Bablyonian talmud sukkah chapter 5 נ"ב ע"א (52 1) also refers to this passage to explain the Messiah son of joseph (the second one which they invented) to explain why he dies. Can't get better than this.
This Rabbi is claiming that the person being pierced is some very popular Israeli or Jewish soldier. That's just not a good interpretation of the verse. If you read Zacharia, chapter 12 - the whole text is being spoken by the Lord. It literally begins with "A prophecy: The word of the Lord concerning Israel.". In the same context it says "They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child...". It is clear that the person who was pierced was the Lord. It is interesting that he speaks of himself in the 3rd person when he says "mourn for him". Kind of makes you think...
You have to be familiar with the way the prophets speak. They chop and change between speaking of HaShem in the third person and speaking HaShem’s words in the first person. It happens all over the place. And you need to read it in the Hebrew, because the translations sometimes change words to fit christian beliefs.

That's why the one pierced is not Jesus, but someone to take Jesus place and the people will mourn him as if it was God. It's not God. Because Jesus was never crucified. Because Jesus is not God Because Jesus is the Messiah who was raised to the heavens before being killed.
@riseofpotatonation If he is the Messiah, that means he is God. According to Isaiah 9:6. To call him the Messiah but deny he's God is something Islam gets wildly wrong.

In the Tanach it's even clearer than in the NT (AKA Brit Ha Hadasha) in it Hashem is talking in the verse, how can anyone pierce Hashem? It makes perfect sense, I love it! @Rual sheer ignorance. A basic concept in Judaism is the entire torah was written by G-D and handed over directly to Moses, who then handed it to Joshua son of nun, who gave it to the elders - the greatest Jews alive, and they then gave it over to a specific group of rabbis, who wrote it down, and it got handed down generation to generation. I don’t know why anyone would celebrate if Yeshua 8:29 is not the Messiah. If Yeshua is not the Messiah, Jewish people will be condemned by the law for not following it. Furthermore, the temple has not existed since 70AD. That means all the sacrifices to cover sin are not being made including for those who have died since. Yeshua was our perfect spotless lamb the Tanakh was pointing to. As Isaiah 53 says “he was wounded for our transgression. He was bruised for our inequities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed”. This is not talking about Israel. Look at the whole chapter. Isaiah never talked about Israel this way “He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.” Isaiah would say the opposite of Israel.
None of it matters to me so go try and debate with someone else. There are a lot of scholarly opinions out here. Religion and politics are personal. It's ones opinion according to their individual belief system... And that can certainly change over time. Have a wonderful day.
THE RABBI WILL ALWAYS HAVE AN ANSWER REGARDLESS IF HE WRONG. THERE HAS BEEN GREATER RABBIS WHO HAVE PONDERED OVER THIS SCRIPTURE AND HAVE COME TO A DIFFERENT CONCLUSION
It was the Egyptians who killed Josiah though and it doesn't state anywhere that _they_ mourned for him in the bible? Also regarding Zechariah, Rabbi Singer conveniently doesn't quote the full verse in Zechariah12:10 at about the 9:10 mark. Zechariah12:10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit[a] of grace and supplication. They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for *him* as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. So how was John wrong to quote the verse as stating him, when it uses both me and him? What translation is Rabbi singer using that states; "And they shall look to me because of the one who was thrust through" What translation uses the, 'because,' because all of the other translations I have seen it is as if God is saying that it is he himself who is being pierced because it is translated as, *'They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced.'* That obviously has great connotations regarding to who the prophesy relates to and as to whether or not it is referring to God himself. As christians believe Christ is God it is very interesting that in Zechariah God is speaking as though it is he himself who has been pierced by using the word me(first person personal pronoun). 'They will look on[b] *me,* the one they have pierced. The prophecy then switches to using the third person personal pronoun, him. 'And they will mourn for *him* as one mourns for an only child.' This sounds like God is speaking about himself in two different people, i.e. the Trinity. Christ was crucifed by the Romans at the request of the Jews(Luke23:13-25), so Christ much more fully fulfills the prophecy in Zechariah12:10 than Josiah does.
John Smith, he's taking into account the "et", which is a mark of the accusative case. It's being rendered, "they will look to me about whom they've pierced" because the accusative mark is being seen as making the pierced one a distinct one by the "et". This works better with the context, and I prefer this rendering. What John is doing is called an interpolation, and people are reading it as a translation, and that's why they are arguing with Jews about this. They are doing this also because they think of it as a prooftext for Jesus being God, and not Jesus being the Messiah. They also don't listen as to why he was killed, but think he was killed because they thought he was God, but that's not the reason. In any case, what Tovia says about the reason in John as to why Jesus was pierced is contestable. It is true that he said it's how like 99% of us take it, though. However, I consider the textual variant of Matthew 27:49, which considers the reason for him to be pierced is because the soldiers heard him cry out to God, and misheard, and said, "let's see if Elijah saves him" and stab him in spite. This is why he cries aloud and breathes his last in this case: not from a "broken heart", not because he ejected the Holy Spirit, not from bleeding out from being whipped, not from cardiac arrest, and not from congestive heart failure; it was because of the piercing, and that is actually significant. Lastly, I don't agree with Tovia that the one being stabbed is stabbed in a war, but the context shows that Israel was trying to put away idols in the land, and were stabbing anyone who prophesies. When someone sees the wounds between his hands, they ask where they got them, and they say "in the house of my friends". (Remember that NT reference?) Also, this is the principle behind "strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered" in the context of Zechariah 12 and 13: that if you stop the false prophets, then people will stop going after other gods. They will be crying out to God because they are killing people, and are sorry because of the stabbing. However, the way the NT is seeing it is that Jesus was killed for being a false prophet, and this is to cause people to be sad, because he was killed innocently. This is why they repent in the book of Acts when Peter preaches, and that was supposed to be what was going on there. If in Revelation it says "every eye will see him, even those who pierced him", then the idea is that he will be displayed to be alive, even to those that killed him (the ones who stabbed him). This will prove that God approved of him, seeing that he was raised from the dead. That is a point specifically pointed out in the NT: that him being resurrected proves that he is loved by God i.e. is God's Son.
Straight up lie about it the battle was fought in Megiddo if you actually read 2 chronicles and about the mourning that is also false tbey did mourn 23 Archers(F) shot King Josiah, and he told his officers, “Take me away; I am badly wounded.” 24 So they took him out of his chariot, put him in his other chariot and brought him to Jerusalem, where he died. He was buried in the tombs of his ancestors, and all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for him.

