  • Welcome to my channel! KaransPotsAndGlass is the name of my Etsy store... so I used the same name when setting up my UA-cam channel.
Check out my Amazon Influencer Store where I have recommendations for some of my favorite tools and products many of which I use in my videos- which are available on Amazon. www.amazon.com/shop/karanspot...
For the great tools I use in my videos -check out this link to a live Googledoc I continually update with lots of my favorite tools on Amazon using my associate links! (also some non-amazon suggestions on here!)

I am a public high school ceramics teacher at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsA...
I started my UA-cam channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!
Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!

You are not helping only your students but also thousands of others who want to learn pottery. Actually I am learning a lot more from you than in my class ( mostly seniors). I check into your chennel quite often to see if there is any new upload. Thank you Karen!

I teach full-time ceramics up in northeast Ohio, I am SO IMPRESSED by your AWESOME CHANNEL and I am hoping to learn some new project ideas from you. I started building my video repertoire a few years ago, I only have about ten-fifteen, but I love how much it makes it easier on kids who were absent or are gifted and can work ahead or complete extra pieces for themselves. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I think my classroom students will benefit as I learn tips and tricks from you that I can use in my classroom and videos. God Bless You!

I'm so glad I found your channel, your explanations and examples are so concise and easy to understand. I wonder if someday you might make a video or two about your experiences working with Etsy? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!

Oh my gosh, I misspelled your name Karan. Being a foreigner, I am still not quiet familiar with American's name. I am sorry. I visited your ETSY shop and found all those beautiful creations of yours. Every item was detailed with what material and glaze were applied, and seeing the finished productions helped to understand the materials. Thank you again.

Love all of your videos Karan, they provide great instruction for both potters and student potters... I guess that makes us all student potters...LOL As a potter, I love seeing how other potters work with clay, you have shared so many great ideas. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. I send my students to your site often to learn and practice techniques. On a side note, I was able to connect with another potter in South Africa after watching your Ceramics II Glazing the Platter and seeing a comment from her. We have become great pen pals so thanks you for inadvertently introducing us.

HOW neat that you have hit it off with the potter from South Africa! I'm constantly amazed how small the world is made by the internet! Thanks for the kind comments! I'm glad you find the videos are helpful! :-)

Full time ceramics teacher? How cool is that? I went to a high school with 3,000 students and we didn't have a ceramics teacher.

Karan, I'm getting back into pottery. My wheels and kiln were stored in my basement for about 15 years. I also had all of my old glazes which, surprisingly, I was able to mix back up. I love the ideas you give me for creating pots. I just watched your two videos on glazing and glazing examples. I usually throw porcelain or Bmix and use cone 6 glazes. I'd be interested in finding out the source of your glaze recipes. I have Mastering Cone 6 Glazes by Hessleberth and Roy and there is a licorice recipe in there. Do you know if that is the same as your licorice? you also used a black, is that different from the licorice? I really liked the results you got from your glazes and am looking to add to my glazes. My shop is very small right now but hopefully within the next year or so I can move to a larger venue and be a bit more organized. When my late wife and I lived in Northern Virginia we took lessons from a wonderful teacher named Marianne Cordyack. I used to mix all her glazes in return for my lessons. I had a great time doing all that and am looking forward to more pottery. Hopefully my family won't tire of bowls and mugs for gifts! lol Thanks again for the videos and the inspiration.

Karan your videos are great and inspiring to me, thanks for that. Question : where can I find the "Texas 2 step" glazes please ? Because I love the dots effects ... I am in Switzerland and here we can find only Amaco glazes ... Thanks for your advise

Hi Blanc! Here is the email address for Coyote Clay: info@coyoteclay.com They would be able to answer that question better than I can! :) Since I just order in the US, it isn't an issue for me! :)

Good morning! I have playlists of various projects for Ceramics I, Ceramics III, and Wheel Throwing that might be handy for you. Here is a folder of information that I share- I honestly don't have a comprehensive syllabus yet, but you may find this helpful? The questions I use for the homeworks related to the reference documents are built on our school website, so those aren't really shareable. drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8o9XSZB7dN7M2h0WjYxV2R1V0k?resourcekey=0-NA0SkS7TrkbxdpCL4Yw-6g&usp=sharing
