Thanks for this, nice to see such healthy plants. I have been rooting this plant directly in water with 100% success, and then going in to soil. Bee Balm wants to live.
@@ilikeyourblooms7967 Do not fret my friend. Your video started the conversation. Witness here the power and revolution of independent creators mixed with helpful comments from the audience. Now I know what to do today for my Bee balm. I am not surprised water works to propagate because bee balm, I just remembered, is a member of the mint family and as far as I know all mint easily roots in water. Gratitude! Good work! Subscribed! ❤️🙏🏼🦅👈🏽
I've been trying to save seed but very few if any are found. How many cuttings can you get out of a stem 18-24" long? Do I only need 2 nodes each, one to grow roots and the top to grow flowers? And seeing this is Autumn now, how do I keep them until April, or do I try planting them before Winter in the Northeast? Thanks.
I’ve had little success with seeds, I have grown some but it takes a bit longer to establish a successful plant. Collecting seeds to attempt indoor grows during the winter is always a good thing! The best luck I’ve had is with cuttings, it only takes 2 to 3 weeks to establish a decent root system off the cuttings, and it’s an already mature plant.but if you plant them early enough or even bury a pot with it started in it should get it through the winter. I’m gonna bring some indoors and leave some planted in pots outside and see if both methods are successful. And out of a almost 2 foot piece I think you should get 3 to 4 cuttings depending on how many nods on it maybe more! I wish you the best of luck and thanks for your questions!
I just did this with my red bergamot. Is it as fast spreading as mint? I'd like to pop some in around my new pond. Also... the mother plant has brown spots on the leaves and hasnt flowered well this year. Is that just from it not getting enough water? Or does it sound like disease?
Do you want to give it a good soak at first, ideally that first water if you’re keeping it, in an area with 80 to 100% humidity that might be your only watering you need to do for at least two weeks. You don’t want them soaked and you don’t want them to dry out. If they’re too wet they’ll easily mold. Hope that answers some of your questions!
i planted like 6 of these last year in 3 different spots, now I have like 70 of them, I have never seen a plant spread so aggresively but its ok.....I want to attract hummingbirds lol
If you don’t already have some in the yard go buy a nice plant planet in the ground and start taking cuttings from it! Probably the easiest plan I’ve propagated so far, You can literally cut a piece and stick it in some dirt without any rooting hormone
The plant seems very hardy. I bet if you get the right cut you could get it to root without it. But rooting hormone always helps, doesn’t guarantee anything. Either way I wish you luck 🍀

Dannng! Just the water, must be a pretty easy one then! I’ll have to try that, I’ve gotten about 6 new plants off this plant in the last month 🌱

It’s hard to tell how much moisture is in your medium. Does it matter how wet the medium is?

That’s awesome I wish that happened in my yard lol they definitely will bring in the hummingbird make sure you put out some sugar water too
THANK YOU I AM 71 AND I WANT TO LEARN

How long was it in the tote?
How do you keep the foliage so green on your bee balm?
The plant is a sun plant, but it does stay darker in a little bit more shady environment. It gets between 4 to 6 hours an afternoon light
What are the chances of me getting roots with no rooting hormone?
