Literally the two biggest setbacks holding back Megamix is the fact that it feels the need to stop everything after ten minutes to talk about stuff, and that a good 1/3rd of the game are the weird truncated worse versions of rhythm games BEFORE you actually play the good ones. Lum-Bear-Jack 0.5, Sneaky Spirits 0.5 and Air Rally 0.5 are by far the worst ones. It just feels unnessisary to do so other than to pad out the game. everything else is literally god tier
On top of everything you said i have a weird niche gripe with this game: the 3 previous entries kind of built up the hype about the Rhythm League and the titular Rhythm Heaven, with Fever being a cool ramp-up of the 'stakes' by actually showing Rhythm Heaven as an actual location. Then Megamix, despite having such an accent on story, removes all and every mention of these and now brings in a place called.. "Heaven World"? And it isn't even related to Rhythm Heaven because it doesn't look the same and has no mention of music (they even removed the imagery of Rhythm Heaven in Hole in One 2 in Megamix). Nothing gamebreaking but it is really, really weird to me they would do that in a best-of and (seemingly) ending entry.
@@geschnitztekiste4111 i think what gets me the most about it is it would have been so easy and rewarding to just make Heaven world the titular Rhythm Heaven? like they end the series by having us go to Rhythm Heaven, it's feels so obvious. But Megamix is really weirdly adverse to making any of its story about music and rhythm, only vaguely invoking "flow" as a way to fix stuff around you by non-diagetically completing the rhythm games. I have no problem with a Rhythm Heaven's story being lackluster but it's so dumb to me they interrupt the gameplay every 5 minutes for pointless banter that has nothing to do with music.
9:40 Growing up, my parents would do the 'shave and a haircut' knock a lot and told me at a young age that it was our family's 'secret knock'. I'll never forget when I first heard it elsewhere. And then again. And again.
if I had a nickel for every time he made that fuckin and truckin joke during a rhythm heaven playthrough I would have two nickels but it's weird that it happened twice
him starting out with the "IM EMULATING THIS" and the gane instantly going "thank you for purchasing this game" is top tier

Lumberjack 0.5 is pretty good in my opinion.

Sneaky Spirits 0.5 is probably objectively one of the worst minigames in the series
But it's funny
@@Olistar255I Never noticed that, sounds like some TotK shit

Is this a reupload? Swear I've seen a fan edit of Megamix.
I've edited the previous games, but not this one. Maybe someone else made one?
