tigereyes5 Plus, though many people might have had similar traits, were any of those girls as enigmatic, as intriguing, as mysterious, as toxic as Effy was? Effy had that blasé and unattached persona like Daria, but she was also exciting, bold and daring. She was sooo many different things at the same time, and before her I had never seen anyone with so much complexity. I think lia!!!!!! is right when saying that Effy started a trend.
+Kayla Phoenix Grace's happened in the first (maybe second) episode of series 6. I get the penultimate death was a cliche but I think Grace should have died midway through
She was 13 when this started. Shes such a great actress. For the 1st series she didnt talk and just acted with expressions. That is one of the most difficult thing to do. But it still amazes me the things her snd the others were alowed to film at such young ages. I get why they did it as its true to some peoples experience growing up. I know its acting but it still depicts sex and drug use at for her 13 or 14 they all did pretty well concidering the subject matter.
The first moment I saw Effy was the first moment I knew I'm not straight omg thanks for the likes, also I was around 15 as well when I watched skins so
i was four. FOUR when i first saw effy. my brothers and sisters and all their friends were sitting in our shared bedroom, smoking and drinking while intensely watching the series on a shitty telly. i just remember, how beautiful she was. i was infatuated every time she appeared. i didn’t know it was a crush until years later when i saw her again on the telly. then i knew my feelings haven’t changed towards her except this time i knew what they meant. my first girl crush was a fictional character. i was fucking FOUR years old hahaha
I know :( I rewatched it the other day and realised how much it would have really affected her. In prison, she would have so many regrets that she put all her time and care into her stupid job and stupid boss while neglecting Naomi while she was sick and struggling and dying :( She probably regrets not telling Emily about it sooner too.
As much as it seemed like Effy didn't really love anyone prior to the time of Freddie and Cook...back early on in Season 1 when she said "The people I should love, I hate. The people I should hate, I love"...makes me think..then what about Tony. Before Panda, Freddie, Cook, and JJ...she did love Tony. He might've been the only person she really did love. And I think the same vice versa, Tony was pretty selfish and manipulative at that time. But when it came to Effy, he made sure to help sneak her in the house in the mornings. When she got taken as a hostage, he spent all night trying to find her. And while at the time you weren't really sure whether he really loved Sid or Michelle...you knew he loved Effy.
The problem with effy and her interaction with people around her is that she uses them because she knows she will get anything she wants from them and sometimes she doesnt even notice it
Throughout all of season two and three I wondered why Tony never even visited home once. Like, I feel like he would really have been able to help her when she was in the mental hospital.
I just love Effy. She is my favorite character and I completely hate the end of season 4 (I want ro have a real ending!). She just went through so much shit and I just don't know why but she's just amazing. As she said, everybody loves her.
Effy (and Cook) made this season. As low as they sunk, I admired them the most. I relate a lot to Effy and as tragic as her storyline is, you can't help but love her and understand (or at least sympathize) with her character. Kaya did such a great job, especially for being so young and taking on such a complex role. Ugh, I love this show forever
i just saw Pirates of the Caribbean today. Kaya is such actress and it's interesting to watch her progress as an actress. She's amazing at playing complicated women
Something's always been off about Effy. She portrays such a "poor me I'm so innocent" vibe when in reality she's selfish and overprivileged. Everyone loved her and cared for her and she took advantage of them.
Natalie L. But like people have manic depression in real life and they cant help the way that they treat people. Why do people forget that mental illnesses are real outside of tv shows? Would you say this to a mentally ill person in real life? Take a seat
Natalie L. i dont share the same opinion; i think she never learned to behave any other way especially looking up to her brother tony and i think when he was run over by a bus that messed her tf up! and i she had manic depression at the end thats not rly an act. the show did a great job of portraiting hallucinations and you cant make that up. it wouldnt even fit the story line. her manuc depression must've came from somewhere.
I can now somewhat see why Freddie's death was put in the script. Other than Naomi foreshadowing it at the start of season 3, you can see how exhausted he is in the episode(s) before his death. He looks so drained and although he and effy loved each other, they almost seemed as if they made each other worse. I think they did it to help effy become her own independent self and finally get better, which in a sense she did, but I think it also set Freddie free from constantly caring for effy out of his love for her, it was killing him slowly. This show is amazing.
fire really pissed me off.. there was no mention of freddie or what happened to john foster. There's so many unanswered questions.. did sid ever find cassie?!
