Good to see Nokie & Don getting along on stage. I just finished reading a fantastic book (Walk Don't Run- The Story of The Ventures) that I found on Amazon. I learned more cool stuff about them that most fans have never heard about. That bass player is Nokie's cousin, and he owns a music store there in Puyallup, WA.
Nokie's nephew on bass. J.C. McCormick. I am friends with him and his wife. I was sitting on the ground in front of this stage in Puyallup during Meeker Days. I also helped round up the stool that Nokie was sitting on. 😀
Yeah, he usually plays guitar, but when you're lucky enough to have Nokie Edwards and Don Wilson on stage, you don't need another guitar player, so Chris jumped at the chance to play the drums. He hadn't been on kit in about 2 years and only had about 24 hours to prepare, so he was pretty pleased with himself for pulling it off.
Nokie did have hip issues at some point and the replacement did him in, similar to ZZtop bassist. I think the bassist for Vanilla Fudge was in accident which may have contributed to his death.
Fantastic guitar picking by these Icon musicians and great drummer too. The Ventures without the Orchestra backing still spectacular.

Excellent. thanks. Loved them when I was just a kid.
Thanks, Steve. This was especially fun for Chris because he never gets to play the drums -and you know how much fun it is to play the drums :)

Why is Nokie sitting?

JC was the weak link here.
