it's great to know that there is a modded server that is not an absolute clusterfuck. darkgru is great, but man, having access to the entire rainbow of cammos and equipment makes identifying friend from foe next to impossible. darkgru servers just have way too much.
Sweet dark gru has been getting pretty annoying lately. Lots of team killing at mobs and biased GMs

This guy just called "Disturbed birds" and wasn't joking and totally gave his squad the upper hand, this really is the future.
Definitely a cool feature that other milsim games overlook. It's been in Hunt Showdown for years and even PUBG has been using it for a couple of years now. I believe BF2 did it, but I've only heard, as I didn't play that game.
It's always been a part of ARMA 3 and also DayZ. This isn't a new feature, it's just new to you.

Fr bro bought reforger because of him and have met and gamed with the coolest people and I've only had the game 2 weeks, gaming lately was boring and dull almost depressing, but this game makes me feel how mw2 made me feel when i was younger.

Its amazing how realistic the firefights appear to be. Not visually, not in how the player models move, but just how it plays out. The chaotic nature of it, the people communicating to attempt to get an idea of what is going on, the attempts to coordinate. It’s wild. I have to get this, it’s like the Squad that I want but don’t have.

Reforger looks leagues better than arma 3, 3 is uncanny and i hate when you shoot people their limbs spaz out, i hate explosions, I hate lighting, I hate the vehicles, glad reforger is getting more traction

@@mudzbe8414 yeah after a good amount of hours in modded arma units you just don't even care anymore for all that its just apart of its charm at this point lmao (everything you said is VERY valid) Arma has been showing its age (2013) having played it since 2021 for around 1800 hours alll of those things you mentioned aren't problems anymore because of mods and just being so used to the game and how it plays, behaves etc. It becomes about the community and arma is now just an addiction
Reforger is a new chapter i'm also very excited about, just waiting for the Optre modding scene to develop for that game which could take a hot minute.

If they ain't giving us a play by play, they're using non code words for objectives over the air. Platoon chat isn't meant for non essential comms. Designate another frequency and use that to chat with friends.

I've really been enjoying reforger lately. It feels like the only game where you can sit in a treeline for 30 minutes and suddenly ambush an entire squad.
it's sad to think that Reforger is basically the last bastion of modern milsim FPS games, considering how the game is basically an alpha for ARMA 4. we really need greyzone to fix their issues to dethrone Tarkov so we can have more options.
whats wrong with Arma3? its still amazing and better than reforger. Greyzone? took one look at their store page and laughed. any EA game with "edition" notes is laughable. Tarkov is a joke. Arma3 il be playing until Arma4 is out and nearing its completion 4 years after release. People somehow feel they NEED to have new new new things all the time and cant appreciate current masterpieces.

@@MsFreegaza that is why I said modern. ARMA 3 started showing it's age years ago. while Reforger is barebones, it already has many improvements over ARMA 3. if you want a good milsim game that at least has proper exposure when going in and out of buildings, Reforger is your best bet at the moment.
@@danilooliveira6580 yeah but it depends what your wanting that milsim for. i make combined arms SP scenarios. i can make alot in Arma3 and next to nothing in Reforger. believe me i wish i could,id buy it right away. But reforger is just a test bed for 4,unless BIS decide to change that it will remain like that
I was part of that push "R3DBREAST" from the East on Trench. Man you guys held that FOB forever. One of the most intense battles of that session.
Drewski and RubixRaptor are the guys that got me into Arma 3 and Reforger. I am so glad I found these channels.

I would really like to see you play more of the vanilla servers. The extra level of thought required when using less advanced technology has always made for a more fun and challenging experience I've found. Would be amazing to see some milsim between 1980's US and Soviet troops.
My honest opinion is that there is just as much thinking required with modern tech, the distances are just longer. In fact with the increased engagement distances and lethality involved, I would argue that to truly be very successful as a unit. There is more thinking involved. However I do understand your point.
The Cold War setting creates an even playing field where superior tactics and strategy are massively rewarded.
The Modern setting makes it easier for everyone, while making it a lot harder for those assuming officers roles within the team.
@@beltempest4448 Things like ranging enemies using binoculars, navigating the map just based on reference points and your good planning, having to range your iron sights to hit shots at distance, all add up to give a really fun and "thoughtful" experience. I agree the modern setting makes it much easier for players to get straight into PvP, and a more modern level of technology significantly changes what a single player can do on the field. Older tech is a nice change of pace and one I've found carries with it challenges that require a heightened level of teamwork to overcome. Both are fun!
Something I think that was a great addition to the game that I think the playerbase is still adapting to is supply costs for respawning. Modern servers, with all their doohickeys, really put a strain on the logistics system in the game. Good luck finding a Darkgru server that has FOBs with enough supplies to spawn at. In the Cold War scenarios, I feel like people will focus much more on the "essentials", even with the new addition of camouflage uniforms. (The bane of my existence in this game is all the people who just play dress up in spawn and suck out supplies)

Arma reforger has issues but when your not getting kicked or dropping connection its fantastic if you have it grab a mic and hop on dark gru you will enjoy yourself

Two Arma videos from Drewski in as many weeks; life is good! Also I have to say Reforger is looking increasingly impressive, I'm almost ready to buy in at this point.
EDIT: 3:15 I seen this quite a few times in your Arma videos at this point, but it never fails to impress me! I'm a Star Citizen player and we literally just got birds added to the game. I can't wait till we can actually detect player movement based off their behaviour like this; so simple but so cool.

Goddamit Drewski, I've always watched your arma videos and thought it looked like fun but I didnt have the time to pour into it, I got Arma reforger two days ago and I am hooooked!

Offical SYD Conflict servers are pretty busy from about 10am throughout the weekend. I play on them regularly. Also USA servers are pretty playable from Australia. Also there are a couple of community servers that often looks pretty busy
i have been loving klean's reforger servers. reforger really is in its golden age right now imo

My entire issue with Reforger currently is a combination of the stability of the servers (I frequently lose connection despite not having this issue with any other game) and the game can feel extremely unintuitive.
A good example is deciding where to spawn to be with your squad when joining a server. I also haven’t found a lot of squads who want to work together.
By removing some choice and increasing some QOL features (which may not be realistic) I just feel like Squad is so much more assessable while still fulfilling the same niche.
I played the trial of reforger when it came out, was decent, I can only imagine the mods make it 10x better.
I would love to see you do a video explaining all the tactical jargon and callouts in these videos
