At 9:16 bitter cassava is used to make bammies. The bitter cassava sticks have a red colour while the other cassava stick is brownish
All he needs is his greens, if he can't find meat, is no big thing. He can just season his thing with little oil, and gone clear. His breadfruit is just fine. Him don't need the bad meat that is not good for him. He is do resourceful. I just love Mr. Williams living. Just help take care of him, Tania.
Cave man could be an agricultural tour guide for persons ,God gave him wisdom,he is in touch with nature I believe even when house is complete he will still hang out on the hills from whence cometh his help Good Video
His farm look So clean... hope he's cautious of the sun though during the days it's really hot..go early to the farm and get most of the work done early...you have made a great impact in this man's life...blessings to all who render assistance to him whatever way or form
A whole lot of people want to know how the house is coming along. Caveman seems to be quite happy to live in his cave! I pray he will prosper with his Farming! Everything looks healthy!

He maybe living in a CAVE but KUDOS to him as he worked the land to feed himself and also generous to the people in the nearby community. He is to be LAUDED as he made a life for himself. Appleton should have Employed him as he is a Hardworking and Disciplined Human Being, he would be enjoying a PENSION at this age now had he been employed by then. A missed opportunity on their part.
My mother use the bitter cassava and make bammy,she grate and squeeze the juice and use it as starch for clothes, throw away the juice and make dumplings and bammy for eating...
You know what you're talking about. I learnt this from my Mum, Dad and Aunt Rita. I did Hominy for dinner today. It was delicious?
My mom use a press bag made of straw and put it under a board and put large rocks on it overnight by morning all the juice squeezed out...dem days deh..
@@annlowe3181 ,sounds like it was mouthwatering. I am very hesitant to make myself hominy corn porridge because I noticed on the package that it's VERY high in carbs. And unfortunately, my diabetes is not controlled at all.

Tanya the bitter cassava is use for starch and its poisonous. Have you ever heard the saying: "BITTER CASSAVA KILL JOHN BROWN" Ask any jamaican 50 and up about this. Lovely, lush and green scenery.

Please say that Mr.Williams house is completed? This is going on far too long now. I know you had a glitch after you handed the donations to the M.P. who did nothing until you managed to get it back. Please don't do that ever again. You can't trust anyone these days they have no ethics. This man needs a home he has spent far too log in the cave...it's HURRICANE SEASON and he should be rehoused by now. He has always maintained the grounds around the cave snd have shared his foids, fruit snd vegetables with his community and visitors. He is not a useless or lazy man he gas dignity and pride. I just hope his family who abandoned him after he left prison don't rain on his parade?

Yes. The Jamaican Historical Society need to be notified, so they can make a note of such a graveside, and also fence it off, perhaps restore the gravestones, and make a sign or plaque.
God continues to help you so that you will be able to continues to help us. people the peoples in the community should use it as a historical site because the politician are not active some people would like to hear what happen to the soldiers
It's so funny to hear Jamaicans at home say, "don't it!" Instead of, isn't it.) Weird and funny at the same time. So good to see Mr Williams have a roof over his head now and he is farming. Bitter cassava is poisonious, used to make starch and bammy. It is said that whenever the bitter is removed and planted in aother parish it changes to sweet.

Jamaican don't have monkey in this country. We have a lot of mongoose running around.

The green leaf with the red stem is the sweet cassava. And the green leaf with the white stem is the bitter cassava... I was a little confuse with his explanation of the cassava...

My brother plant a lot
That might be why Old Harbour (in St Catherine) became the notable spot for the 'bammy and fry fish vendors.
That stuff was sooooo delicious, when my mother or father would stop there to buy some that delectable ' fry fish and bammie' for us all. Many decades after. ( this was late 1960's to the beginning of the 1980's), my belly still remembers, and my mouth salivates with the memories!!!

Did you know if you break off pieces off cassava leave and put in the ant hill the ants migrate ... I learnt that as a child. Not sure if it still works