That’s life . What I loved about this show is that the ending were always ambiguous/sad . Anyone rarely gets a happy ending in this show . Which is exactly how life is . Trust me .
i don't think i'll ever forget watching eff's follow up 'fire' episodes and just nervously waiting for any mention of what happened as a result of freddie's murder! i'm 21 now and rewatched the first 4 series last summer and they are just as great now as they were then.
Callum Murphy they don't talk about it because she grew up and moved on from it. I loved Effy but I won't forgive her for not contacting Emily about Naomi and taking Emily's time away
I've been obsessed with this show since I was about 13 years old. I'm 21 now. I always seem to come back and watch. What I've realized in a way, through bringing ungodly amounts of edits and fan based scenarios-- is that in a way. If Effy and Cook had, in fact, found each other again. They could have saved the others lives from going down (at least these) horrible outcomes of a path for them as characters. Those were the most characteristically developed characters of this generation, at LEAST. They always had a chemistry. Cook always loved Effy. I think Effy just thought hed be unobtainable forever. And I think Cook always hurt at the realization more and more that he actually COULDNT make Effy be obtainable to him. Skins was such a great show.
Cook and Effy are so much more than just characters on Skins, they became a part of our lives after watching it all.. Skins will forever be my favorite TV show ever created, it'll always be that *one* show...
Effy was one of, if not the best character on Skins - hands down. I just wish that she had found out hat happened to Freddie. He loved her beyond words and he would never have left her , and it was so sad that she believes that he just left her like that. :(
i never finished the show, but i always felt bad for her. i lived a lifestyle somewhat like hers (sex, drugs, sneaking out, hurting myself, depression, convincing others im fine) and that was only because i was hurting inside, but didn’t want to show it. i go to group therapy and individual therapy and im doing much better now. whenever i watch the show now i see a piece of me
I love you for uploading this video. i miss Skins so much.. I'm watching it all over again right now and effy's still one of the best characters I've ever seen in any tv show
Freffy was a toxic relationship.. she was so selfish and its like she liked to see him suffer in the season 3. She was never here for him. She didnt care about destroying a 3 boy’s relationship, about ruining’s Freddie studies.. you got to admit that in Skins she was the worst thing that ever happened to Freddie.. But dont get me wrong, i like the complexity of Effy’s character and Kaya plays it really well. She is sincerely one of the most beautiful and talented actress to me :) appart from the love fact, she was an interesting character, but its like everything was about her in the 2 generation.. spoiled it a bit
I really don't get why everyone blames effy for the boys being in love with her? Like random dudes approach her on the 1st day of school she makes a scavenger hunt and like suddenly shes responsible for their emotions/friendship? Also cook was fucking up their friendship all on his own! Like. Effy losing her shit and dragging freddies grades down with her is a whole nother thing, but her having a crush on Freddie and then being unable to commit to it, while sleeping with cook? And its not like cook was in a committed relationship with her? He loved her but was sleeping with pandora and whoever else??? And JJ comes in like a fucking dark horse refusing to even be friends with her if she doesn't love him back.? Naaah. She didnt help their friendship but making it her job to choose a boyfriend and fix it is...a wild and impossible thing!! And context for all this shit is that her bedrock relationship, her parents, is dissolving right in front of her and like all her friends are like "sucks now commit to loving someone" wtf Tldr: not to be all alas poor effy but I hate the whole effy is responsible for the feelings of 3 dudes
Just because a bunch of guys were hounding after her like dogs, doesn't mean she was responsible for them. Jeez I can't believe how many thumbs up this shitty comment has. Those boys were responsible for their friendship splitting. Not Effy. She did nothing wrong and she owed them nothing.
Falah L Le Lo I never said she was enterely responsible. But the whole « I hit on Freddie while I’m with Cook, then I ghost him then I hook up with Freddie again while he is in a relationship, then I come back to Cook since Freddie is mad with me for punching his girlftiend with a rock, then I come back to Freddie so he can come and find me to prove his love for me while I’m on a roadtrip with Cook, then once I’m finally with Freddie I shut him down litteraly every episode and I kiss Cook again, and on and on... » was unnecessary and ruined the all show. She just didn’t care about them at all. Now I didn’t say she really enjoyed it nor did I say that her mentall illness was at fault. I just said that was poor writing because it made Effy’s character insentitive and kind of bland while she was so original and interesting in gen1.
