Virtua Cop Arcade port to the Sega Saturn released in 1995.
"A detective in the player's department uncovers an illegal gunrunning operation and traces it back to a powerful crime syndicate named E.V.L. Inc. He compiles a large amount of evidence and is ready to take them down, but he is discovered and assassinated. Some of the evidence manages to make its way back to headquarters and a special task force is put on the case. The policemen Michael Hardy and James Cools must face that organization led by Joe Fang and his followers Kong, the King, and the Boss."
I let the attract mode play out at the start before progressing onto the longplay. Playing with the control pad is difficult as there is barely enough time to move from one target to the next. I don't usually have more than 2 or 3 frames to spare.
I did not play the game for points and just killed as fast as possible in order to stay alive. More points can be gained by disarming the enemies instead of killing them and bullseye shots by landing a central shot which I occasionally do. -

Gotta respect the music producers for this whole soundtrack , straight masterpieces
They don't usually make VGM like this anymore...
@@mattwo7 facts!!!!
@@mattwo7it’s basically arcade music.
@@Pointlesshandle48The melodies might be, but this arrangement is touched up quite a bit from the arcade versions.
Man great times. I remember my dad bought this for me when I was 7. He didn't realize it was a shooter and didn't want me to play it. I was upset at him and hid it from me. I got caught a couple times sneaking and playing it and got in trouble. He's no longer here with me but I sure miss those simpler times getting scolded.
Thanks for the nostalgia!
Hey, my dad is no longer with me either but i let my 7yo play Virtua Cop on Saturn or even House of the dead 2 on Dreamcast. Have you managed to complete the game?
Imagine what happened when I received GTA 3 and Vice City at the age of 11.
The game that gave me the instinct to reload everytime I kill the enemy
Yup
Reload! Reload! Reload!

SHOOT OUTSIDE THE SCREEN!
Holy shit I never thought about that till this comment
An entire generation ruined. Countless deaths in counter strike lmao
These graphics used to be the best ever in 1994.
Indeed they did.
redfoxbennaton77 Obviously but this is an incredibly port given the hardware limitations.
out of all the model2 arcade ports that made their way on to the saturn, this one came the closest in terms of visuals, i actually thought the arcade version ran on titan hardware until i searched google.
but VC 1 in another version it could between by years 1995 and 1996
In the 80's and 90's, Sega was the king of arcade graphics. Hell as early as 1985, Space Harrier was using model 2 hardware which was 16 bit, and it came out 3 years before 16 bit consoles were available!!
Sega should remake all their Virtual games for modern VR
It seems the only thing coming out of Sega's camp these days are Sonic games
Sega re-released Virtua Cop 1 and 2 on the PlayStation 2 in Japan and Europe as Virtua Cop Re-Birth and, by the way of the now-defunct Acclaim, Virtua Cop: Elite Edition, respectively. With the exception of enhanced graphics and features, they were more or less identical to their arcade and Sega Saturn counterparts.
@@Loader2K1 I can't find download to put in my PS2's HDD >.< SLPM-62205 nowhere, the PAL one I see but afraid if has 60hz selector er not..?
EDIT: It damn doesn't..
Gary Beltz dont forget Yakuza
too much money effort to invest in a realistic stuff against all the big companies. and l'm still not talking about the crap unarming policy or culture brainwashing our generations
God that Saturn sound is so good
This game brings back so many memories… me and my dad used to team up and play this game together…. Fantastic memories !
Paying my respects to the game that got me started on shooters.
Wolfenstein got me started on FPS and virtua cop got me started on rail guns .. man the 90s was the best
The blue sky is what I love so much in the older games like these
I had this game on my PC. Damn I miss this game.
it's part 2 man.
I still have 2
I also miss my childhood when watch this game until the end
I played it for the first time in 2004
Yes i used to play it too i had it in my pc very nostalgic
Holy shit. Memories i didn't realize i had
Genuinely disappointed you didn't play this with a light gun. One of my favourite saturn games. Along with Nights: Into Dreams.
