- Why did Rembrandt paint himself as a disciple of Christ in his painting The Storm on The Sea of Galilee? Why is he holding onto his hat and a rope on the boat? In this program we investigate the major challenges Rembrandt faced in his life and how he coped with the roughest times in life.
The painting The Storm on the Sea of Galilee by Rembrandt is now featured in Netflix documentary This Is A Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist.
How on earth did you animate the painting that way? Fantastic!
The most beautiful paintings l have ever seen and held
I think Rembrandt included himself in the painting because he wanted to say that his own faith was also lost or challenged during trying times. The sailors aren't just made up characters, they are him as well. And I can deeply relate.
Powerful message
Absolutely touching. Thank you and may God bless...
Very inspiring piece with a very inspiring message. #PeaceBeStill
The most useful explanation of the painting on youtube THANK YOU!!
You're very welcome!
I watched a documentary on the art heist during which this was stolen and they showed this painting. I immediately bought a print. I love this painting. Definitely my favorite!
I'm an artist ...a client had me so this painting for only 75US dolla ...and I could paint the deciples faces properly ...now I'm more professional I'll redo them ...btw I never sold the painting to the guy after he find fault on it ...researching on the history of this piece made me feel so special that I actually recreate the piece and the original is lost
I'm reading the gardner heist and wanted to know more about this painting. This video spoke to me,especially in this trying time of covid. I'm praying soon there will be calm.
Great commentary!
Very good sharing. It makes me relate to the story happened at that time.
My go to UA-cam video. What an inspiring message
Thank you very much for this video ! The analysis is correct ! This is one of my favorite paintings ! I hope she will be found. His disappearance adds to his mystery !
I love this painting... so in awe!
The Lord only gives a man what He knows he can handle.
Amen to that, be strong and weather the storm and don’t forget you’re never alone in this journey 🙏✝️

Was the painting recovered
A truly great video. One day the cynics will bow their head.
Yes!
Yes!!
At the time of this painting Rembrandt had no children. Maybe this is more like Divine foreshadowing???
I would like to have my mini art opinion shared, no religious backstory, this painting is targeting life views, the bright side with people doing their best, and the dark side with people feeling taken by fear.
This painting is from Mark 4:35-41. In v35 Jesus says to the disciples “let’s go the the other side of the lake.” The disciples had either forgotten Jesus said that or didn’t believe him. Jesus spoke the storm into being to test the disciples. Storms come in our lives and we have to remember what Jesus said, we are going to the other side of the lake. This is a fantastic painting and depicts so much, which person do you relate to? All have their own way of dealing with the storm. Judas I believe is depicted next to Rembrandt with his back to Jesus.
