Yes, people don't often know that the BFA is going to deflect the gases round about, which the flash hider normally (hopefully) reduces...the BFA is required to provide the gas back pressure to operate the automatic reload mechanism, since the blank generally has almost no gas pressure in the barrel, no bullet being "pushed" against the barrel friction.

GREAT video, as always! A quick note about the "Mozambique" or "Failure to Stop" Drill; the background is a bit different than what you told in the video, though I have heard that version myself many times, so no worries about repeating it. The origin actually took place after the Portuguese withdrawal from Mozambique, Angola, and Guinea, when the new Mozambiquan government was allowing ZANU--the Chinese- and American-backed communist terrorist group--to use its territory as a safe haven and training/mobilization ground for raids into the Republic of Rhodesia. The Rhodesian security forces reciprocated this arrangement by violating Mozambiquan sovereignty in numerous cross-border raids, both by mechanized infantry (see the spectacular Operation Eland/Nyadzonya Raid), and more often by helicopter insertion. On one such of the latter missions, against air assets at Laurenco Marques (currently Maputo) Airport, an American volunteer with the Rhodesian Army was in combat against ZANU irregulars and Mozambiquan Army troops, and was forced to employ his sidearm against an enemy. His pistol was chambered in 9mm (not sure what model of pistol, as the Rhodesians used a smattering of different secondary weapons) and was loaded with 124gr ball ammunition; a very ballistically-ineffective load. This volunteer fired two rapid, aimed shots into the center of mass of the charging enemy, which staggered his opponent a bit, but did not cause him to cease aggressive action. He then took more careful aim and fired one shot into the forehead of his enemy, dropping him instantly. Later, this volunteer was in one of Jeff Cooper's training classes at Gunsite Academy, and recounted this story, giving it the name "Mozambique Drill" after the locale where the action took place, though not after the independence struggle against the Portuguese or later FRELIMO-RENAMO civil war that took place domestically within the country. While originally developed to compensate for the poor ballistic performance of ball ammunition from handguns, it is also employed using rifles to counter the threat of an opponent wearing Level IV ballistic armor that stops rifle hits to center-of-mass. Normally, as in the movie, employing the Mozambique drill with any weapon in 7.62 NATO would be massive overkill, but with the greater prevalence of rifle-rated body armor, it is taught and employed as a technique even with primary weapons. I only know this history myself because in writing my book on the AR-10 I interviewed two Rhodesian veterans of this particular raid on Laurenco Marques, who told me the story. Suffice it to say, the Dutch-produced ArmaLite AR-10 was employed by at least two Rhodesian air-mobile infantry in this raid as well!

Great movie and some really badass tools used in this movie. The FAL, Galil and the HK rifles are all holy grail items I’d love to have. I can only imagine the people who didn’t know about a movie being filmed around that area😂 you should do a video on the tools used in the first Matrix, maybe some cowboy movies both old and new school like Young Guns/Django etc etc, Den of Thieves, man I could think of so many that would be good “weapons of” videos. I bet a lot of us could if we sat down and thought about it lol great video man. I really enjoyed it.

@gunznmovies It's rare to see a content creator listen to his fans nowadays. Keep going like this man and one day you'll be like Brendon or Demolition Ranch even. 💪🏻💪🏻
Excellent video from an superb movie. There was a very good reason for the Galil rifle to have a bottle opener; it was found that the soldiers were opening bottles using the magazine lips! It seems that it worked well enough as a bottle opener, but of course it did nothing good to the magazine. 😁 Grunts being grunts, it was decided that the safest course of action was to incorporate a real bottle opener in every rifle. The American soldiers in Vietnam were also said to use the open three pronged flame hider of the early M-16A1s as a crow bar to break the mettalic strips which closed boxes and ration crates. This open flame hider model also tended to catch on weeds, so it was closed on its front. See, there is a reason for about everything! 😀
VERY, VERY good review,.. I am old enough to remember the original Miami Vice series, as a new cop then, and a “gun” guy, Michael was using guns there that were unheard of at that time. The guns here were again not basically off the shelf. Great work on his part, and, great on your work detailing them all. 👍👍👍
@@gunznmovies The Mozambique Drill is a trademark of Michael Mann films. The first of his movies to feature that killing technique is Thief with James Caan from 1981.
I purchased an FNC (.223 Sporter) variant back in 1990. The only distinctive differences being, that it lacks a select-fire option as it was created by FNH specifically for the civilian market, which was equipped with semi-automatic fire only, although the selector does rotate to all four positions. The rifle enjoyed a very short run due to the assault weapons ban of that period, so based on that, FNH decided that there was no reasonable market for the rifle and stopped producing/importing it. It still occupies a prominant place in one of my gun safes to this very day.