Maybe the rabbi is speaking of messiah Ben Joseph. They’re expecting 4 messiahs or 4 craftsman. I didn’t put Elijah 1st but these are the 4 messianic figures which explains why most of the people calling themselves Jews today reject Jesus Christ as the messiah. Messiah Ben David Messiah Ben Joseph/warrior Elijah The righteous priest That’s the only thing that makes sense for his interpretation of the text. In his mind it can’t be Jesus because Jesus did not overthrow the other nations and usher in the kingdom they were/are waiting on.
Tevin La Barrie No disrespect but I think that depends on what brand of Judaism you prescribe to. I’m no expert but it’s my understanding that most in the rabbinical circles hold a different view than the messianic circles. Those who accept Jesus as messiah would agree that he finished his mission. The new covenant writers use multiple old covenant texts to assert that he did. So it’s as it has always been. People are divided on what we believe. My 2 cents on this is whatever you believe about Jesus is your business and in time all things will be revealed.

The book of John was describing the Roman’s who pierced Jesus, Zechariah describes the Jewish people in the latter day when they recognize him who was pierced, the one who they rejected. The account of Joseph and his brother’s in Egypt is a foreshadowing of the type of weeping the Jewish people will do when they realize who their savior is. They will recognize him by the scares on his hands and feed after he has miraculously intervened on their behalf against the nations. Also See Zechariah 13:6-7 is also a reference to our messiah.

Two substances came out of the Lord’s pierced side: blood and water. Blood is for redemption, to deal with sins for the purchasing of the church. Water is for imparting life, to deal with death for the producing of the church. The Lord’s death, on the negative side, takes away our sins, and on the positive side, imparts life into us. Hence, it has two aspects: the redemptive aspect and the life-imparting aspect. The redemptive aspect is for the life-imparting aspect. The record of the other three Gospels portrays only the redemptive aspect of the Lord’s death. John’s record portrays not only the redemptive aspect but also the life-imparting aspect. So the blood and water show us two important aspects of the Lord’s death: the redemptive aspect (blood) and the life-imparting aspect (water).
@@papatutti59 From where do you have that explanation? It is not written John's account. According to the other accounts, the body was never mutilated. Perhaps the story in John is more like a dream and not literal? Also the doubtful Thomas story is only John's. John was obvIously concerned that people believed that Jesus had never died at Roman hands. I always wondered if perhaps Judas Iscariot identified himself as Jesus, Judas was crucified in his place, and came out dead, while Jesus watched from the side, and came out alive? If you saw Jesus and Judas standing next to each other, you have no idea who was who.
if it is so obvious, then you have to explain that if the 'him" who was pierced is Jesus, then Jesus dies for the second time. If you continue reading, you will see that the "him" is killed in battle. So, if the case is that is in reference to Jesus, then, Jesus will be dead again.