An interesting and enigmatic character in the first three seasons, but after that i just felt that the writers couldn't figure out what the hell to do with her. Effy's arc in S4 and in Skins Fire is just a complete incoherent mess. Sad conclusion for the show's most emblematic character.
why do people love effy? i mean, if people on real life meet someone like effy they would be like talking shit about them but since effy is not real, people like her for how she is. i just wanna know why, not a hater btw i just cant explain myself why do i like effy.
andrea geraldine she's like really interesting, I think that's why. She's kind of like a puzzle, she's so complex and I think we like her so much because shes unpredictable and not boring.
andrea geraldine its her storyline and bc shes an interesting and complicated character! i will admit i wouldn't like her irl but the fact that shes so unique for a fictional character is 😍
I love gen 2 i love gen 1 i hate gen 3 idk i couldnt relate to any of them and franky was just evil and stupid. I feel like chris was the lighter version of cook
Gen 1 is overrated. Especially Cassie I don't know what anyone sees in her. She's not deep, she's just your average manic pixie dreamgirl, only Sid's not even in love with her, their chemistry was nonexistent and it seems like he just tried to settle for her everytime they were together. Sid's pathetic, Tony's just an asshole, Cassie's overrated and Chris only became lovable posthumously. First impressions of Chris were that he was a shithead and they lasted up until he died and Jal got sad. Jal is underrated and got shittier storylines that they just wanted to throw in to stay relevant with the younger audiences but they just came too out of left field and too contradictory with Jal's general character or at least what we thought of her until then, since during her personal episodes she became a different person. Michelle was a rubbish character, just thrown in to cause conflict and Maxxie was most attractive to teenage girls and a bit of a walking stereotype, but still pretty lovely and pretty much the best character that season. Anwar was also an asshole only he skates by due to being barely visible and due to getting called out on his shit much more consistently than Tony. Meanwhile Effie's the most interesting character of both seasons 1 and 2. I said seasons not gens. She's literally the best gen 1 character, until we get Cook and Emily and Naomi and Katie and really gen 2 had so many great characters. Like Pandora, who's not just a cloud-cuckoo-lander like Cassie, but has some character progress and inexplicably gets into Harvard. But at least she's not used to just cause conflict and for love triangles...or squares I guess, in Cassie's case.
^ I do very much agree with the Cassie and Sid point. So many were upset about them not being together at the end but personally did not feel they had any chemistry whatsoever. Gen 1 was quite good and I liked the happier vibe but Gen 2 really was something else. Gen 3, contrary to what some people may say was also a good gen.
Yeah that's what I thought but look it up. Cook didn't tell any of them about Freddy. And they just all assumed he left and didn't come back. In season 7 Effy talks about an 'ex' but she didn't react to it that much, if that makes sense. If she knew Freddy was dead her reaction would be a lot different, like you said she's very emotionally fragile.
Fascinating complex character, heightened by the fact that Kaya's own beauty draws you in at a first casual glance. You start to get past Effy's surface and you're grabbed by the tangling web of Effy's complexity. You get pulled in so far and can never go back, and you never forget. Even after all these years her character, and Kaya's portrayal, is still talked about by new generations of viewers to this day. No surprise Hollywood came calling for Kaya.
did they just skip over how effy was shunned by the entire group, went back to cook for the second time, chose freddie and ended up reconciling with everyone
effy in my opinion was and is the best character in the show to me. she we t through alot and they really molded effy into something real. I relate to her and sometimes I feel like her. she did an amazing job playing her
Everyone thinks they are effy or even cassie when actually the sad reality is you're not and you're plain and simple and boring and average ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sad I know but stop tryna be some TV characters and just be self aware and just be your self.
The last season of Skins made me hate Effy. But more than that, I hated how she was written, as if she hadn't evolved at all. And her mental health was totally glossed over, as was her past with Freddie.
peppermint23 I agree with the mental health but she thinks Freddie left. I don't think she is in love with him anymore. I mean I guess she sometimes thinks about him as her one true love and wants to see him again, but other than that I don't see why she'd bring him up in a conversation or idk
Effy's a really interesting character tbh. Kaya is an awesome actress! She's so complex and there's so many layers to her (although she did end up getting a bit annoying later on)
I started watching skins when I was about 16. I’m 22 now and Effy brought me such comfort. I related to her so much. Kaya did such a brilliant job with this and I can’t thank her enough for giving me something to make me feel less alone.