I carried a 1991A1 compact for a few years back in late 92 till about 04. alloy frame made nice to carry. moved on to Beretta 92SBC in the mid 2000's up until 2020. Loved both.
Don't ask me why, but I always wondered what kind of gun Al Pacino used in that long bank robbery shoot-out scene. Thanks for clearing that up. FN FNC. Interesting...
Great job, lots of fun, lots of info. I came here because I have never been able to figure out what Pacino was using, now I know it's the FN FNC 5.56, although the armorer made it more "hollywood" like, I love that rifle, so, thanks. Just looked it up, over $4K, guess I'm not getting this one.

Earned yourself a sub :) Just keep honing your editing skills and I'm sure your channel will blow up any time now :) I suggest just doing all the Michael Mann films that have gun action in them. He's just such a master at portraying intense gun fights. Collateral, Miami Vice, Black Hat - they all have amazing shootouts.
I really appreciate that man thank you for the support and the recommendations! got them all on the list 👍 Hoping to get those editing skills perfected soon, especially the audio lol.
Great video. However I must point out that the image you use for the Beretta 84FS is that of the original 84. They made the original followed by the B, BB, F and FS. The main cosmetic differences is the FS has a flat black finish (not blued), full checkered grips (not half checkered) and squared trigger guard (not curved).
The Type-56 is the Chinese AK variant, the “AK-47” we all know is a type-3 milled receiver that went into full production. The AKM is an improved stamped version of the receiver.
Good video. Just for historical information, the LAPD at the time carried Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight shotguns...not Remington or Mossberg. In the early 2000s they switched out the old, beat up, Ithacas for Remington 870s. They sold the old Ithacas to the officers if you had been originally trained with the Ithaca. I forget what the price was...something like $130. I bought one that was all beat to hell. However, it had stamped on the receiver the only thing I was interested in...Los Angeles Police Department. That made it worth a multitude more than I paid for it.
I had the SiG P-220 CarryR. I’ve shot the Colt 733 with a muzzle break that sent the sound out the sides and even with ear protection, got my ears ringing. I’ve also shot the HK 51,an eight inch barrel version of the G-3. Hold on tight to that one!
I’m still convinced that the GTA5 story was inspired by this movie. Micheal / Mastermind Trevor / Crazy Waingro Franklin / Driver looking for prosperity
This is also the movie that would spark the spark the Pachine/De Niro duo that we know of today. Absolutely beautiful masterpiece and I can’t wait for the prequel to come out
Little movie gun insider intel 🙃- Besides its iconic profile and timeless Italian sexiness - the Beretta 92 family of handguns finds its way into so many movies and TV shows because of its ease of conversion and reliability on-set to fire and cycle with movie blanks. great video - subbed up for sure - never get tired of 'movie gun' videos - suggestion: since the sequel is due to release soon (oe has already?) give Den of Thieves a go - plenty of solid gun-play in that one!! cheers!
I did not know that very cool fact, might have to add that note into a future video hahah. Thank you for the support though man I appreciate it and more on the way soon! Also dont worry I got Den of Thieves on the list!
Now I know, I could not tell what rifle Al Pacino was using in the shoot out scene, a FN model, my guess was a Fabrique National but I couldn't tell for sure because the action was so fast, thanks for clearing that up.
You can imagine on the day of filming, people going about their business a block away who had no idea a film was being shot, diving for cover when they heard all the gun fire! I bet the 911 switchboard got swamped that day! 😂😂

Just a little detail; at timestamp 10:16 - the version seen carried by the Norwegian soldier is actually an AG3, produced under licence by Kongsberg from 1967 - 1974, the buttstock is actually 2cm longer than on the HKG3...

Great video man. Love the way this is put together. The movie "The way of the gun" would be good one to try. Another very realistic gun handling movie.
I second that motion. I was about to suggest the movie as well but you beat me to it :) The final shootout in Way the Gun ist just so much fun!
The production quality is amazing! You earned youself a sub!
That is great to hear thank you man I appreciate it!
These movie weapon analysis videos are awesome!!👏
haha thank you more coming soon!
Thank you man i appreciate that greatly! And got them all on the list don’t even trip 👍
Damn! This weapons analysis is deeper AND more serious than the subject matter movie 🎥 👀
Lmaoo I don’t know about that but thank man I really appreciate that! 🙏
Audio back at 1:17
And off again at 18:41 😂
THANK UOU
😂 I was trippin for a sec. Thanks
just bought the headphones I'm using about 2h ago I panicked
@@gre2060 I feel like UA-cam purposely messed the video up
Best shooting scene in a movie EVER.
