Really benefit by your added notes and highlights in your video. And adding some humor is always good too. ;-)
Thank you! You have good timing, because I was just wondering today whether I should not add in all those extra notes on the screen. It takes a lot more time to edit the video with them added in. It's good to know someone has found it helpful!
What is the crawling larva at 5:15? SHB? Wax moth? Any concern if you see this?
Nice catch! I meant to put a note on the screen about it. It is a wax moth larva. They look similar to Small hive beetle larvae but it is BAD if you see SHB larva crawling around and usually there is also slime and they are smaller. This larva is bigger and although it's not great to see them, if you're not seeing webbing and the hive has a strong population, it's not a big deal. It's important to look at the frame it's on and the rest of the hive to determine if there's an infestation and something needs to be done ASAP or if it's a long larva that's been sneaking around the hive. I sometimes see them under the towel I use under the lid to trap the small hive beetles.
5:10 as we see the bee hatching, what is the white worm we briefly see on the bottom right? Is that a larva changing places?
Sir, our country is Bangladesh, I want to keep bees at home, which bee would be better, Apis serena bee or mellifera bee, please tell me sir.🥰❤️❤️
Hey there. I do not know much about Apis Serena, but what I recommend doing is keeping the type of bee that can do two things for you: 1) is native or common in your area so that you are not dealing with too many issues with pests and buying bees. 2) is going to help you accomplish your goals. Are you looking to harvest honey for sale? Pollinate your crops? Apis mellifera are great at making honey, but if you need pollination, then choose the bee that best pollinates the crops you have.
It's pretty generous the time and effort you put into helping us understand what we're doing in the hive and how gracefully you share the bee in your suit. It makes it so much more relatable. I'm so glad I found your UA-cam videos and have signed up for your class and mentorship.
Thank you for such a great comment!!! Please keep in touch as you get your bees and care for them. I love hearing from my students. I am working on spending less time editing these videos. It takes longer than it probably should 🙂
Thanks Laryssa... really helpful vid❤
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful. Let me know if there are topics you'd like to see me address in my next UA-cam video.