I really love Effy‘s character so much. It is so well-conceived and complex. She is probably one of the best characters I‘ve ever seen! I watched Skins 1-2 years ago and when I think about the series and especially Effy, I have this indescribable feeling in my body. I just wish I could watch the series again without knowing what would happen, so the experience would be as great as the first time.

Yes sid's actor is so talented
Cook and Chris say hi.
I love Graceee
Evelyn O'Connell agree
The first moment I saw Effy was the first moment I knew I'm not straight
omg thanks for the likes, also I was around 15 as well when I watched skins so
Liliana Voicu mate she was like 13 when she started skins
s. a123 yea and whoever wrote this comment probs watched it back then so she was also probably younger
Effy was every gay girls sexual awakening lol
I’m still questioning my sexuality but I swear the second she popped up on my tv I legit had heart palpitations
Legit the best thing Skins has brought out on yt for a while 🙂
we need a skins rebirth.
God no. Remember US Skins? Let it go. What we need is loose ends tied up, not another re-do.
I meant a new skins series w/ no connection to any past generation. maybe they can bring doug.
Yes. please.
watch skam
Skam is in German though
I feel like half of her acting is her being stunning and looking up.
Effy is Skins, no doubt.
No
Not really.
No. Tony is skins. Tony fucking Stonem!
Nowreen Tamanna YES TONY!!
lalimf305 tony!
This show changed me.
I miss it like fuck man.
i think its a bit silly to not include naomi getting sick, that is definitely apart of effy's story.
mckenna blaze that's not in the actual skins series, it's the additional episodes. they're only showing the original seasons storylines.
Maya Picot no! They add special party too but Naomi sick was in series 7 Skins Fire and they show Skins Fire but not Naomi
Maya Picot no because they included skins fire on the business side of things
Oh that? That didn't happen, it was all a bad dream! Thank god amiright
Mia Borges very true
which made it really good to know at the end he really did love Sid
she didnt say "and the people I should hate Iove" she actually doesn't say "love", because she doesn't love anyone
I always wanted to see Tony’s reaction to when Effy attempted suicide and was hospitalized
The mushrooms scene terrifies me
Same
Yeah we actually never find out what actually was said and went down
I'm watching it high, and let me tell you it's an experience
@@ellenlarkin i'm almost sure that katie tried to mess with her head on purpose
The problem with effy and her interaction with people around her is that she uses them because she knows she will get anything she wants from them and sometimes she doesnt even notice it
Throughout all of season two and three I wondered why Tony never even visited home once. Like, I feel like he would really have been able to help her when she was in the mental hospital.
Simba 17 series 3&4 you mean
Because Nick Holly was so successful. Probably hard to book him in for filming (if he wanted to even do it)
Effy is such a fucking icon, thanks to Kaya for making Effy unforgettable.
Effy is a legend 💖
I just love Effy. She is my favorite character and I completely hate the end of season 4 (I want ro have a real ending!). She just went through so much shit and I just don't know why but she's just amazing. As she said, everybody loves her.
She’s beautiful. That’s why you can’t hate her. She’s literally perfect.
Ugh, I love this show forever
effy was such a beautiful tragedy
Even in her adult life, it goes back to Freddie. Even his shadow is enough to make her lose all sense. Messing with a dangerous look-alike
Effy is one of the most complex and interesting AND realistic characters on TV ever made.. she is SKINS
The girl who played Katie is now a bodybuilder
She's Katie-fucking-Fitch, who the fuck are you?
182 - Don't get fit, get Fitch!
@@rosaliepicard7536 AHAHAH LOLL
Effy's character was just too complex to have her revolved around a stupid love triangle. It should have been a different story.
i just saw Pirates of the Caribbean today.