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

At heart of the Rabbi's difficulty with relating this passage to Jesus is that he is operating from only one coming of the Messiah, unlike what Christians believe (Acts 1:11). So christians are perfectly comfortable with the passage as Jews mourning in future a Christ who was crucified in the past! The difficulty isnt what the passage is saying. It is the fact that the Rabbi will not countenance the Messiah coming twice as a possibility from his perspective. With the second coming of Christ as explicitly stated in the New Testament, it is very reasonable to relate the passage to the Messiah. Were the Jewish people ever to discover that contrary to what they had thought, the Mesdiah was crucified, how could they not but mourn He that they pierced?
I pray that the Holy Spirit will convict rabbi Tovia Singer for the knowledge and wisdom of the LORD Jesus Christ and salvation of his soul. In Jesus Christ name Amen.
Which Hebrew word does correspond to "because of the one"? I do not find any relevant Hebrew word in this verse, which corresponds to "because of the one". If any, please mark it.
Matthew 23:39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'" JESUS IS MY FATHER. So those in Jerusalem would have to say for example to me Blessed are you who come in the name of Jesus. Than we read the comforting words to them as follows: Isaiah 40 9You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem,c lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!” 10See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. 11He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. 12Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? 13Who can fathom the Spiritd of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor? If this words don’t make you cry than I don’t know you.
Isiah 63:16 But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, Lord, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.
“Concerning Whom” is not how “Et Asher” is used in the Old Testament. It usually refers “Which” or “Whom” - just cross reference the Hebrew. Singer just sang a wrong tune again. How can you people trust this man?
Hebrew is my mothertongue and it is written that the people will look on ME whom they pierced. Toviya makind everuthing just to make people believe that Jesus Yeshua is a lye. Very sad.very sad. Tobya probably thinks he serving God of Abraham..but he serves the religion
Zechariah 12 10 But I will fill the House of David and • the inhabitants of Jerusalem with a spirit of pity and compassion; and they shall lament to Me about those who are slain, wailing over them as over a favorite son and showing bitter grief as over a first-born.
Was jesus the first Jew to be killed “pierced” by the Romans and raise from the dead? Not only this, but we find that in Midrash Rabbeinu Bachya, Bereishis claims that both Yakov and Rebbi Yehudah ha'Nasi would appear to people after their deaths. They were capable of eating (thereby acting as a physical being) but could also appear and disappear at will (thereby acting like a ghost). Does this remind you of anyone who can appear in locked rooms, pass through walls, disappear on the road to Emmaus, and eat with his disciples? According to Epiphanius in his book, the Panarion (Ch. 28), he describes a certain "heretical" group of Jewish followers of Jesus who denied that he resurrected from the dead. Rather, they believed that Jesus would resurrect with everyone else during the general resurrection of the dead. Headed by a Jew named Cerinthus, he was pro-conversion to Judaism, belonged to the Circumcision Party (Acts 15) everything Paul hated and jesus loved.
i really “like” tovia singer as an apologist against christianity😊, he is smart (a smart deceiver) we have to admit that. 99% of the people that hear him don’t really fact-check what he says.
We all believe in christ. Chrust is just the greek word for messiah. We happen to know it isn't jesus. And messiah isn't G-d's only begotten son. Check it out. Israel is G-d's firstborn son exodus 4.22

It very clearly says that on that day there shall be a fountain opened which shall cleanse sin. And the passage before says the house of David will be like the angel of the lord. Just as those verses say, Jesus came to cleanse sin by his sacrifice and to give us his Spirit so that by faith we could be made righteous. Now, as for the paleo-hebrew you brought up, I do think it is to be literally translated as you said, but it does not contradict the prophecy... 1. We dont necessarily think like those who wrote in paleo-Hebrew. 2. The prophecy says looked on "Me." Since all the other prophecy in the passage is very clear, and fits in a perfect time in history, isn't it beautiful that John uses "him" to be equivalent to the "Me" in Zechariah. I think our modern western and literal thought may have an influence on why translators made a more relatable connection between the two passages. I get the vibe that some translators didnt preserve this though because it would be too hard to understand with our modern way of thinking. Let us also not forget that Isreal's biggest problem was sin. Dont you realize that Hezekiah's political problems were only solved when he turned to the Lord - not to Babylon. It would make no sense to say that the Messiah would bring redemption by being a war hero for a sinful nation. Dont you remember when Abraham was told by the angel to stop continuing in sacrificing his son. Do you think that took place for no reason at all? No none stopped God from giving his only Son and He didnt deserve it. He did it out of love so that there would be an arbiter, one of Job's greatest desires, that would be both God and man. Dont you see that beauty and parallelism with Abraham and Job. This ancient Hebrew thought is something we aren't experienced in with modern writing. As confusing as the translation may be, to say Zechariah is not talking about Jesus would be foolish.
@@boanerges149 the reason I mentioned 'war hero' is that the Messiah was believed and is still believed by many Jews to bring peace. I believe that Jesus Christ brought that peace. A common misconception of the Messiah by Jews is that in order to bring peace, the Messiah would be a war hero. But God had other plans in mind. Read the prayer in Daniel 9 and you will see that prophet pouring out out his heart in his confession that Isreal's greatest problem was sin. Daniel was truly blessed to get to see all the visions he got to see. Jesus did not come as a war hero, but made peace in a way man could not make it. Him being God himself healed many and told many to repent and was beaten and executed after living a sinless life. By making himself like a servant, he was exalted and rose from the dead. I dont think a lot people understand the true philosophical significance of our perfect creator, the cause of this universe laying down His life for His creation in order to send them a spirit for guidance and to help them be righteous. There is no other way to create eternal peace. What man or woman on this Earth has no sin and can carry out justice with a sword on people in order to make peace - no one can do so without being a hypocrite except for God. Yet, God's plan was never to make peace by the sword, but by Jesus's death and resurrection.

