This is ways better than when I was in Vietnam 5 years ago. The ambulance is going to take 30+ minutes to arrive, so people normally transporting people using the cab (the streets were narrow and clogged with people). Even, I didn't know that you have to yield the ambulances until I see it in America. It's not all about education in this case, it's about the community that we're living in
Yes I know, that is a good system. Driver education is also very good in Germany. Unfortunately there are selfish people who do not follow the rules all over the world... Thanks for the comment! :)

3:20 it's very wierd to see 2 very very different styles of ambulance passing each other. One large, American, loud crazy siren, the other small, Japanese, soothing harmonic Hi-Lo siren Gotta say I really love the Japanese hi-lo
Yea it’s a weird contrast, Ho Chi Minh City is the perfect place to find odd things like that. I am honestly not a fan of the Japanese ambulances and hi-lo siren. It doesn’t have enough urgency, that’s why most people just ignore it.
Thanks man! I know right, I was like whaaaat when I saw that thing drive by haha Apparently there is one private hospital/ clinic that runs this ambulance in Saigon.
Awesome, it's finally been edited and uploaded! Should totally put it into a blu-ray package with the Lifesavers of Saigon documentary and sell that lol (hmm emoji) One point I'd like to elaborate on that was briefly mentioned in the vid is to NEVER overtake an emergency vehicle in traffic. If there is a red light ahead, you will only be adding to the cluster of vehicles that needs to move out of the way for the emergency vehicle, plus you never know what is in front of the emergency vehicle (could be an accident, more traffic etc.). While there were definitely a fair share of frustrating moments in this one (I was pulling on my hair when i saw the clusterf*** of vehicles and people at the ER), I think this video highlights some of the ways Saigon is moving in the right direction (e.g. the way EMR*9999 is doing things, and the way some motorists react to the ambulance).
I am Vietnamese, when I watched the video, I was very pissed off for not giving way to the priority vehicle, sorry for such uncivilized drivers, I was very ashamed
Thank you for the comment! *9999 does a great job and has introduced a new standard of emergency care to Vietnam. Not the worst conditions in this video, but I’ve definitely seen worse. Loud sirens/ horns can be counterproductive in Vietnam as the majority of the population don’t really understand their purpose and will most likely be confused/ scared (might even crash their mopeds in front of the ambulance) instead of moving out of the way.
Thanks man! Yea takes a lot skill and concentration to navigate that crazy traffic in a large ambulance. Hmm this video doesn’t show the worst of it, people can be a LOT more reluctant to move.
@@taile2482 Ha ha, guess that. I am Vietnamese. I also have some clips about this special ambulance on my channel. Bạn tìm từ khóa "Xe cứu thương FMP" trên UA-cam là ra nha
I got an easy fix for all of the people that don't move out of the way, do what our emergency vehicles do here in the United States blast the air horn although like you said in the video that everyone there isn't used to loud noises but it's about time they learn how to move....so use the horn.
Yes, using the horn can be very effective, even in Vietnam. However it is up to the driver to decide how to use the siren based on the current situation. Since there are a lot of motorbikes on the road in Vietnam they can easily be scared by a sudden loud horn, which could cause an accident, and that would not help anyone either. Take a look at me using the horn in this video: ua-cam.com/video/3dRwRazS6-A/v-deo.html
@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses it's unbelievable how many people operate motorbikes over there, it must be very easy for anyone to get a license for them compared to here in the states. For any type of vehicle here it's a long difficult process for us to be a licensed vehicle operator especially motorbikes or as we call them motorcycles. The driving school in Vietnam should properly teach driver's that they need to yeld to emergency vehicles , I feel bad for everyone that needs emergency assistance.
Theo mình nghĩ ad cứ thấy ai cản trở xe ưu tiên cứ quay hết biển số xe của những người đó gửi lên công an quận hoặc thành phố để tổ giao thông họ gửi biên bản phạt tiền những người đó
I dont understand why they feel the need to use the hazards continously when driving isnt the emergency lights enough? , how is everyone else supposed to know where the ambulance wants to go?
Wow, finally asian countries are starting to shape up their ems fleets. Even though this is an intensive care ambulance, this is still remarkable for the city and to hear an actual siren and not the joke that most use. (I understand that some cities just don't have a budget, but this is nice to see)
If you are talking about Asia in general then there are quite a few countries that have good EMS systems/ resources. Such as Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, parts of mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore. Vietnam has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to international standards, but at least some organizations, like *9999, are making a difference.
6:00 People hold their ears because the siren is loud. I have sensitive ears and it does hurt if an ambulance passes close and if I would never hold my ears when there's a loud noise, then eventually my hearing would deteriorate.
People are allowed to hold their ears, but they should prioritize getting out of the way before doing that. It’s not ok to be holding your ears, and giving the ambulance angry looks, while blocking it with your bike... (that happens quite often)
I mean its vietnam , most people’s awareness is very low so yeah it wouldn’t be a suprise if I saw people didnt make way for ambulances to get through. Sad fact but true
It comes down to education, awareness and understanding. There are people all over the world who are selfish and indifferent, but with the right awareness for how and why the majority of people will change their ways.
I have to disagree on that one. Since regular sirens already confuse people the Rumbler would be even more confusing in Vietnam. Sudden loud noises, like an airhorn, can easily startle the many motorbike drivers, so that would probably be too dangerous to use at this point. You can see me make good use of the bullhorn (electronic siren horn) in this video: ua-cam.com/video/3dRwRazS6-A/v-deo.html
To be honest, I wouldn’t really care about people’s ears and focus on my patient. Get to the hospital and use as much bullhorn I need. But I do understand the siren policies
This driver needs educating in the sensible use of sirens and when to change tones. Also, once you arrive at the receiving hospital, turn your lights and sirens off.
Heli-Crew HGS How so...? Please do explain. The siren was turned off upon arrival at the hospital. Only necessary siren blips were used to clear the path to the emergency room.
Watch out!! We’ve a real keyboard ambulance driver here!! Let the man do his job.. he’s trained up to his countries standard for it... now go and play your game...
having a police escort would have made the task easier because police are good at directing traffic, and directing traffic away from the ambulance and it would clear a path for it to follow.follow
People don’t care all over the world. We were trying to make a left turn, and a car coming towards us didn’t stop. It was night, and our lights were on, so it was impossible NOT to see us. We gave them the train horns, but still...