Natalie L. honestly a pretty accurate portrayal of mental illness imo
Natalie L. She was mentally ill you insensitive moron
Eve Mason exactly! people have to really start thinking outside their perspective
I was her 10 years ago, now I made changes and I’m happily married with a child at 30, this shit showed teens it was real we need more stuff like this
fire really pissed me off.. there was no mention of freddie or what happened to john foster. There's so many unanswered questions.. did sid ever find cassie?!
cook killed foster, dont know though about who cook told
sid found cass:)
Sid found cass but they didn’t stay together 🥺🥺
Its called growing up
Katie I think Cassie mentions an ex that she stayed with for 4 years but it didn’t matter now
That’s life . What I loved about this show is that the ending were always ambiguous/sad . Anyone rarely gets a happy ending in this show . Which is exactly how life is . Trust me .
Effy was the one we could all relate to
true
I relate to Gracie. I'm dead already.
MNJGaGa thats brutal
MNJGaGa I feel you.. i mean i'd probably feel you if i wasn't already dead
Don't know about that... she's very dark.
I can't believe you posted this video im so so grateful for that its ridiculous
i don't think i'll ever forget watching eff's follow up 'fire' episodes and just nervously waiting for any mention of what happened as a result of freddie's murder! i'm 21 now and rewatched the first 4 series last summer and they are just as great now as they were then.
Callum Murphy they really dont talk about it in fire.
Callum Murphy they don't talk about it because she grew up and moved on from it. I loved Effy but I won't forgive her for not contacting Emily about Naomi and taking Emily's time away
newxromantic but Naomi asked her not to contact Emily.
Callum Murphy c
Callum Murphy yeah she literally never found out
Holy shit she really was distractingly beautiful
Kaya started playing such a strong character in such a young age, she’s amazing
Cook and Effy are so much more than just characters on Skins, they became a part of our lives after watching it all..
Skins will forever be my favorite TV show ever created, it'll always be that *one* show...
Effy was one of, if not the best character on Skins - hands down. I just wish that she had found out hat happened to Freddie. He loved her beyond words and he would never have left her , and it was so sad that she believes that he just left her like that. :(
I wish that they can make a movie version of Effy Stonem starring Kaya Scodelario.
i like how they didn’t include freddie getting killed as effy never found out so this is like her story from her memories and what she knew.
i never finished the show, but i always felt bad for her. i lived a lifestyle somewhat like hers (sex, drugs, sneaking out, hurting myself, depression, convincing others im fine) and that was only because i was hurting inside, but didn’t want to show it. i go to group therapy and individual therapy and im doing much better now. whenever i watch the show now i see a piece of me
madeline keep going 💕
This vid makes me wanna rewatch Skins, maybe I should!
Effy really is the most important character in skins as she really is the depicture of teenage suffering and trauma
I love you for uploading this video. i miss Skins so much.. I'm watching it all over again right now and effy's still one of the best characters I've ever seen in any tv show
Freddies death will kill me forever and ever and ever
Jade Fo even got him killed
And context for all this shit is that her bedrock relationship, her parents, is dissolving right in front of her and like all her friends are like "sucks now commit to loving someone" wtf
Tldr: not to be all alas poor effy but I hate the whole effy is responsible for the feelings of 3 dudes
Just because a bunch of guys were hounding after her like dogs, doesn't mean she was responsible for them. Jeez I can't believe how many thumbs up this shitty comment has. Those boys were responsible for their friendship splitting. Not Effy. She did nothing wrong and she owed them nothing.
@@falahl8781 True!
It’s called mental illness look it up. It’s coherent for anyone who has dealt with extreme mental illness
Welcome to Borderline Personality.
Now I know why I always felt a bond between me and effy
I still get goosebumps in scenes of Effy's second breakdown
I watched the whole video without even realising.
I dont remember some of these scenes?! where did the german dancing and the young effy come from?
Thank God I'm not the only one. Would love to know where these scenes have been taken from
It’s deleted scenes that didn’t make it to the show
Sarah Borowik-Frank They're all on UA-cam. It's a series of a few videos, deleted scenes.
