I will always love Artamonova, Thiechenko, Godina, Sokolova and Gratcheva. These women marked an era and conquered fans all over the world. I'm Brazilian and I love the players from that time of the Brazilian team but I really admire these legendary players of the Russian team, great talents.

It would be most heartbreaking for Russia two years later in Athens. The final match there between Russia and China was epic. That is my 2nd favorite mach of all time. My most favorite is the legendary win by Russia's Men's Volleyball Team over Brazil in the gold medal match of the 2012 Olympics.
That game was incredible. Russia came back from the grave. My favorite Russian game is the semifinal in 2004 between Russia and Brazil. Gamova and Sokolova were amazing

China was lucky 2004....they were sure losing in the final zero two down and somehow they have won but it was not by skill but by pure luck...US American Coach Jenny Lang Ping is great, great coach otherwise USA won't use her before Karch Kiraly. She is like old Chinese Scientists returning home for Atomic Bomb research...hsue tsien or chia hsien or sun li jen... USA could have kept her as Kiraly assistant but she voluntarily left USA....pity she returned home instead of staying at us colleges..... well Russia could improve Beach... their gym athletes are superb but Beach volleyball needs development there in this cold country. indoor beach for Russia... Russia really takes Volleyball seriously not like others. Wilt Chamberlain played high class hall of fame Volleyball after his active carreer just for fun in his leisure time and was one of the best. noone really takes girls sport seriously except Asians and Russia... this contacless sport are more athletic now but missing action ... that was why Kevin loves father played with wilt chamberlain..... even shaq did it with may traynor welsh jennings rodgers dallhauser.... to jeremy lin: sorry sir there s no volleyball tonight in this gym.... Basketball is more popular by sponsors and marketing product.... Volleyball still has an image as girls game.... not in Russia.... Russia males men take it seriously and other east europeans Poland Bulgaria ex former Yugoslavia.... All these cold Russians need Beach and indoor beach especially.

Both teams were at their best, and eventually came down to Russian team making that communication error that lead to China taking home the final golden match point.
