Nice session on a local beach its what fishing is all about. wet cold but fishable. Ive had cod to 8lb from there just after high tide on a frosty winters evening. i was 100 yards further to the right than your position lug tipped with squid and squid sausage tight lines
Well done Dave for braving the conditions and catching fish. Keener than me(but younger!). I am a fair weather fisherman! Plenty of whiting down here on the Kent coast but not many big ones. Still catching the odd bass. No sign of any cod here for years off the shore. Common place during the day in the 60s. Great video, Dave broadstairs Kent
Yeah I think the cod fishing has changed in a lot of places over the years. I used to fish Hythe in Kent with my dad in the 80s and we used to do well for the cod then.. the whole beach just lit up at night with tilly lamps.. fishing has changed a lot over the last 30 years..
Well done Dave. No cod but they are few and far between now days. So all you can do is keep having a bash and hope you’re in the right place at the right time. I’ve lived in Clacton 9 years and I’ve only had 1 very small one. lol. 😂

Imagine peering down the beach into the darkness and seeing something walking towards you… !!! 👻
I’d rather see a cod coming towards me..lol.. yeah very spooky though. Yeah fishing in the rain, in the wind.. won’t be long be fishing in the snow..👎🏻
Ah that’s good to no.. was reading on line and read somewhere they close it at 4 in the winter.. saying that though I didn’t notice any barriers there.. will definitely be doing a night shift there at some point though..👌
Try Southwold turn left at pier far as u can go in car park walk along left to third breakwater caught loads of cod to 8lbs in the 80/s mainly at night in winter lug bait

Yeah definitely, I could fish Yarmouth Beach tomorrow at the end of my road and pull one out, like you say just right time right place..👌
Good watch as always Dave give it another go in February for the cod less whiting around then I have found top of the tide down best

Need to invest in a camping stove and kettle mate. Make ya self a mug of steaming hot tea each time….