Ohmygod thank fuck I’m not the only one 😂
These are unseen videos, they're really interesting
why do people love effy? i mean, if people on real life meet someone like effy they would be like talking shit about them but since effy is not real, people like her for how she is. i just wanna know why, not a hater btw i just cant explain myself why do i like effy.
andrea geraldine she's like really interesting, I think that's why. She's kind of like a puzzle, she's so complex and I think we like her so much because shes unpredictable and not boring.
andrea geraldine its her storyline and bc shes an interesting and complicated character! i will admit i wouldn't like her irl but the fact that shes so unique for a fictional character is 😍
Only undecent people talk shit
It’s true you are right lol humans are odd
you don't need to, the character, from day one, was a narcissistic sociopath.
run awayyy! _not_ omgz soo mysterious & confused.ja, no.
For me the second generation was the best in Skins
Brunette Girl I would agree but Tony, Sid, Cassie and Chris just stood out too much for me to prefer the second generation
I love gen 2 i love gen 1 i hate gen 3 idk i couldnt relate to any of them and franky was just evil and stupid. I feel like chris was the lighter version of cook
gen 1 is good but lighter and cheesier. gen 2 is amazing, more intense, dark, just freaking amazing
I always loved Effy. The actress that plays her is so gorgeous too
Every time I see Freddie and effy together I just think off effys dad going ‘DONT USE CUNT AND OXFAM IN THE SAME SENTENCE’
Carla Taylor 😂😂😂
Can't even word what I want to say. Just thank you. And thank you for Effy Stonem. She's helped me understand so many things about myself.
(also fuck you for john foster but whatever)
How did she stand Freddie's death? She is so emotionally fragile.
Clara Monteiro she doesn't know he's dead.
She does. Naomi was living with her, Emily visiting them, and they would never tell her? Come on...
She knows cook was on the run for killing his killer as well as the other crime
Kaia confirmed Effy never found out about Freddie's death.
i loved effy so much. After watching the entire series, I did my makeup exactly like Effy's for 2 straight months
I relate to her and sometimes I feel like her. she did an amazing job playing her
Effy and Cassie are my favourites, I feel like I'm more like Cassie but a bit like Effy
Sweet Lolita Cassie was skinny but
// courtenay // I'm a lot like Cassie but I wish I was as confident and sexy as Effy
Everyone thinks they are effy or even cassie when actually the sad reality is you're not and you're plain and simple and boring and average
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sad I know but stop tryna be some TV characters and just be self aware and just be your self.
A legendery character
The last season of Skins made me hate Effy. But more than that, I hated how she was written, as if she hadn't evolved at all. And her mental health was totally glossed over, as was her past with Freddie.
peppermint23 I agree with the mental health but she thinks Freddie left. I don't think she is in love with him anymore. I mean I guess she sometimes thinks about him as her one true love and wants to see him again, but other than that I don't see why she'd bring him up in a conversation or idk
an icon
Effy's a really interesting character tbh. Kaya is an awesome actress! She's so complex and there's so many layers to her (although she did end up getting a bit annoying later on)
i can’t describe how much effy meant to me and inspired me when i first saw skins.. she had such a big impact on me
Effy has the most beautiful eyes
Effy, Tony and Cook were hands down the best characters.. Well written, versatile and fleshed out characters. I miss Skins so much 💔😢
'Theres nothing I cant do' - Effy
why didnt they include her best friend dying of cancer bit....
Emily Rose who died of cancer?
leah 24 niomi☹️💔
Because Skins fire doesn't exist!!
I don’t remember that part wth
Lens suzzn Skins Fire, season 7.
I remember when I used watch skins on the tv in the basement all the time when I was 9 my parents never knew lmao, so much nostalgia
She's like a British Alaska young
- Chloe omg yes before I watched this I’m like she would make a good Alaska young 😍😍😍😭😭😭
That hit me hard
Indeed
I have read this book so many time
I started watching skins when I was about 16. I’m 22 now and Effy brought me such comfort. I related to her so much. Kaya did such a brilliant job with this and I can’t thank her enough for giving me something to make me feel less alone.
You can't even imagine how nostalgic I am after bringing back Skins:(
i love effy so much
a coming of age series for any teenager
Such a deep story there is more to effy than meets the eye she is such a beautiful broken soul and it is truly heartbreaking
Whos here after Binge watching spinning out?
I really love Effy‘s character so much. It is so well-conceived and complex. She is probably one of the best characters I‘ve ever seen! I watched Skins 1-2 years ago and when I think about the series and especially Effy, I have this indescribable feeling in my body. I just wish I could watch the series again without knowing what would happen, so the experience would be as great as the first time.
