Every time I miss Macedonia I watch this video. Then my spirit is fortified again. It is a beautiful region in the world, filled with ancient wisdom and beauty that is palpable even today in this modern times. Like a hidden jewel,it returns smile for smile and lures you in with its humbleness. It belongs to nobody. No intellectual or historical superiority can claim it. Enjoy it! I certainly do.
To those who dont know Macedonia well - before making an opinion about this country you should carefully study it's history and visit its beauty and then say if it is Bulgarian, Greek, Serbian or something else because we live in an era where the medias and politicians force you to believe things that they want you to believe. You should hear the voices of the people who live in this country and then say if they are bulgarians, greeks or something else! I am Macedonian and I will always be one!

After Philipus rejoined Greece by uniting all the greek city states, he had already drove off the foreign tribes north of Macedonia(as I said before).Then Alexander conquered all over Persia which was a major greek enemy for many years. Alexander the Great marched till India where he stopped. All over his empire the cities have greek names and the Hellinism (hellinic spirit and culture) was widely spread. That's why you see many of the people living there today have some same habbits with us.

The best place of finding the true information are the books wich are being wrote from anonymus writers. So frankly, I dont believe what those people have said, because those writers that you have said are maybe one of those people who are following the Greek propaganda about the Macedonian name.

@petdou1 The surnames Pandev, Ivanov are result of the Bulgarian occupation in the time of the WW2 and Macedonians were forced to change their real surnames. The holiday Ilinden that we celebrate shows the fight of Macedonian people with the Turks in the period of 1903. This fight took over in the town of Krusevo (which is today in the borders of Macedonia, not Bulgaria) and its countryside. The other holidays that we celebrate are Orthodox holiday. And yet you cant understand this facts!

I do not say that we're the direct descendants from the ancient Macedonians because it is a question of more than 2000 years ago, which means many new settlers have been arrived on the Balkans: Slavs,Turks and some of the ancient Macedonians have stay, some fled.
We do have Slavic character, but the DNA is not necessarily Slavic.

There is a difference but you don't want to recognize it! The Macedonian and Bulgarian languages have different signs and we do not speak in a same way.
Also remember that the real Bulgarians are not Slavs but Asian tribe.
However, the ancient Macedonian and the ancient geek are different languages and you can't take that name as yours.