And when we read the 9 verses prior to verse 10 you see that isn't jesus. Isn't it great that we read the hebrew directly and not your christian translation and read it in context and not one cherry picked verse. That way we don't ever get fooled by christians

Muslims often quote this guy and to say that we Christians mistake Messiah for the Old Testament and once they do this to you realize that he is the messiah in the Quran as well so it disproves their own Quran as well if this were true
No serious Muslim can believe Jesus is not the Messiah and was not born of "virgin." Here Muslims are in agreement with Xtians but also in agreement with Jews disbelieving Jesus is God. Qut'an says that God will tell us about our differences. Therefore lets bury the Hatchet Sons of Abraham
YHWY or the HWY Muslims believe Jesus is the Messiah (Masih) But Jesus is NOT the one whom the Jews label the ‘Mosiach’ - these prophecies are about the Chosen One, the Servant, the Beloved of God, the ADON (Master) of the prophets. These are his true titles - mosiach is a general title which can be used for all prophets. All the prophecies about the awaited deliverer were about Muhammad ﷺ and fulfilled in Muhammad ﷺ So Muslims believe Jesus was the Messiah or a Messiah - but we don’t believe Jesus was the ADON and King and Deliverer whose coming would signal the end of Roman oppression in the holy land and the conquering of all the promised Abrahamic land of Genesis 15:18-21 and destroying of the pagan idolatrous forces there once and for all. Muhammad ﷺ is the ADON
And that one, Mr. Tovia is Jesus Christ.... Just like when the Jews mourned that they left God and were held captive, but turned to God and he restored them, so shall it be at the end. Israel will see the One, whom they have pierced, The Messiah and will mourn for him, because they will realise that they rejected the Messiah.
Kiril Hristov It's referring to the paganized apostate church that has fallen for a strong delusion of the Babylonian trinity and false image of the true messiah, the antichrist that came exactly 1335 years ago thru the mother wore church per Daniel 12.
Rabbi you are absolutely right about pointing the verse toward the end time reading the whole chapter in the context. But there is a different interpretation that alligns with the interpretation of Islamic scatology. "Weakests in Jerusalem are Muslims, not who call themselves Jews right now" "Muslims will become fierce and fightback against the followers of False Messiah, 'Dajjal' once he will be stabbed by the True Messiah," "This death of False Messiah 'Dajjal' will create mourning among his followers and some of the Jews and Christians will repentant for their taking of wrong side" See Islamic scatology also...for getting a full picture of end time prediction.
The problem with that theory is that Jews believe when the Messiah comes world peace will come instantly and everyone will bow to God so i don't think they'll follow anyone that claims to be Messiah

@@danchin5187 Sorry to burst your bubble, but as a secular Hebrew-speaking Jew I have to break it to you that the word et (את) means literally nothing besides being an accusative case marker (and, occasionally, the word "and" in company names in modern usage, as in "Goldberg et Harari LTD”). All this forced symbolism of yours doesn't cut it, mate. Besides, if you believe Jesus "wouldn't be speaking Greek", doesn't the composition of the whole original NT in Greek kind of defeat the purpose of "not speaking" it? By the way, the Greek equivalent of Tav is Tau and not Omega. And it's not coincidental that the names of T are identical because Greeks took the consonants and their names almost verbatim from the Phoenician alphabet (which is the source of all Semitic alphabets of the Levant, including Hebrew). Vowels like Omega, on the other hand, are native Greek in origin. In conclusion, the mere fact that NT is a Greek book indicates clearly that those who wrote it were Levantine Greek settlers (of which there were plenty during the period in cities like Caesarea and Scythopolis), or at best heavily Hellenized Jews who didn't use Aramaic (the Semitic lingua franca of the region) daily, much less Hebrew which at that point was already ceasing to be a spoken tongue. Also, like any good Christian throughout the ages, you seem to think that you have some sort of right to tell the Jews whom to consider "their" king or Messiah or whatever. It's really sad that you don't grasp the sheer insolence of this proposition, but again, be reminded that it's Jews who decide about their royalty and their own religious affairs, not you or anybody else.

