QANTAS - the Australian airline has, for decades, provided a service it calls PAN (Pilot Assistance Network) to it's flight crew. - PAN pilots initially undergo basic mental health first aid training, and continually have their skills augmented by training courses undertaken by specialised professionals and the company's clinical psychiatrist. Their role is primarily to listen to the pilot concerned, and calmly help redirect them to a range of professional assistance options. They also make follow up appointments, which may simply be a coffee somewhere. Their reporting lines are not to pilot management - unless suicide is contemplated. The PAN pilots report individual issues - retaining pilot anonimity - to PAN management only, in order to gain advice and resources, and track trends. - I'm sure that many airlines maintain a similar system, as it provides yet another filter in the already robust airline safety structure.

Sometimes when I fly I feel like I am entering a toxic work environment
This happened 48 hours after taking mushrooms. Don’t blame the drug. You tried to end yourself and everyone on the plane. Got caught and thought of the first scape goat you could.
Why is he not in jail? No one forced him to take mushrooms
Well….we all know YOU won’t ever fly again.
Those poor passengers that were around him, holy sh!t!!!😮
Something is not right! I would hope he is never in the cockpit again. Too much at risk. That perception should be considered conventional wisdom.
Ex-pilot. The consequence is still the same...
He said there was a feeling of being trapped and that makes sense because there is not mushroom in the cockpit
What?
@@AC-te9dr not much room in the cockpit- play on words. Flyover lol
Ever hear that rumor that you can never become an astronaut if you’ve taken LSD before? That kinda makes sense now.
Glad that I wasn't on that flight...for God's sake...
He needs mental health support, jail and to be er be allowed to fly a passenger plane again.
Criminal negligence
Yeah no it’s a very personal decision to take and use magic mushrooms, especially because of the fact that the average trip duration lasts 8 hours. This guy would have gotten halfway through his trip and said fuck it anyways. It’s a good thing the plane was able to be brought to the ground before he killed everybody, but it doesn’t remove his responsibility from the question. This is downright stupid and I hope he never flys a single plane again.
I would never fly a plane you pioleted Mr Shroom.
I'm not feeling sorry for this guy.
This guy has to be a sociopath
Same kind of guy who thinks you have to start up on the roof if you're gonna try out your newfound power of psychedelic mind flying?
And what kind of person decides to wake themselves from a possible nightmare by condemning co-workers and scores of passengers to fiery deaths? If you are questioning reality, you err on the side of safety, especially for others. Interested in more about this guy and his story.
I think mushrooms are an excuse, here, and not the real reason behind his behavior.
He should never be able to be a pilot again he needs to be stripped of his pilot's license and banned from ever getting another one! He is putting hundreds of lives on the line!
He has lol just because you demand something, it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
Will you interview the guy that did the drive by so we can understand how he felt? If not, who cares about this thug that tried to kill a 100 people.
Pshhh. If my pilot isn’t confident to fly that bird while trippin’ on shrooms then my friend, I want another pilot.
What kind of side effect is that!?
I’m very happy that you won’t be a pilot again bud
wtf did I just open my phone to?
You'll in here mad about him. But you'll ain't mad about the Aircraft they fly. 😂😂😂
DID HE REALLY TAKE MAGIC MUSHROOMS OR WAS HE TRYING TO KILL HIMSELF AND BLAMING THE MUSHROOMS???????? HOW DO WE KNOW HE'S TELLING THE TRUTH??????
Narcissist‼️How dare you! No compassion for his passengers. Talk about inhumane 🫏 of the day
He was even smirking about it..what a pos
snowflake ❄️
Psychedelics usually last less than 12 hours. This explanation is only reasonable if he's a borderline Schizophrenic. If so, why is it only being picked up on now.
Psychedelics can last in your system for days
There's no other signs of schizophrenia
It is entirely normal for psychedelics to incite schizophrenic hallucinations in adulthood
You don't know what you're talking about
Most pilots hide any sort of mental illness they have since saying something about it could get your license revoked (even stuff like autism and ADHD) can get your license revoked or not be able to pass medicle
Typical edited and out of context short.
Well, ABC did it, themselves, NOT a random UA-camr. All for clicks. Drive you, and others, to their site, to watch the whole thing. Sounds like you did, though.
@@johndanielsforJesusThe majority aren't going to watch the full interview.
@@coldsamon - True that. 👍👍
Just do the right thing sir, find another career on ground. Mistakes still have consequences but doesn’t mean you can’t be forgiven… we are ALL guilty of things some more serious than others but we must face and accept our consequences of our decisions in all areas of our and other lives.
Pilot: there’s a very real possibility that you don’t fly again.
Everyone: doin that shit none of your passengers will make it to another flight.
Never...I decry. DISMISSED.
It’s all about choices. He made some very bad choices, primarily ingesting psychedelics.
I’ve lost my mind on mushrooms. I understand the exact feeling he was having. But I KNOW ITS A FEELING AND REALITY IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING WHILE MH BRAIN IS CREATING A CHEMICAL REACTION. I must never react to it especially when feeling that moment. (Anyone who’s lost it understands the feeling. It’s like you’re back in the hole but sober… it doesn’t seem possible because your sober)
We’re all trapped man like in this society man
Um yeah he should NOT fly again. At least not with anyone else on board.
This guy has got to be trolling, right?
🤕 ….and your point being?
Why isnt this guy in prison???
Who cares what his problem is.
That’s the answer to everything huh? Prison ? Lol us U.S. Americans are lazy to do anything about the problems.
He should be in federal prison!!! Bet hey, that will ruin the stats and data and arguments.
Mushroom's and flying a passenger airplane...Not very bright dude..
Yes, you are definitely trapped inside that plane, everybody is until we reach Cincinnati. Have a Biscoff cookie and chill.
This has to be a psyop
As a alien on my ship scrolling what the fuck y’all got going on down there
Revoke his license
