All the same exact reasons every generation had teens that were experimenting with drugs.
We have allllll done something. Smoked pot, drank alcohol. There was a lot of acid around me as teen.
This is definitely an issue because NONE of these deaths by poison were expecting to die.

My daughter is 31 and very street-savvy-or so I thought. I find out she purchased a Xanax from someone. I was like "WTF are you doing?! C'mon you know better!" She replied, "Mom, stop. I know him. It's a real pill." Then my mind shut off and all I heard her say was, "blah blah blah blah" I literally BEGGED her to please stop trusting people and to go to the doctors if you need meds for her panic disorder. Like I was pleading with her. She listened. But she's an adult, not a teen, so her reasoning powers are better developed. So, so, scary. 😢

The problem is….doctors in certain states will not prescribe “controlled” medications unless you are in their system.. Ma’am if your daughter needs meds, please have her go to a primary doctor and tell them what’s happening. It is way to easy for anyone to get fake pills. They need to understand. NOBODY ON THE STREET HAS LEGAL XANAX! PERCOSET, ADDEROL, OXYCONTIN, or HYDROCODONE or any other drug they are looking for. This needs to known to all teenagers.

Yes they knew he was in trouble. For weed with his parents. That's exactly why they didn't call them when he took a pill and passed out.
They weren't thinking of dying. They were children, ffs.
This kid was messed up. "If I can't smoke weed, you have to let me drink", wth??
Even his parents couldn't handle him and you think a bunch of kids should have??
The first thing you learn in the drug world is to not rat out.
He was the obvious ring leader, so you expect them to rat him out??
This was probably very traumatic for them too. I hope so much they won't ever touch illegal substance again.

@@principecaprincipeca2243 Um, you weren't there. And you're assuming and making up a lot of information. The incident was unusual enough for them to call another friend about it, but not anyone for help. And they knew it was experimenting, like you say him being the ring leader. So some community service about awareness at least would be mild. He died and they participated. And again, what do you call that? Just being kids? You talk about his parent's negotiations being not cool (I agree) while you're an adult (?) making excuses for his friends who again, had knowledge of illegal activity and were involved in this incident. In any other criminal behavior, having knowledge is enough to be charged as an accomplice.

To some extent, I think it's high time we have that sort of spirited debate regarding just what the hell we're supposed to do about this problem. Looks like wonderful family, and it breaks my heart hearing and seeing their story, feeling their loss.

I think one of the biggest issues I experienced growing with drug education is that everything illegal is haphazardly grouped into something like "Don't ever do any drugs, they'll ruin your life and you'll end up with no friends in the gutter or worse." Teenagers are always going to experiment and most likely will come across things like cannabis, nicotine, alcohol etc. It almost sets young people up to think "If they say that about weed than maybe these other substances I've been lied to about too." Give young people all the info without the scare tactics! Some drugs are normal to experiment with others should be avoided at all costs.

I watch these because I have small children & want to be prepared. One thing I have noticed is that when the parents really clamp down on all freedoms & specifically outlaw marijuana it often leads to these fentanyl overdoses. I’m Not blaming the parents for their kid’s overdose. It’s just a pattern I have noticed watching these videos. Makes me wonder if it’s a better idea to not freak out about marijuana. These parents said he ended up looking for pills because they are odorless… I’d rather have my kid pick a few buds off of a backyard plant. (The dispensaries only sell weed that is crazy strong… My Colorado neighbors all have some weed growing in their backyard gardens and it is mellow) I’d rather my kids mess with that than alcohol or any pill

    • @TexasPictures

Without information about how many parents "clamp down on all freedoms & specifically outlaw marijuana" with success, we can't know if "it often leads to these fentanyl overdoses." There just isn't enough information to draw an informed conclusion.
However, we do know that marijuana use can have a detremental impact on the development of adolescents. According to the Mayo Clinic, "Marijuana use among adolescents and young adults can affect normal brain development, leading to problems in learning, memory, coordination, reaction time and judgment. Excessive and frequent use of marijuana is associated with a range of emotional problems."
The CDC says, "Marijuana use has been linked to a range of mental health problems, such as depression and social anxiety. People who use marijuana are more likely to develop temporary psychosis and long-lasting mental disorders, including schizophrenia. The association between marijuana and schizophrenia is stronger in people who start using marijuana at an earlier age and use marijuana more frequently."

@@TexasPictures Obviously I’m not advocating for kids doing drugs. I just said I’ve noticed a pattern in these videos and I’d rather my teen experiment with marijuana than anything else they might get into. The idea that you can keep teens from experimenting with anything just is not realistic. Also, after the Covid/ vaccine debacle I’m weary of anything the CDC states as fact.

Guess what I learned real quick when my parents told me not to do this or that it was not negotiable. Children these days cannot even earn a smack on the bum and consequently run riot.

I wish there was some kind of classes or something for parents with kids that have addictions. I was like Cruz. I was a full blown alcoholic by 13. I did not even know or understand that I was an alcoholic. My mom just told me I had to quit. I tried but could not. I remember her yelling at me saying “are you addicted?” I had no idea what that meant. I told her I don’t know I guess so. After that she just gave up. I did get sober at 28. I used lots of drugs with my drinking. It is a natural progression for some reason. I was lucky I lived through it. If your child is negotiating about drugs or alcohol it is time to get them help, or at least try. No amount of “punishment “ is going to fix this problem. My heart goes out to your family. I understand Cruz, I was Cruz. I still have anxiety but now I know how to live with it.

So my brother was homeless even our family never knew this till they came to us and told us they found him behind a Kmart overdosed they couldn't bring him back. He had weed, meth, and fentanyl and the fentanyl took him they said. And my brother was a loving person he loved life and this drug is a demon and we all need to put these people away who are killing our families, friends, moms, brother, sisters, fathers everyone everyday someone is dieing from this demon. Our country needs to stand together work harder to keep this drug from coming in here that's killing everyone that does it.I definitely will speak out to save our new generation from this happening.