Varethius are you me???
"Pretty bold, aren't we? I'll take care of you myself!"
lmbo
"Wait I give up I give up! I'll talk what you wanna know about arakid."
"Gotcha!"
*Dies*
(Dunno if It's arakid or not I really can't tell)
I finally know what he says he says wait I give up I give up I talk what you wanna know about our racket...
This is the most nostalgic thing I have ever watched. Back in the 90s, my brother and I played Sega Saturn games like we stole them. 😂
I remember playing this in the arcade. The cabinet was one of those mirror projection types.
I played this in the late 90's with my cousin. I remember sitting in the floor right in front of the tv and marveling at the amazing graphics and sound.
after searching the game for soooo long (as i had forgotten the name), finally here i am !!!
my childhood! I remember playing this and Road Rash on pc when i was in kindergarten more than a decade ago!! ❤😢
Same. I remember i had a siso cd which had a bunch of games in it. this was my favourite of all. Also i used to spam reload and fire button at the same time which in pc was left mouse and right mouse
Hardest song track from all Sega Saturn games damn!
As a 3 year old, I could’ve sworn my memory was the first boss saying “who’s making all that racket?”
At least he did say the word racket
Gameplay FINALLY starts at 4:25.
makasi bang
OH CHILDHOOD WHERE ART THOU?!
What?
Gone forever. COpe till you croak! Bwahahahahah!
I have deep memories of the dock level always being played at my grandparents house when I was very young.
"Wait, I give up, I give up! I'll talk what you wanna know about our wacket!!"
I like the hostages all yelling "Homie!"
He thought we going to listen 😭
I haven't played or even seen this game since I was 7 years old, yet 27 years later I STILL have memories of this game, and can remember exactly what the bosses said. Crazy how your brain works. Such Nostalgia.
I was SO FUCKING GOOD at this game. I mean you have to be when the police chief of Virtua City only sends two beat cops armed with revolvers to take down a crime syndicate who is smuggling automatic weapons.
Boss dialogue goals.
If this gets a digital release on the Switch, I’m getting it.
Wow, 1994. Good times. Makes all games from 2008+ being all graphics and shit gaming.
Sega (mainly pre-Sonic Team) will always be about making fun games.
I actually find graphics like these more appealing than modern ones.
I just never understood the logic of the Radom crooks running out in the open with the gun and don’t shoot 😂😂
Drew NoWord
Could it be explained as having bullet time at that split second when we are facing them?
Well said but some of them don’t even have the bullet time circle and just be running with guns lol
to distract you.
used to play this on an arcade machine in a restaurant that my family used to visit. i played the game from childhood until late teenage years, never got bored.
9:55 "Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, it expressed the courage little seen in this day and age."
With light guns this game is godlike my brothers and I used to marathon this shit
22:54 Holy cow. That guy always used to get me when I was a kid.
@Angels Exodus YES, EVERY SINGLE TIME.
one of my fav games ever..
2:07 Masterpiece of soundtracks actions 90s! Great times! Work Master by Kentaro Koyama
Man, this takes me back.
This might have been the first game I ever played. My dad had the pistol controller for it and it started me on my journey of loving fps games.
I never played Virtua Cop before. I wish I can play it by using a light gun on my CRT.
@adamuzumaki98 I still have my dad's lightgun and everything, just no CRT to play it on XD I'm sure I could get one at goodwill or something
Flashback to when I was 9 yrs old. Wow. Feels good haha
This was my first game, when i got my saturn on xmas as a kid. I believe it came with the console. Played it for months!! This was such great graphics to me as a kid.
Loved the intros for the 90s!
These types of games need to make a comeback
I still don't understand how they made this at the time. Truly amazing genies are located in SEGA, until the end of gaming.