Tovia, i REALLY respect you and your passion for the word of Heshem, but at 6:49 you miss quoted 2 Kings 18:5-6. It does NOT say there will never be a King before or after Hezekiah as GREAT as Hezekiah, what the scriptures ACTUALLY say is: "There was no one like him among all the Kings of Judah" (Judah is only one of the two kingdoms, so Hezekiah isn't even being compared to Kings of Israel). There is also no one "LIKE" you Tovia Singer before or after you. There is only ONE Tovia Singer. There is no one LIKE me. There will only be ONE of me for all time. That's why 2 Kings 23:25 says "Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king "LIKE" him who turned to the LORD as he did. BOTH Hezekiah AND Josiah can NOT be the GREATEST Jewish King. God's WORD can NOT contradict itself, rather, your misinterpretation of 2 Kings 18:5-6 contradicts 2 Kings 23:25. Please pray and ask Heshem to reveal the TRUTH of His Word on this very important error you are propagating. Shalom!!!!

Rabbi never said who was this "individual" who was stabbed or pierced ( wounded). That's that mean the messiah would be wounded when he comes to Jerusalem in the end times?? Or is it because this already happened in the destruction of Jerusalem in 69-70AD? Zechariah 12:2 mentioned that there will be a siege in Jerusalem. That really resonates the siege of Jerusalem in 69AD my friends, is it a coincidence that Judah ( the house of David) was the the "subject" who resided in Jerusalem back then??? This is a contemporary event when the Hebrew Messiah arrived when Jerusalem was under control of the Roman Empire. coincidence??? lol The house of Israel ( Northern Kingdom ) is not mentioned on this chapter of Zechariah. That means only the house of Judah is set apart or redeemed?? see verse (5) lol please that makes no sense whatsoever. Use some critical thinking with theological connection please aligned with contextual evidence. ALL ISRAEL SHALL BE PRESENT WHEN THE HEBREW MESSIAH COMES TO JERUSALEM NOT JUST JUDAH. Is it a coincidence that Judah was only present when Jerusalem was destroyed with war and siege at 70AD?? Historically speaking the Roman Empire was considered a "conglomerate of nations" see verse (4) , why? because the Roman Empire was established having jurisdiction (s) in many nations and became as one nation superpower. Similarly like UN with UNesco and NATO. ( 28 nations working together as ONE) For example Armenia and Turkey was considered part of the Roman Empire. Whoever was born in those land was a Roman citizen. (Shaul/Paul was born in Turkey as a Jew by birth but he had Roman Citizenship) ON VERSE (7) MENTIONED THAT tents of Judah is saved ( redeemed) "first" as if there is another round of redemption??? wow the lost sheep of Israel not present ?? YUPPERS!! that's why the Messiah came in 30AD to gather the lost of Israel as mentioned by the prophet Isaiah 49 as to be saved but after Judah. VERSE (10) FINALLY AS ALSO PROPHESIED BY THE PROPHET JOEL 2:27-32 THE HOUSE OF JUDAH RECEIVED THE GIFT OF THE RUACH HAKODESH to fulfill Jeremiah 31:31-33 including every israelite who lived in gentile land who came to celebrate the feast of Pentecost ( harvest) as usual every year. Is this coincidence in 30AD- 70AD??? SEE Acts 2:1, 5, ; 17-21; 31-33 ; 36-39 also see Psalms 89:3,4 and Acts 2: 30 PART I - HASHEM ELOHIM DEALTH WITH JUDAH IN 30AD-70AD to fulfill prophetic Messianic redemption when Judah will be saved "first" SEE ZECHARIAH 12:7 PART II OF THE PROPHECY OF ZECHARIAH. AFTER ALL Israel is gathered as ONE. See Ezekiel 37:16-22 This Event partially in 30AD - 70AD happened BUT until the remnant of Israel ( ALL DESCENDANTS OF JACOB LITERALLY ) is gathered as ONE in the end times, the Messiah will show up to restore all things for Israel. See Acts 1:4, 6
Actually, this is a misrepresentation and a gross one. It was Jesus’ brethren who had him crucified. Were they the ones who actually crucified him? No. Moreover, I don’t know any Christians who see John’s passage or Zachariah’s principally outside of the light that when Jesus return, as King, his brethren who yelled “crucify him” will look upon Him who they pierced and grieve for that mistake. In context, to most Christians its prophetic. You speak of who the Bible often speaks then you should know that splitting hairs about word choice falls outside of interpreting prophecy. It’s never direct as such or meant for stiff necked to perceive.

