The tribute series was great! If you search around there are deals to be had on used Gibsons. It just takes patience. I got a LP tribute on a scratch and dent deal and I love it.
Have you tried an Epiphone LP Modern? The 2020 models? Those have a ton of value. I played my friend’s - was shocked. The neck shape is really comfortable for a variety of playing styles. Would be cool to stack up your new Gibson against a few Epiphone models, just to see if the Epi’s can hold their own are are better than the “lower end” Gibbies. But yeah, everyone dreams of owning a Gibson. And the kids of tomorrow will want an Epiphone with the way things have changed aged in Epiphone Land. But anyway, I’m glad you picked up a Tribute - people say they’re true workhorses. Great pickup swap too. I would also want the pickups to split. Enjoy! 🤘🏻🎸😎🔊🎶🫨
2019 was the year to buy those. No weight relief. I've got a 2020. Bought it used at guitar center for 900. Immaculate. Somebody blew a stimulus check and probably played it twice. I love mine.
Congratulations on your new find. There’s something about a Les Paul that just screams killer tone. I guess what I’m trying to say is Les Paul’s have a certain sound to them which is awesome. Mods are always necessary no matter what guitar it is. I loved the pearly gate pickup SD are some of my favorite pickups but you should try some Bill Lawrence L500 XL’s. I have them in a few of my Dimebag guitars (Washburn Deans). I love hearing you play guitar there is just something about it that makes me wanna continuously listen and my motto is “good music makes your head nod.” Excellent playing my shred brother from another mother. Joyo is an awesome company, I own a Joyo amp (zombie) and I also own a few of their overdrive pedals. Great bang for your buck. Thanks for the content Josh, so far you are doing an excellent job. Wait where is the comedy skit, destruction of a helpless box lol. Those should be in every video. Get naked, get your shred on, and keep it bluesy. #Guitar

Thanks for reading my comment and keep shredding my metal brother. #Guitar
I bought a 2017 Tribute. They have mahogany necks. Got it in 2018 as a clearance sale for …….. $809.00. Hey, the 2018’s were coming out. Only mods are a poker chip and a blank truss rod cover.
Keep up the great work! BTW, Some people are never happy... claiming these don't stack up. Why? Because there is no binding and extra frills? Who cares? These things are awesome in every way for the money. Too bad they were discontinued. Maybe it will be easy to buy one from someone who doesn't feel it's worthy of their refined exquisite sense of taste 🧐😂
Finally affordable, but unfortunately discontinued last year. Now the only "affordable" new Gibson Les Paul for people on a budget is a $1500 studio or "lite". Some Epiphones cost more than that Tribute did new. I still think a Les Paul Classic for $2100/2200 is a fair price for a new American made Les Paul with all the bells and whistles, though a used Standard IMO is the way to go.
I think if I were in the market for a Les Paul I'd skip Gibson in favor of a Heritage, or more likely a CMG, or a PRS, Tokai or Edwards. I do like Gibson's SGs though.
@@StephenGangi Yes it's a 9.5 radius like the strat and the scale length is less than a Gibson's. With Fender you can have too long or too short but not just right :). The Duosonic is another one with a shorter scale length.
@@claytonfellner8610 Thanks. The stratosonic is almost just right except it has no tremolo and I don't want a beefy neck. It does have a 12" neck radious and the 24.75" radius which is nice. The Squier paranormal cyclone has a tremolo and 24.75" scale but round fretboard like a strat which I don't like and they don't make it anymore. You might find it for sale online but you can't try it out and see if the neck feels okay. It's offset too. I don't know if I can get used to that. Offsets are not just offset. They also have a weird shape at the bottom for no apparent reason. :-)

Finally a great guitar that is not from a cheap supplier. It would be difficult to buy the cheapest chevy and say it is just as good as a cadillac but....... Sure it will go from point a to point b. It still don't stack up. No matter how shinney.

Very grateful for your support 🙏
LP Scale Length is 24 3/4" btw
Pretty sure he knows that. Just misspoke. 😉 👍🏻

A common error.
I read that its actually closer to .5 than .75

Nice LP. The Pearly Gates set is terrific. I had a Pearly Gates on an old early 80s Charvel. Sounded amazing.
I'm with ya, brother. I've wanted one My entire life. The closest I've gotten is an Epi and several copies. ONE day. One day.
You deserve all the Gibsons in the world!!

awesome riffage too!
The tributes were awesome. I got a 2018 gold top. She weighs over 8 1/2 pounds. Paid under a grand for it. Imo the 2017 was the best sounding one.
Nice playing Professor

Fender should make a strat with a gibson scale length and a flatter fretboard like a Gibson.
*If I remember*, the Jaguar has a short scale length. I think the fretboard is still rounder (tighter radius) than the Gibsons though.
The Squier Stratosonic is awesome if you can get used to the P90 pickups. 24.75 scale length, LP fretboard feel, but a beefy neck.

how much is affordable?
This is Gibson we're talking about, so probably "slightly less sticker shock than usual."
I bought the exact same guitar for... I think 575 Canadian... brand new " on sale"... maybe 8 years ago?
8 years ago... That's like $2200 in today's money 😂