Please keep doing this content! Can't really find it anywhere else!
You got it man, more to coming soon!
awesome video, your explanations, research, and narration is great. love the background heartbeat noise too. also seeing a "compact" version of a FN FAL battle rifle is pretty interesting. that gun is huge. thanks for the vid
11:17 i love how the actor flinches from being shot then returns into driving position then looks like he just remembered he is supposed to be dead and gets into a slouched position
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS MAN!! You got a fan for life 💯💯
For sure man Im glad you enjoy it, thank you for the support I appreciate it greatly!
Grunts being grunts, it was decided that the safest course of action was to incorporate a real bottle opener in every rifle. 😀
Just came across this and had no idea that it was a redo. Great video!
Audio loss at several moments, great video, love the movie.
One of my all time favorite movies. Been watching it since I was 19 and I’m almost fifty now! Never gets old!
You should do a video about all the weaponry used in “The Town”. Some great firearms in that film. Cheers, Brother. Keep up the good work.
I will 100% be covering that one in that future👍thank you tho man appreciate the support!
Nice work brother.
Keep making more of these. The research is amazing
thank you man I really appreciate that! I am def gonna try to make it better too and try to bring in more history around the guns I cover.
Nice video, I really enjoyed it. Helps make a superb movie just a little bit better.
haha thank you man I appreciate that! thats what Im hoping for.
Best best sound editing ever for a gun fight
Okay this was simply a great video all around. Very informative and well done. Subbed🤘🏻🤘🏻
thank you man I appreciate that!
VERY, VERY good review,.. I am old enough to remember the original Miami Vice series, as a new cop then, and a “gun” guy, Michael was using guns there that were unheard of at that time. The guns here were again not basically off the shelf. Great work on his part, and, great on your work detailing them all. 👍👍👍
thank you man I appreciate that greatly!
Excellent video. I hope the next one can be Desperado, it has some unusual pieces that are worth seeing.
Thats a great movie, I got one in the works right now but I will definitely add it too the list!
Incredible sound in this movie. Nice line up of weaponry
6:08 I'm a fan of Star pistols and have a collection of them and the mention of the Starvel finish makes me happy. So thank you.
Tom Cruise also performs a flawless Mozambique Drill in the film Collateral
That movie and that scene is awesome, that one is for sure on my list of movies to cover!
@@gunznmovies The Mozambique Drill is a trademark of Michael Mann films. The first of his movies to feature that killing technique is Thief with James Caan from 1981.
@@BorderlineEnlightenment “…make certain of demise…”
Great job! Sgt Drucker also had Mossberg 590 Lt Hanna shot at McCauley with one in the last airport scene. Awesome video breakdown.
you are absolutely right and thank you man I appreciate the support!
I love these movie weapon breakdowns. Den of thieves, the town, dead presidents, bad boys, belly, the professional, desperado and sicario please
I appreciate that man thank you for the support! and no worries all are already on the list my friend 👍
This review was really interesting. Great job!
thank you for the support, I greatly appreciate it! More to come soon
Loved both.
That is awesome
Great video, you need to do the Expendables, there are a boat load of candy in that movie
I will def cover those at some point for sure!
Well done.😊 you can tell Michael Mann is a gun guy cuz he likes to get all the details just right.
Just looked it up, over $4K, guess I'm not getting this one.
thank you man I appreciate it! and hahah ya those things are pricey
why the audio cut?
I put explanation in description of video lol sorry just kind of tired of typing the whole thing out
@gunznmovies nah don't be sorry
Dope video I enjoy the the longer videos keep it up man
Thank you man I appreciate it! and oh there will for sure be some even longer ones, some of these movies got more guns than I can even count lol. But worth it.
Well done thanks for sharing. Great movie. 😊👍
Would like to see weapons used in Point Break (1991)
That would be amazing
Ah Point Break. Classic
I will 100% do that one in the near future! very awesome movie.
They put a bottle opener on the Galil so the soldiers wouldn’t use the feedlips on the magazines. Great video, got a new sub!
haha such a cool design, thank you man I appreciate the support!
Great video, so much detail.
So many movies out there that could do with this analysis. Suggestions : Predator; Sicario (& no.2); Die Hard
thank you man I really appreciate that, ur absolutely right too endless amounts of movies to cover. Im so happy people seem to be liking the content, I would luv to keep making it for as long as can for you guys! And no worries those are on the list 👍
If I had a gun to my head and had to decide what my all-time favorite movie is, I'd say HEAT in heartbeat. This is an awesome video, nicely done. Earned yourself a sub :) Just keep honing your editing skills and I'm sure your channel will blow up any time now :)
I suggest just doing all the Michael Mann films that have gun action in them.