This game still beautiful! SEGA made an excellent port for the Saturn. Good times...
it wasn't excellent as in 9 out of 10 it was good 5 out of 10 or very close 7 out of 10
A true classic!
When I think Sega the first thing that pops into my head Isn't something like Sonic.
It's games like this.
Sega relied too heavily on the Sonic franchise.
So good memories..
Didn't even kill the hostage!
This brings back alot of my memories with my little bro playing in windows 95 with me on keyboard and my bro on mouse...good time, love this
Sweet lord I miss these days
I love this game so much
Omg, nostalgia just hit me hard.
Fairlight CMI Orchestra Hit sound used in the soundtrack. ☺
Virtua cop 3 in arcades and ghost squad wii and arcade. Where is Virtua Cop for ps3/Ps4?
1994: Plays Virtua Cop at arcade shooting arms dealers.
2021: Plays GTA V Online and dealing arms.
Yes this in VR would be amazing....
Such good game play and sound! What a machine💪
The disembodied voice "automatic!" brings back some memories 🤣
This brings back great memories!! Fun game!! 💯💯😎😎👌👌
"don't shoot me"
What a legendary game
Polygon boys! What'cha gonna do? What'cha gonna do when they render near you?!
Use to hate the terrible sensitivity but still loved having bragging rights that I owned this game in elementary.
4:12-4:45, "Hi, everyone. I'm Dan Abrams and this is our control room at A&E headquarters in New York. We're LIVE from Green River, Texas and five other departments from around the country. THIS is LIVE PD! (Opening sequence shown) Tonight, we are LIVE from the Green River 👮 Department in Green River, Texas, the Pasco County 👮 Department in Pasco County, Florida, the Albuquerque 👮 Department in Albuquerque, New 🇲🇽, the Jeffersonville 👮 Department in Jeffersonville, Indiana, the Richland County 👮 Department in Richland County, South Carolina and the El Paso 👮 Department in El Paso, Texas, and as always, we got more than 30 🎥 following the action. With me in the studio as always is Tom Morris, Jr., a veteran crime reporter and former Washington, D.C. 👮 specialist and joining me in the studio this week are the two men that you saw in the Virtua Cop opening sequence a few minutes ago, Michael Hardy and James Cools. Gentlemen, 😊 evening. (Tom, Michael and James say "good evening" to Dan) Let's go back LIVE now to Green River, Texas, where we're keeping a close eye on something to do with first-degree murders."-Dan Abrams.
I remember first playing this with the gun. I couldn’t hit anything unless I was a few inches from the screen. After about an hour, I was getting direct hits every single shot from the back of the room. Brilliant game.
"James Cools" "Smarty"
Im dying 💀💀💀
I used to think to myself “how awesome it would be if I could walk around freely in the cool virtual world”
Back then Virtua Cop 1&2 were far superior than Time Crisis. Same for the comparison between Sega Rally and Ridge Racer,Virtua Fighter and Tekken etc. I dont know why people chose ps1 instead of Saturn.
I prefer Time Crisis 1 to Virtua Cop 1, personally. But I prefer Virtua Cop 2 to TIme Crisis.
The Saturn is my favourite console and I love its games, but I do think that if you absolutely had to choose one or the other, bias aside, the PS1 has overall a more complete library of games.
a fair comparison would've been Time Crisis vs Virtua Cop
compare Time Crisis vs Virtua Cop 2 is or seems pointless
silly to compare Virtua Cop 3 (2003 ) v Time Crisis 2 (1998)
Time Crisis 3 vs Virtua Cop 3 would've be a fair comparison
the PS1 is (was) better at replicating certain arcade games
@@jasonlee7816 I think you have to make these comparisons since the two Time Crisis games on PS1 are Time Crisis 1 and TC Project Titan, while the Saturn has Virtua Cop 1 and 2 and there aren't a whole lot of lightgun games to go around anyway. Time Crisis is better than Virtua Cop 1, but Virtua Cop 2 (which released the same year as the home port of TC1 anyway I believe) is honestly better than Time Crisis and I'd argue the two were competing more directly. I honestly would take any of those three over Project Titan anyway.
