaloWolf102
      @HaloWolf102 8 місяців тому

      Oh, he means from the server itself. You'll have to hook up a keyboard and monitor for that. Unless there is some other way to remotely do that.
      Edit: Ah, from the Terminal of the computer. I got it. If you are on Linux. Hit 'ctrl+alt+t' and your terminal window will pop up. If you are on Windows search for 'cmd'. Then proceed to follow.

    • @TechnoTim

      File Name to Write: /etc/apt/sources.list. I pressed Ctrl+T. And selected the same file.
