    I just did my 58” Hisense-Roku last night. It went perfectly. I kept the parts in order of disassemble to work in reverse order. So BigDogg you are the man, all the info and tips were incredibly awesome and details. Everything you explained was all the detail needed to get this job done. My screen lit back up and is back online functioning perfectly. Total material cost was $23, I also bought the same LED tester for $30 and squeeze suction cups 4 3/8” dia from Home Depot. $18 so I have the tester and cups to help friends and family !! BigDogg you are a true mechanic technician , serious and able to joke as you go. BigDogg stay healthy and rock on !!!🎉

    About three days ago I used this video as a step by step to do this same repair on this exact 58" Sharp. NEVER worked on a TV before in my life. Got one from a family member for free a month ago...no backlight. I offered to fix it for them (after doing some research, diagnosing, and watching this video) but nah...they wanted a bigger, better TV. Worked out great for me thanks to this video. For less than 50 bucks (double sided tape, a pair of suction cups, and the backlight kit) I repaired and enjoy a 58" screen now. Thanks for the vid!! This repair isn't for everyone, but if you are mechanically inclined and follow this video it's a breeze thanks to this man's easy to follow instructions!

    Amazing video! You explained everything in so much detail. I was able to fix my TV when everyone else had lost hope. It was a huge task and that I was able to do with very few tools. It was a pain but ultimately so satisfying! Followed your video step by step. Couldn't have been possible without your video. Thank you so much!

    People frequently asks me why they don't last long anymore.
    Besides these tv's built so cheap, the main reason for the backlight dying so prematurely is that the leds are so overdriven to a stress point, particularly at the factory backlight settings. I have repaired lots of tv's with this issue and once I do I suggest to my customers to bring the backlight intensity down to about 70% or use the energy savings mode and the adaptive light sensor on if possible and the life of those leds will increase significantly. The key is to keep them from running at stress mode as much as possible and they will last.
    Thanks for demonstrating the diagnosis and the repair procedure so well. It is important for people to have a way to learn how to repair them themselves and not just throw them away when they can still b see repaired at a reasonable cost. I wish I had the ability to record and edit video tutorials like you do. Keep the great work 👍🏻.

    Yo, bigdog, now a new subscriber here. I just bought this 58" for $50 to try and troubleshoot and was going through the power rails/main etc wasting my time for hours when I did some googling and found these vids. I did try looking in the dark with a flashlight but I didn't look dead center. After watching this video, I did again and looked in the center and sure as hell I can see the Sharp Roku TV on the screen. Thanks man. Much appreciated!

    I had the exact same symptoms and decided to give the repair a shot. I’ve got experience a while back fixing iPhones from the 3G to the iPhone 7 and then got out of it. This is definitely not a repair for someone with zero experience, but with a little experience and common sense it’s a breeze. I bought from the website he suggested and got the parts quick and they worked great. I got the suction cups too which give a lot of peace of mind. The screen itself is delicate and you’re SOL if you break it.

    Big Dog another top notch repair. That TV seems built very cheap, cutting corners like using glue and tape instead of proper fasteners for strips and backing paper. It made the repair much more difficult and tedious. I could tell you were using a lot of self discipline not to get worked up. Lots of labor and skill required, moreso than better quality units. But the gratification of seeing that picture come on at the end makes it all worthwhile. You are a true craftsman in this age of nobody who knows how to fix things anymore. 👍👍👍

    • @TheWolfster001
      @TheWolfster001 3 роки тому +3

      Sometimes some tape is all that is needed.. TV's today have so few parts and most are easily replaced, that's why a lot are so cheap, they want you to buy new and not repair.. I remember when I was younger, TV's then were so heavy and then they were cheaper to have repaired then buy new...

  • @stratomonster213
    @stratomonster213 2 роки тому +3

    Good video Big Dog! I don't recommend doing this yourself though, I was cruising until I removed the frame around the screen. It's very difficult even using care to not damage the screen because of the fragility of the edge of the screen. This isn't my first rodeo with TV repair, and I didn't use anything sharp and wasn't forceful and somehow a crack occurred along the top edge. These TVs are just too cheaply made so beware of the frame removal and those driver board connectors (COFs) like Big Dog said! It takes some experience to get this right, so again don't be shocked if you screw it up, live and learn! 6 hours of my life I'll never get back lol. Also you cannot get a replacement screen/panel anymore from hisense/sharp 2022.
    Some tips:
    1. Get a helper! This is really a 2 person job, could make a big difference.
    2. FRAME REMOVAL IS CRITICAL! Do NOT use the screen for leverage or press on it while pulling the frame up to remove. NO TOUCHY THE SCREEN EDGE OR ANYHWERE WHEN REMOVING THE FRAME! TV is toast if you do this, again, can't even buy a replacement screen/panel anymore.
    3.VERY careful with the driver board connectors (chip on film connectors ,clear brown plastic & black tabs on side). Pay utmost attention to this when you're putting it back together as that is when you're most likely to damage them by smashing them down on accident with frame pieces.
    4. Pull the white paper that's on the LEDs off from top to bottom, not left to right.
    5. Get an LED tester!

