Sargent Saunders , that was a great show he was in, Combat starring Vic Marrow and Rick Jason, i think i have the names right . Bad day on set of Twilight zone.. Vic tried to save the two child actors , but all three were killed instantly. R .I.P. Vic
Me too. I recognize Morrow was considered a good actor, but I never admired his acting in anything he did, including the Combat role. He always seemed to over-play his roles and even inject inappropriate behaviors, inconsistent with the historical backdrop of the plots. Maybe it's just my bias but he always seemed to inappropriately overlay the persona of a fifties era thug in every role, whether it was a western set in the mid 19th Century or a WWII soldier role.
Of necessity, most Anglos in Texas were conversant in Spanish, particularly in the El Paso area and Texas Rangers certainly would be. Interesting show.
THE GREAT VIC MORROW,only man just as cool as steve mcqueen, and before he cut his right index finger off, died way too soon, last thing he did was grab those kids and tried to cover them,HERO TO THE END,RIP VIC,you are sorely missed
That's the 64 dollar question. S&W made a lot of changes in their breaktop line over the years and sources disagree and vary widely. Some say it's a 38 Russian, while others claim it's a Smith & Wesson No. 3, New Model, 44 Russian. It could be a No. 3 New Model 44 American which looks the same as the 44 Russian. Many think it's a Schofield 45 S&W. With the exception of the 38 Russian, these revolvers look very much alike. But the Schofield has a top mounted latch with embedded rear sight which can be opened with the shooting hand alone. This is not be possible with the other models. They require two-hand operation. It's also possible Culp used more than one type of S&W. Judging from the shape of the barrel and lack of underlug I think it is either a No. 3 New Model American or Russian. Supposedly the gun belonged to Culp, so somebody in his family should know for certain.

VIC MORROW, I remember him from the COMBAT series of the mid sixties.

Had the same look as in combat exhaustion

Interesting show.
I have been enjoying a few of these episodes so far. If the Ranger needed sleep, then why didn't he just tie the bad guy up real good against a tree?
Because he wasn't going with him as "partners" to retrieve the stolen money... and get the guy to a town on their one horse.

Is that a Schofield Culp is carrying?

Narrator sounds like Lorne Green
