That's what happens with saaho. They spent so much time and money on Saaho and the result was shit. Some of the scenery in the movie was cool, but the rest of it was mindless, overacted, masala action movie. In bollywood 'War' was made with the same mindset, less money compared to Saaho and less story. And it was a success compared to Saaho. The point is , when it comes to making award winning movies , original story and good acting you'll find in bollywood movies. But when they make a masala action movie, they copy it from South. That's it.

I am Not looking Much Into Biopics but I can Definitely Tell two Malayalam Biopics that can Be highly Controversial. 1. Story Of India's longest wanted fugitive. Sukumara Kurup. Dulquer Salman produce and star in the Film based on the story of Sukumara Kurup titled Kurup. The movie also stars other great actors like Indrajith Sukumaran , Sunny Wayne , Shine Tom Chacko , all of them actors in Malayalam you haven't heard of but are extremely talented , and Shobhita Dhulipala from Raman Raghav and Made in heaven. The problem is If they are going to Glorify The life Of the Fugitive , then the film is definitely going to spark some Controversies. But this one might Only be the case of the State of Kerala. 2. There's going to be another Movie Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran , Named Variyamkunnan , directed by the director of Virus. This movie is Based on The Malabar Mutiny of 1920 . The problem is Often it is known as Muslim Outrage in Malabar in the Indian History during the khilafat Movement. During this many incidents have happened including Killing of Hindus . This Film could Be highly Controversial especially when it comes up with a One sided Story.
SAM if produced and directed well, can be a game changer. There are a lot of nuances and minute details of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw's life and character that, if portrayed accurately will take this movie to a legendary stature. Totally looking forward to seeing the recreation of the way he talked, moved and specially his classic old school " British Indian Army " Hindi accent in which he spoke Nepali and Hindi to his Gorkha troops. This can end up being another Lakshaya or given the potential of story telling, even surpass it.

@@jaigracejjoy so what? That's my point. If you want to make a masala action movie , why spend so much effort and brain, it's mindless masala action in the end. Buy the rights and make the movie. That's it.
Because Biopics don't need a script writers effort as the story is readymade as it is the life of that person and we all know that Bollywood is so lazy that it can't write a script and so they either make a biopic or a remake

Just wanted to say that it’s not just the look-alikes that matter while making a biopic. That actor/actress should actually know how to play the character well. For example, Priyanka Chopra looked nothing like Mary Kom, but she was the right choice because she ACED the film. It’s not just about the skin colour and looks here!

Its rare that bollywood does proper justice to the character in a biopic. With too much emotion, unnecessary plots, and over bollywoodization by adding songs the purpose of the biopic is failed.
A good biopic in Bollywood is actually Bhaag Milka Bhaag
BMB and Paan Singh Tomar are best Bollywood bipoics.
A King who died at 26 represented on screen by a 53 year old man.
Despite doing from justice films like Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey or Chittagong flopped
being based on true events and being a biopic are two different things. Based on true event movies may be entertaining (for ex. chak de).. While some bad examples for biopic would be Azhar, Gold and to some extent even Dhoni(there's absolutely no need for songs in biopics if the characters are well written). Also, both movies and audience are to be blamed.
