I love randy hansen, one of the rare guy that totally understand jimi's music. And if you think he is just copying jimi you are wrong. First, copying jimi is really hard to achieve, and consider this: he is playing jimi's music like any classical musician will play bach or mozart or any DEAD musician/composer. So we should all say thank you to Randy Hansen and wish that he lives for as long as he can !!!!!
I have played in bands for around 30 years in the style of Hendrix, SRV, Trower, Rory, and i have never seen or heard anyone capture the soul of Hendrix like Randy Hansen does.
I challenge ANYONE to distinguish Randy's voice from Jimi's. He is absolutely spot on. I've covered Stevie's and Jimi's music my entire music career, and let me tell you...those two have such unique voices, that I'm blown away by Randy's talent! Randy, you've got a new fan.
I went to a concert of the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1969. I never thought I could hear Jimis music live again many years after he died. But Randy made it possible. I am so glad someone like Randy is still alive and well.
Thanks, Randy, for one of JH's greatest! "...If you wanna be free/come on along with me/don't waste your time/they'll never understand/I said find yourself first/and then your talent/Put God in your mind/and let it come alive..." Man, did he ever!
Go Randy! Love to hear you play brother! Jimi is laughing and smiling down on you saying "hey man you are something awesome!"... Keep on truckin!" I dig your voice too! Total package in a desert of poor tone guitarists. You the man....peace out! ✌
This is the same Randy Hansen I saw in concert in Denver, Colorado at The Rainbow Music Hall Sept. 29, 1979! I still have the ticket stub. Paid $6 for Gen. Adm. Until now, I had found NOTHING on this guy during searches on the I-net for the past 15 years! He billed himself back then as "Randy Hansen's Machine Gun-Tribute to Jimi Hendrix". Thought maybe he died. Glad to see he is ALIVE & WELL...still playing! Thanks for posting!
He's amazing...that's 30 odd years of practice on one mans material for you !! Makes me think how Good Hendrix was that he came up with all that stuff in 5 years or so.
Einstein Agogo yeah I saw Jimi when I was 14 in Seattle and he blew me away! Gave me a headache but I sure as hell didn’t leave the arena until he was done. I’m so grateful that I got to see him before he passed away. One of those things that I will never forget.
Let it be known Randy that you are a powerhouse and very much appreciated!... Ufo and Manni? Incredible as well... please continue your journey as long as possible. Thank you. 5 stars!!!!!
I am close to 60, never saw him live -- but collecting anything I can over the years. Used to be just bootlegs in off handed stores, now we got UA-cam. To do a Hendrix version studio is hard enough, to copy a live version is near impossible. This version sums it all up -- Randy and his group gets it.
This is a phenomenal performance. The first time I saw it, I was excited to notice he was playing the version from the album which I believe was from the first set at the Fillmore East on the last night of 1969. I wasn't so excited when he started the guitar solo and veered off into notes that Hendrix never played. Simplified considerably. I know this because I have been studying this song for the last 2 years, and can play 2/3 of it, exactly note for note, as Hendrix did. It can be done, with enough patience and analysis of each note slowed down. Still, Randy is the best doing it professionally.
Only man Alive that does Jimi Justice! You're a formidable advisory! I've bragged about u to my son...for decades. Now he sees what I was talking about. I Saw u in Philly @ the Tower way back in your early days. You were barely known but SOLD OUT this little theatre... and you did not disappoint. THANK GOD 4 UA-cam! and glad to see you've carried on so well.
OMG, this is just so beautiful. It made me cry. Hendrix would have loved this guy and his awesome band. All glories to that drummer, that bass player and the re-incarnation of Jimi. Randy Hansen band - WE LOVE YOU! XXXXXXXXX
Just Amazing!...I have been listening Jimi Hendrix for a long time and I know the songs quite well "mentally", I'm wondering how this guy can reproduce the sounds, the tone etc....It's just incredible!....Even his vocal is close too, well Randy thank you for keeping Jimi Hendrix Music alive!
It has been said to the point of the "dead horse" clique......just wind up a 1/2 dozen tracks of Randy, and then turn away from your monitor....turn up the sounds, and listen. Yup, thats Jimi. and you can be sure Jimi had a hand in this prophetic moment. Learning the tracks, playing with the same guitar, thats amazing, in and of itself......how do you make the goosebumps go away when he even makes the same mistakes, at the same point, in any track, as Jimi did???????
there should be WAY MORE PICS of Randy's left hand .. work on the net!!! He is AMAZEING. His warm up exercises will blow you away ...obviously a superior musician.
Here the band plays very well. I like very much. The sound is very much like , the same thing happens with the unattended. This Randy makes it very well, copy the alone but , do you expect this of Hendrix? I mean, touch the same only show after show. I want to see Randy improvise more often..... clear that then....
I KNOW HE KNOWS JIMI MORE SO THAN SRV OR FRANK MARINO. I MEAN, JUST LISTEN TO THIS GUY.............OFF THE HOOK.........I'M PROUD OF YOU. YOU'VE TAKEN THIS MUSIC BEYOND MAN........PIER 6 PAVILLION,AS WELL AS RAMSHEAD PROMOTIONS IN BALTIMORE, MD. WOULD BE INTERESTED IN YOU. SCOBIEAKALINKWRAYBAND laurel, Md.