You were the lamb that was slain sent to die in his place and you rose again and now you are seated at God’s right hand. That he can pray and ask to be born again so the second death will not hurt him. Amen.
Soooo it’ll be like a king being killed. Isaiah 53 and Zechariah 12 are way to close in a couple of lines… I think you’re lying. Also, Isaiah 9:6 states the Messiah will come as a baby, not a grown man. Micah 5:2 says the baby will be born in Bethlehem. You are lying. Repent, and recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah foretold.
What does the rabbi try to explain? Did the people pierce God the father? Why do we try to deny the undeniable? The jews will mourn that day including yourself rabbi if you do not repent. Isaiah 53, zecheriah 12, psalm 22 etc. are undeniable proofs that Jesus is the messiah. Many jews recognized Jesus as the messiah in the first century AD. The rabbi is trying to deny the undeniable. May Lord help him understand. I do not think we know more than John the Baptist or Paul. So let us embrace our messiah jews and gentiles. Stop the philosophy....
The way I see Zechariah 12. The Second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ The spirit of grace and of supplications shall be poured upon the House of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem. In the End of Days the Messiah comes, and Judah shall look upon me whom they have pierced. This is when Judah realizes that the messiah had come before and was crucified, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for someone that is in bitterness for the death of a firstborn and only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, In that day there will be a great mourning in Jerusalem, and they might say Lord we didn't understand who you were.

RASHI - vs 10 And they shall look to Me: to complain about those of them whom the nations thrust through and slew during their exile. והביטו: להתאונן על אשר דקרו בהם האומות והרגו בהם בגלות' vs 11 - and they shall mourn over it: Over that slaughter. Hadadrimmon has no connection to the Valley of Megiddon. These are, rather, two cases of mourning. [The first is] like the mourning of Ahab the son of Omri, who was slain by Hadadrimmon the son of Tabrimmon in Ramoth Gilead, as it is stated (I Kings 22:36): “A cry passed through the camp.” That is the mourning [of Ahab. The second case is] like the mourning of Josiah the son of Amon, who was slain by Pharoah the lame in the Valley of Megiddon, as it is stated (II Chron. 35:25): “And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah, and all the singing men and singing women spoke in their laments, etc.” vs 12 And the land shall mourn, EVERY FAMILY apart . . .
Most of the Rabbi were always mislead that verse. This guy is even went further to allege mistranslated. The text is ” (וְהִבִּ֥יטוּ אֵלַ֖י אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־דָּקָ֑רוּ). Many Rabbi explained, Yahweh is feeling hurt because of Israel whom the one Yahweh loves got hurt. In reality, Christian did translate it correctly in according to the whole context from chapter 12 to 14. It is the first coming of Jesus when he was crucified and the second coming to save House of Judah. Remember, Zechariah got murder by Jews. Chapter 12:2 was nations surrounding current Israel. Tovia Singer going even against the talmud sukkah 52a..... He's even going against Jewish sages who said Zechariah 21:10 referred to the Messiah... This teacher is wrong.
That's talking about Jesus. The gospel of John clearly says Jesus on the cross was fulfilling that scripture. You don't have athority to say John didn't mean that or got it wrong. Who are you to do you Bro. You preaching the wrong gospel.
Man the parable the Holy one of Isreal teaches the childr3n of Isreal and they can't even see it. In the mourning of medgiddo🤯 Tovia man that boy can spin some dough all he is missing is the leaven.
The Christian reading of this passage is somewhat problematic. The words "Me" and "Him" makes it quite obvious that the text is speaking of two different subjects. The gospel of John acknowledged this and therefore rendered the passage as, "they shall look on Him whom they pierced." This New Testament mistranslation of Zechariah in and of itself demonstrates that the New Testament is fallacious. To interpret this passage that at some future time the "Jewish people shall look unto Me (G-d/Jesus) whom they (the Jewish people) pierced" does not seem to be what John had in mind. It is important to note that according to John, Zechariah's prophesy was fulfilled at the time that the Roman soldiers pierced the side of Jesus. As it says in John 19:36, "For these things came to pass that the scripture might be fulfilled." John saw the two different subjects of Zechariah's passage as the Roman soldiers and Jesus. "They (the Roman soldiers) shall look on Him (Jesus) whom they (the Roman soldiers) pierced. There is an additional problem in this passage. The Hebrew words "et asher" are not found very often in scripture. When they do occur together the phrase is read as "concerning whom" or "concerning that" but never as "whom". You can see this by reading the Hebrew original of Ezekiel 36:27. (It is also interesting to note that the Septuagint does not translate "et asher" as "whom." Its translation does not at all resemble the Christian interpretation.) The correct translation of Zechariah 12:10 should be."they will look onto Me concerning whom they have pierced and they will mourn for him" This is consistent with the two subjects. By reviewing the context we can also understand of whom this passage is speaking. Starting with the beginning of Zechariah chapter 12 the prophet speaks of a time when the nations of the world will be gathered against Jerusalem to destroy it (Zec 12:3). On that day, G-d Himself will defend Jerusalem and destroy all of its enemies (Zec 12:4-9). G-d will pour out a spirit of grace and supplication toward the Jews. Grace is requested from G-d and supplication are directed to G-d. This new spirit will motivate the Jewish nation to look towards G-d concerning those Jews (collective Jewish Martyrs) (see Hosea 11:1 for the Jewish people described as him. See Ex.1 etc. verbs of oppression in singular. Cf. Deut 32, Hos 8:3 and Ex. 19:2) who have been killed in battle prior to G-d's divine intervention in fighting our adversaries. All the inhabitants of Jerusalem will mourn. This has obviously not yet been fulfilled, now or when the Roman soldier looked at Jesus. This understanding is validated by the scriptural description that this mourning in Jerusalem would be "like the mourning of Hadadrimmom in the Valley of Magiddo." This refers to the death of King Josiah who was killed in battle with Pharaoh Neco (2 Kings 23:29-30). After his death all of Judah and Jerusalem mourned for him (2 Chron 35:22-25). In the same way that the Jews mourned over King Josiah who died in battle so too will the Jewish people in the future mourn over their war dead.