      Don’t ever buying the Hisense tv brand because this is sub contractor for by the Best Buy corporation,they have very bad in % of controlled for inspection in product qualities.Especially their tv LEDs diode parts brands screen in backlighting they’re using in it.These backlight diodes parts only can last to about 3 years of using about 3-4 hours viewing at the most even tv are using in moderates screen brightness in many hours brightness screen lighting.Buy LG,Samsung,Sony LED tv brands have the best LEDs diodes parts strips for their best backlight screens.

    The tutorial was great. Make sure you get all the screws off the bottom bevel. I think there were actually 9. I missed the last corner one, which made things go left. Also make sure you get the right LED strips. I was sent vertical strips rather than the horizontal that came with the tv. They were actually the correct fir, but the wire
    Was different. Doesn’t matter in there end. That missed 9th screw killed it.

    Greetings to you and all, excellent repair very detailed 👍🏾,
    A friend purchased a 70” ONN ROKU, his daughter had the hair dryer on and tripped the circuit breaker in the house fuse panel, and now the 2 year young 70” ONN ROKU
    Model# 100012585 has the Black screen flash with 13 Led flashes, however I performed a reset by disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet and holding down the on/off toggle switch for30 seconds and then replugged into the outlet & the tv powered back on and worked as it should’ve,but not for long👎🏿, so it’s back to the black screen flash,
    just performed the flash light test and there are images, I’m about to open it up and test the backlights now.
    Thanks for all of your videos regarding the TCL family of Tv sets 👍🏾

    Wanted to thank you. I was able to replace my backlights because of your video and excellent instructions. They had the led strips I needed on amazon. I ran into one issue where I believe one of the suction cups I had placed on the screen made a white spot the size of a golf ball almost like a dead spot on the screen. It was white with a ring around it that looked like liquid metal when I ran my finger across it. The rest of the entire display was fine other than this spot. I unplugged the tv feeling defeated and some what accomplished because I was able to do most of the repair. I unplugged the tv for about half a day and came back to turn it on and to my surprise the spot was gone and the tv was perfect. Now it turns on says "sharp roku tv" than Screen goes black again. 7 seconds later it repeats continuously. I changed the power supply board and power cable. No change. After changing the led strips, did you put more 2 sided tape under the paper, or did you put it on without tape? Seems like it would be a nightmare to put that paper back on and line it up with 2 sided tape on there.

    Outstanding ! Every other video on the subject says to unplug the tv and plug it back it. I suspect this is the identical issue on my identical TV. My y question is that given this is a “ budget friendly tv”, is this repair cost cost prohibitive, or is the tv worth saving ?

    I got through this entire repair and I ended up with nothing but a jagged bright line on the right side. Is there anything I should check or do you think I cracked one of the driver chip ribbon on the bottom? Should I just cut my losses at the LED tool and $70 to ShopJimmy for the LED strips?

    • @bigdog8882
      @bigdog8882  3 роки тому +1

      Double check your ribbon connectors and Ldvs cable coming from Main to Tcon, and connectors going to Driver boards from Tcon. Only U would know if damaged one of the cof cables, they would be phycically crinkled on one side, etc.

    Came across your repair of the Hisense / Sharp roku tv with the led light replacement. Very thorough and detailed. I have one like that and have replaced the power board and main board due to the fact that it flashed once or twice and went blank. The power light is the only thing working. No pictures or sound. I went to test the led while connected with power on to the tv and my reading's are on drugs, they keep jumping, so I can't get a solid read, would it be my power board bad or LED's bad. I replaced the T-con & Main boards.. On visual examination of the power board all looks good.. What should I look for to determine if it is my power board, leds or both?? Any advise would be appreciated, I am doing this for a friend for free, he is on a fixed income and I am buying all parts needed.. Thank you.... Oh I love your channel your videos have been very helpful on other repairs I have done.. I like to help people, so that is why I never charge people I fix tv's for, they just buy the parts..
