"The best thing that happened to corn since the Indians discovered it." Setting aside the fact that the Indians didn't merely discover corn but crossbred two varieties to produce corn as we know it, fact is I'd never even heard of Post Toasties until I discovered radio _Gunsmoke_ episodes earlier this year.
The cast frequently re-acted entire scripts, probably for pragmatic purposes. There are several episodes that have more than one interpretation. This is one I wish they would have done a second time. The actor who replaces Steve McNair as Doc, sounds like he’s trying to imitate WC Fields on Xanax, lol.
At 24:25 the announcer says that the role of Doc was played by Paul Frees. This is mentioned in the third paragraph of the "Career" section of Paul Frees' Wikipedia entry. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Frees
Exactly, if you're going to drastically change the voice of a character by this much ,then introduce him as a new doctor with his own character voice. Hopefully the husband did us a favor and got rid of this doc as he hated doctors to begin with. 😂
Funny thing this same episode was also recorded with Howard McNear as Doc.
Not one sounds like doc also played Floyd the barber on the Andy show but I'm sure you knew that since you called him by his real name

I disagree with everyone. He's not the Doc we're used to, but I think the guy is pretty good. Just a different take.
@@murphynapoleon yeah
That doctor dosen't sound extremely excited
Sure it isn't doc but it is a good impression.
I call mall practice
Thanks funny
That doesn't sound like Doc?👂

Gasp! Maybe it is WC Fields on Xanax! Well, never mind. Now I wish Steve McNair stayed home more often. No I’m just kidding.
Steve McNair was a decent quarterback, not sure what he has to do with Gunsmoke tho
Oops haha. Sorry Howie
That’s a different actor for doc!
And not a very good one either. He sounds drunk or stoned lol
@@douglasdolan5642 It was Paul Frees. One of the best radio and voice actors of all time. It's hard doing a perfect impression of Doc.

@@tirmyta you are correct! Paul Frees was one of those men of a thousand voices
Sorry but I’m not impressed with his Doc rendition
I hope that really is WC Fields on Xanax playing Doc. No I’m just kidding I’m pretty sure WC Fields was dead by this time.

Can't even listen to this one with the rotten impression of Doc

He's not really a very good doctor, is he?
It wasn't doc but don't think anyone could have did better a little more studer would have helped
I am sorry to say this was hard to listen to. The voice of Doc was like fingernails on a chalkboard.😢
This “Doc” was horrible. No emotion . No nothing. Sounded like he was hooked on Laudanum.
I had to stop listening within 5 minutes and I love this radio Gunsmoke. I jumped ahead to the next show praying this was a one time thing. 😂
Not really fond of this one.