It is also puzzling that you cite a passage of scripture apparently asserting that God stated that no king before or after Hezekiah, would be as great as him. How could any other king have been greater than David, of whom God said nothing less than that he was 'a man after his own heart' ! And that like the sun his throne would endure forever. And as if that were not enough, he asssigned David's name as the patronymic for the future Messiah. As for Abraham and the people in the Old Testament being kept in the dark by God about his nature as a triune God, it perfectly natural and consistent with our belief that God has been teaching us gradually. For goodness' sake, one of the great patriarchs impregnated his neice, who had disguised herself as a roadside prostitute. Everything takes time., including growth in holiness (Grace builds upon nature - St Augustine), not only in us as individuals, but as his people, Christians and Jews, both pre- and post-resurrection, Christ-bearing people.

But not only will it not be on the Christians' terms - he can't stomach them any more than any other Jew.

i pray you one day see," if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love."

Because Jesus was never crucified.
Because Jesus is not God
Because Jesus is the Messiah who was raised to the heavens before being killed.

@Rual sheer ignorance.
The word pierced is defined in the NT. It simply means to be pierced thru with many sorrows. Not literally pierced.

What translation is Rabbi singer using that states;
"And they shall look to me because of the one who was thrust through"
What translation uses the, 'because,' because all of the other translations I have seen it is as if God is saying that it is he himself who is being pierced because it is translated as, *'They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced.'*
That obviously has great connotations regarding to who the prophesy relates to and as to whether or not it is referring to God himself. 'And they will mourn for *him* as one mourns for an only child.'
This sounds like God is speaking about himself in two different people, i.e. the Trinity.
I would trust the RABBI any day over a JEDI.
He wasn't using a translation. He read the hebrew himself and translated it.

And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’ Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And he said: “Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without people, and the land is a desolate waste, And though a tenth remain in it, it will be burned again, like a terebinth or an oak, whose stump remains when it is felled.” The holy seed is its stump.
Isaiah 6:9-11, 13 ESV
so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said, “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.”
John 12:38-40 ESV
If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.

He dug it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; and he looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes.”
Isaiah 5:1-2
He is the farmer who planted, the one that made a people for himself to declare his name to the nations!
”There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a winepress in it and built a tower and leased it to tenants, and went into another country. When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to get his fruit. And the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. Again he sent other servants, more than the first. And they did the same to them. Finally he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’ And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. When therefore the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”

The simple fact that hundreds of verses have been added TO the bible from the oldest copies that we have is more than enough prove that we dont have a preserved bible.
Let alone the 15,000+ changes between the oldest copies and new translations that change the meaning of various versions.
But the simple fact that verses have been added is all the proof one needs that the bible is corrupted. Hundreds of them. Its not one or two. If verses have been added and mistranslated, what verses have been removed? Which verses are true and which verses are lies?
Thats why we have Paul teaching one set of beliefs completely different than what Jesus teaches. Thats why Jesus never says worship me, worship only the father and repeatedly acknowledges the greatness of the father. Jesus even cals the father HIS God. Can God have a God? Clearly not.

How does blood pour from a dead body? There is no blood pressure, because there is no heart beat. Does meat bleed when it is cut?

From where do you have that explanation? It is not written John's account. According to the other accounts, the body was never mutilated. Perhaps the story in John is more like a dream and not literal? Also the doubtful Thomas story is only John's. John was obvIously concerned that people believed that Jesus had never died at Roman hands.
I always wondered if perhaps Judas Iscariot identified himself as Jesus, Judas was crucified in his place, and came out dead, while Jesus watched from the side, and came out alive? If you saw Jesus and Judas standing next to each other, you have no idea who was who.
This is so obviously Jesus. The Messiah. Our Lord ans Saviour.
if it is so obvious, then you have to explain that if the 'him" who was pierced is Jesus, then Jesus dies for the second time. If you continue reading, you will see that the "him" is killed in battle. So, if the case is that is in reference to Jesus, then, Jesus will be dead again.

As confusing as the translation may be, to say Zechariah is not talking about Jesus would be foolish.
being a war hero ?
what is your point ?