I have never herd anyone that can do this like Randy. He absolutely gets it. Its about capturing the soul.
Right so. Just imagine the time and talent it takes to analyse the sound to this detail.. Amazing!
Randy Hansen is such a special musician! This video is one of the best rock tracks ever IMO. Thank you Randy!
Nobody does Hendrix like Randy!

Is anyone else with me in that the world just haven't given this man his due?
Randy has been around a long time....
Video has been up for 11 years. Has 97K views and 778 likes. It’s absolutely criminal how under appreciated Randy is.
Go Randy! Love to hear you play brother! Jimi is laughing and smiling down on you saying "hey man you are something awesome!"... Keep on truckin!" I dig your voice too! Total package in a desert of poor tone guitarists. You the man....peace out! ✌

+Einstein Agogo Yeah !!, i think about that too, Jimi did this amazing work off the cuff, sublime, untouchable genius, Peace.
Einstein Agogo I agree with ya he’s definitely been doing it a long time and he is very good
I just noticed that he is playing a guitar upside down just like Jimi except he’s doing it right handed!! He really is into the Hendrix thing
Einstein Agogo yeah I saw Jimi when I was 14 in Seattle and he blew me away! Gave me a headache but I sure as hell didn’t leave the arena until he was done. I’m so grateful that I got to see him before he passed away. One of those things that I will never forget.

Jimi was a Space alien , only here for a brief time .. How else could you explain His playing in 1969 & 70 ??
He was visited by aliens. Look it up. You'll be amazed.👏
I've heard dozens of versions of Message To Love by Jimi but this is FANTASTIC!

Exelent!!the best cover of Jimi Hendrix!!
Nuanced to an extremely high degree.
Where did Hendrix come up with this stuff? Was he from another galaxy? I like this bands covers of J H.
Mushrooms!!! 🍄
Ah, the bliss
Randy , his band and sound guys have had to do stacks and stacks of graft to achieve this level of accuracy in reproducing all JH’s stuff.
Hendrix does love him. his Dad did. Leon does for sure.
Not bad..based on Filmore NY Eve
WHEN ARE U COMIN TO ATLANTA !!!!
Here the band plays very well. I like very much. The sound is very much like , the same thing happens with the unattended. Its got to be a drag impersonating Hendrix like that. Hes a great player, would like to hear some of his non Hendrix stuff.
Why would it be a drag?
No sorry

Great
Excellent performance. Six years on and nobody has pointed out that the correct title of the song, Jimi's title, is Message to Love, not "of".
Message to the Universe
WTF ! This is as if Jimmi faked his death......WOW ...OMG !
I'd like to see randy play a song with a glarry strat
This man is the closest to the real thang, his Royal Higness Jimi Hendrix
He has a Hendrix track playing in the back, like Millie Vanillie, hes just miming along.
Well, it's either that or living proof of reincarnation.
On reflection, your version is more likely...
"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TEETH!"---Colonel Jessup
"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TOOTH!"