FamilyTeamGaming i think Virtua Cop 2 didn't feel like or wasn't much of an improvement over the original Virtua Cop that is why i thought Time Crisis was a better series
Virtua Cop 1 was amazing back then, but Time Crisis 1 was cool too.
This soundtrack kicks some serious fucking ass! Nostalgia vibes are at 11. Thanks for posting my friend!
My siblings and I used to play the hell out of this back then.
I remember having this for sega saturn with the orange gun-co controller it comes with when you buy the game at the time. This was before the PS2 even became a thing in 2001.
I didn't even know this was made in 1994 like graphics and music kicked serious ass!
I did find it cool you fight a secret boss if you beat the levels in order from left to right. (Hated the construction site level the most lol)
28:32-29:42, "Alright, folks. We are outta time for this week. And a programming 📝: we will be back LIVE, as always, next Friday and Saturday night at the same time: 9:00pm EST/8:00pm CST right here on A&E. For Tom Morris, Jr., James Cools and Michael Hardy and our whole LIVE PD crew, I'm Dan Abrams. We'll 👋🏼 then."-Dan Abrams.
I remember playing this 2 player with my brother. Gun controllers and all.
Sega was cutting edge when it came to console games. Nowadays they develop third party games.
This is that games are make Unforgettable moments
0:25, "(after disclaimer is shown) We are LIVE from Green River, Texas where a few minutes ago, there was a prison riot for civilians who refused to be taken to prison for first-degree murder."-Dan Abrams.
I'm impressed with your accuracy never got that far what king of gun do you use
Virtual cop 2 is better than virtual cop.
I like is game virtual cop in childhood
Epic Era
Jugar esto en los tiempos pasado era lo mejor de lo mejor era lo mas realista que habia en esos años que tiempo me vino recuerdos de jovenes.
Con los primos
Los amigos
Los tios la familia tantos años pasaron
The reflex still remains that you have to point away from the screen to reload. I miss the arcade days.
When you have the automatic and shoot the crooks , the sounds are so refreshing
aaaaa nostalgia
How do you get the "Nice bullseye" message to appear when you kill someone in this game?
Gary Beltz shoot them in the hand.
When you disarm them instead of killing them. It's called "Justice shot" in Virtua Cop 2.
The first Sega Saturn game and the only one in the virtual series that runs at 32-bit quality
On rails vr shooter would make a pretty good idea
10:25 "I'll talk when one row about a ratchet!"
I remember playing this on a demo CD my sister randomly had and I always wished I could play the actual game. Still do lol
Virtua cop 1994 sega
Just curious, which platform are you playing?
Him Funks It's Sega Saturn. It even says it on the title.
Fox McCloud You’re right. Haha thanks.
Is there even a good emulator for the Sega Saturn? I know with the emulators for the Sega CD you had to have the right BIOS and other crap to make sure they worked right.
That music sounds like Konami 90's music.
When the Police are around, the Mafia doesn’t stand a chance
If anyone cares, this is what inspired the Port in Shenmue.
Classic game.
the 2nd stage is the most of the fun stage to be play
what Is a good rom for this on mame? I have tried a whole bunch of them but I keep getting missing image errors.
Try Sega Model 2
The daily adventures of Triceracop
Como joguei esse game...
Nostalgia pura.
Huh? I'm almost 33 and I learn today that the game is called Virtua Cop instead of Virtual Cop?
Childhood memories
Best 3D lightgun shooter just like a Time Crisis, which is basically Operation Wolf on 3D but city life with high crime alert
I have the disc for this game... a sega saturn (that needs the battery changed) and no light gun... :(
Then what are you waiting for? Get that battery changed, break out a CRT and find a light gun and enjoy one of the best light gun games ever made!