Muslims believe Jesus is the Messiah (Masih)
But Jesus is NOT the one whom the Jews label the ‘Mosiach’ - these prophecies are about the Chosen One, the Servant, the Beloved of God, the ADON (Master) of the prophets.
These are his true titles - mosiach is a general title which can be used for all prophets.
All the prophecies about the awaited deliverer were about Muhammad ﷺ and fulfilled in Muhammad ﷺ
So Muslims believe Jesus was the Messiah or a Messiah - but we don’t believe Jesus was the ADON and King and Deliverer whose coming would signal the end of Roman oppression in the holy land and the conquering of all the promised Abrahamic land of Genesis 15:18-21 and destroying of the pagan idolatrous forces there once and for all.
Of course the Jews rejected Yushka's claims. Deuteronomy 13.
Rabbi you are absolutely right about pointing the verse toward the end time reading the whole chapter in the context. But there is a different interpretation that alligns with the interpretation of Islamic scatology.
"Weakests in Jerusalem are Muslims, not who call themselves Jews right now"

44 Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. 45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. 46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

@@justsomeofmyfavs 'et' is revealed in the new. Aleph Tav is God's signiture. Jesus said i am the Alpha and Omega. But he wouldn't be speaking Greek. Aleph Tav came. The same in the first chapter of Genesis, and the same in the book of Reverlation. See your King riding on a donkey, ...he comes next, riding on the clouds.

Shalom!!!!

On the cross.
GOD cant be pierced because HE isn't a Human
(Shaul/Paul was born in Turkey as a Jew by birth but he had Roman Citizenship)
ON VERSE (7) MENTIONED THAT tents of Judah is saved ( redeemed) "first" as if there is another round of redemption??? wow the lost sheep of Israel not present ?? YUPPERS!! that's why the Messiah came in 30AD to gather the lost of Israel as mentioned by the prophet Isaiah 49 as to be saved but after Judah.
SEE Acts 2:1, 5, ; 17-21; 31-33 ; 36-39 also see Psalms 89:3,4 and Acts 2: 30
PART I - HASHEM ELOHIM DEALTH WITH JUDAH IN 30AD-70AD to fulfill prophetic Messianic redemption when Judah will be saved "first" SEE ZECHARIAH 12:7
PART II OF THE PROPHECY OF ZECHARIAH.
It’s never direct as such or meant for stiff necked to perceive.
ohhh goodness gracious. You do not realize how real this is. You imagine that your itty bitty life span is all that is when not even all of the nations are as a drop in a bucket to the Lord.

Tovia man that boy can spin some dough all he is missing is the leaven.
lol this is the Anti-Christ perspective.
(It is also interesting to note that the Septuagint does not translate "et asher" as "whom." Its translation does not at all resemble the Christian interpretation.)
The correct translation of Zechariah 12:10 should be."they will look onto Me concerning whom they have pierced and they will mourn for him"
This is consistent with the two subjects.
It would appear that you are grossly wrong...Israel has already come to faith in Zec 12...that is why the Redeemer is come and is defending Israel...
yes he doesn't understand gog magog and zechariah 12-14 are 2 separate events but Yeshua will not return at this point. The Glory of God is present. zechariah 14:7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the Lord, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. Isaiah 60:1-2 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
I agree!
I don't think you understand that Yhvh won't come until Israel comes to faith...that is the point...Israel will be in faith of Yhvh when this happens...
I'm thinking I don't really care what you think...I can read the speeches of Yhvh for myself...I also know that Israel will be driven from the land at least 3 more times before all of this happens..my point is that Tovia is wrong and purports to be a Rabbi...
special c: lol typical, you
cant debate it, so you have a go at someone, that is common on this video, you have a belief that is wrong and you cant accept it.
Starnes Holdings: That's not true...it's just a waste of my time...
special c: You will dig yourself in a hole and it will just get deeper. One thing i have noticed is the people that believe Yeshua is not the Son of God are very rude, telling you anything?
Starnes Holdings: I've noticed that about you.
special c: At least you got one thing right Tovia is wrong about a lot of things.
Starnes Holdings: That's all you had to say...except your pride wouldn't allow that...you felt you had to mock folks and belittle them...that's not a trait of a saint..in fact, it's the opposite of a saint...go figure...
They will mourn for the prophets their ancestors murdered .
The word of G-d becomes Truth .
V Thant Judah wasnt a patriarch
Why didnt he tell Moshe
Spin it Singer. LOL

Rabbi Singer, we owe the Christians nothing - no explanations, nothing. We've tried and tried and tried again.
As their own book says: Let the dead bury the dead.
Their time is coming to a close, thank God. Their world is becoming hell.
Believe me when I tell you that Yeshu wants much more to be a Jew among other Jews, amongst his Family, infinitely more than he wants to be their god.
There will be a reconciliation. But not only will it not be on the Christians' terms - he can't stomach them any more than any other Jew.
On what authority do you claim that you may give up on people because you " don't owe anything". Shameful hate that only the unsaved could conjour up