@gunznmovies Awesome! Looking forward to it 😊
Great video. However I must point out that the image you use for the Beretta 84FS is that of the original 84. They made the original followed by the B, BB, F and FS. The main cosmetic differences is the FS has a flat black finish (not blued), full checkered grips (not half checkered) and squared trigger guard (not curved).
oh shit thats my mistake, I'll make that fix for future videos thanks for the feedback though!
You can't tell but I was salivating the entire time the FNC was on screen
I wanted to be pedantic about the Type 56-1 being an "AK-47", but this is one of the rare cases where that's actually correct.
Incorrect, _AK-47_ is a prototype designation. The Type-56 was based on the third AK production model (Type-III AK)
Love it. Since Way of the Gun I've wanted one of those Galils.
Some of the best shootouts ever put on the big screen.
Excellent Episode, Excellent Channel.
Subscribed.
I appreciate the support greatly thank you man!
@gunznmovies You put in an immense amount of high quality work, and I appreciate you doing that.
You should do one for Hard Boiled 1992!
I had the SiG P-220 CarryR. I’ve shot the Colt 733 with a muzzle break that sent the sound out the sides and even with ear protection, got my ears ringing. I’ve also shot the HK 51,an eight inch barrel version of the G-3. Hold on tight to that one!
Just watched this last night easily one of the favorites
Apart from the action scenes, _Heat_ leaves much to be desired
@@TheSundayShooter Yes, it dragged on in certain parts.
I’m still convinced that the GTA5 story was inspired by this movie.
Micheal / Mastermind
Trevor / Crazy Waingro
Franklin / Driver looking for prosperity
well the mission Blitz play apparently was heavily based on this film, I think they even rob an armored truck in it.
This is also the movie that would spark the spark the Pachine/De Niro duo that we know of today. Absolutely beautiful masterpiece and I can’t wait for the prequel to come out
... Pacino*/DeNiro duo
This is one of my favorite movies!
Love the HK DeNiro carries. Best pistol I ever owned was an HK USP Compact .45.
Really well done!
thank you man!
Man, your content is amazing for gun enthusiasts like me keep up the good work.
I have got to watch this badass film one of these days.
you absolutely should, its a one of the best!
You gotta my guy! Absolute classic! I just rewatched it the day before this vid came out
Its free on YT Great movie
Finally. A channel for me.
You can imagine on the day of filming, people going about their business a block away who had no idea a film was being shot, diving for cover when they heard all the gun fire! I bet the 911 switchboard got swamped that day! 😂😂
I would be shitting my pants if I was headed to the office that day and starting hearing all that😂
@@gunznmovies To hell with the office! I would have bolted the opposite direction... lol
Still one of the greatest “action films” in the entirety of cinematic history, even after 30 years, it still stands head and shoulders above the vast majority of movies, full stop. Also, I’m extremely happy to have seen this upload in my recommended feed!!! You definitely snagged yourself a new subscriber, due in no small part to your fantastic breadth and depth of knowledge regarding the weapon systems featured in the film, solid production value, smooth presentation style and of course, the unique channel ethos. Nothing but respect 🫡
Legit my #1 favourite movie
Just a little detail; at timestamp 10:16 - the version seen carried by the Norwegian soldier is actually an AG3, produced under licence by Kongsberg from 1967 - 1974, the buttstock is actually 2cm longer than on the HKG3...
Suscribed brother. Keep the videos up
Thank you man I appreciate that 🙏
This is great. Id ask for you to do the Sopranos
for sure man, I luv that show, once I get better at editing and just general video quality Im going try and start doing some tv shows.
The FNC is such a awesome rifle of a time long gone. A true crown jewel of any serious collector!!!!
Hell yea brother, Big improvements.
I have no asshole comments to leave, And im impressed you put in the tidbit about hk91s being rare in the us.
I still love the m16
haha thank you man I appreciate that! I thought that would be an interesting note to add to it for the hk91. Still got a lot of work to do tho to make these videos even better.
Fun fact: The stuntman with the TMP who gets shot and empties his mag uselessly, Max Daniels, was also in the film True Lies the year before.
He also had a TMP. Guess what he does in that movie with it? :)
hahah can you give me a hint?
@@gunznmovies Well, it may be something very similar :P
Well done, thank you !
Haha no thank you!
