I saw the anime and read the manga, and I have to say, the first season of the anime was great, but it's nothing compared to later parts of the story. The second season is already starting to show what this story is actually like, but it will get worse (in a good way). Overall it's a great show, highly recommend you to watch it!

There are various fun, complex characters and it has such unique world building that I instantly fell in-love with it. If you like anime about the supernatural/occult, there's so many out there! A lot of anime show off Japanese mythologies and folklore so choosing a show just depends on what you want out of it. Something more horror, slice-of-life, action-packed? Just say which and I'm sure your viewers could suggest a specific show. An old anime series called "Jigoku-sensei Nube" is gonna have a remake so that's one recommendation from me. Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun shows off supernatural characters related to the seven mysteries of the protagonist's school (with Hanako himself being the 7th). "Seven Mysteries/Wonders" is an urban legend that many Japanese schools have in real life which are about supernatural/occult stuff related to these places so each school has it's own list of 7 mysteries. A lot of anime have episodes/arcs where the characters deal with their school's own seven mysteries (TBHK has it as an entire premise). Also, the ED singer is the voice actor of one of the protagonist. She also sang ED 1 for this show.
Definitely recommend checking out the first opening from season 1 like everyone else. The show itself is awesome! Beautiful visuals and adorable characters, yet the show has a unnerving dark vibe throughout. The plot is fun and and mysterious, and the twists always manage to catch you off guard! I adore tbhk!! The singer for the s1+s2 is the voice actor for the main character, and nearly all of the characters va’s are trained singers/idols!! The music of tbhk and all of its cast are honestly such a wonder. Even the music of the stageplay it got a while back is such a treat! I have read the manga. Don't think I will be watching season 2 since I mostly don't read watch the animes of mangas that I have read. But damn, the fact that they put THAT plot point in season 2 is crazy. And just to learn that in the manga order it would have needed to be in season 1 too.

Easy to miss that detail because the artist credited for the songs is actually the name of the mc, Tsukasa. As for Masayoshi Oishi, his best works in my opinion are those from romcoms.
