    I like to put the cases in the oven and heat them evenly then drop in bearings and dowels . (Just have to wait while the lady is out ) I also like to remove any bits of gasket before rebuild. Does yours have a bronze bush for gear shaft, they used to wear badly. Tim.

    • @2strokemxclassics
      @2strokemxclassics  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah I've seen done that way before m8 just I don't have a lass so I've no cooker lol just a small halogen oven, not to sure about the bronze Bush m8 I've never noticed it tbh unless it's the bronze coated oil seal

  • @callumthomas653

    file the groove flush and put it on a different shaft surface use money for seals and bearings

    • @2strokemxclassics
      @2strokemxclassics  4 роки тому

      Hi there the shafts no good tbh, I put a full new one on and a new cog I don't want to risk anything happenen again cos I don't know what caused this and the shaft has damage too, filing it could cause wrong sizes and I've loads of gearbox so it didn't cost nothing. Its my friend's bike so I'm keeping costs down👌

    Hi mate. I've just rebuilt my bottom end with rebuilt crank aswel by jim. The crankshaft seems very stiff to move by hand when all the cogs are on. Is this normal?

    • @2strokemxclassics
      @2strokemxclassics  Рік тому +1

      Not to sure tbh m8 Jim's done all mine and they've all been OK, normally all the same tightness one thing to checks the gaps down each side of the crank to the case are the same, if yav tighten one end of the crank cogs, primary drive etc first before doing the other side it will be stiff m8

      @@2strokemxclassics another tip m8 use VICTOR REINZOSIL between the cases because hylormar goes like a jelly soon as it's in contact with petrol m8 iam not saying hylormar isn't good because ive used it before myself for other stuff but believe me m8 that is the stuff to use victor REINZOSIL its also chemical resistant & can stand high temps 300oC + if you like dt125r then send a request on Facebook to plantamedic frankies French imports iam on their myself under my real name

      OK I'll give it a look I've use hylomar for 20 plus years m8 and never had no problems with it, no oil leaks or anything, I rapped Facebook in years ago I've seen that man from Yorkshire with the plantemedic site on here and on his ebay adds for his dt, s he's had some decent dtr, s over the years what model do you have pal👍

      Hi there m8 yeah it's good stuff I've never had no problems with it,never had oil leaks from it or it coming off over time etc, i rebuilt me friends dtr in 2016 and it's still working mint I've always used it for years an years so I've never tried anything else tbh

      2stroke mx classics Thank you mate, with this stuff can you just put it on then put the cases together and torque them straight away? I’ve seen some where you put it on and only pinch the cases then torque after couple hours is this not the case with this stuff?

    • @2strokemxclassics
      @2strokemxclassics  4 роки тому

      Yeah m8 I'd defo recommend it, yeah I put it on then wait 5 or ten mins just so some vapour off it evaporates then you can nip them straight up together👌

    • @2strokemxclassics
      @2strokemxclassics  2 роки тому +1

      Just depends m8, if you buy all 9 bearings it's 80 kwid is then there's a roller bearing from yamaha for 15 needed, gasket kit cheap 30 or yamaha ones 135 ish, seal kit 25 conrod kit 45 ish then 40 to have it pressed into crank then yav top end to look into m8 piston and cylinder on a good bore looking at 200 for top end m8

    Hey mate! great video. Currently using this as a reference otherwise my engine (in bits) would never go back together. Quick q, before I started the re-assembly I put the cases in hot water with some mild degreasers (v.diluted mucoff and some liquid marseille soap). When I took the cases out of the hot water, i found the internal walls ,where there is a bronze finish, had turned a dark colour and the bronze finish partly peeled off and now is very weak. I was thinking of just cleaning it up with a dremel but I'm not sure whether the cases are scrap now and i should get some new ones.....what do you think?

    • @2strokemxclassics

      @@2strokemxclassics the case internally just below the barrel. Mine has some sort of bronze finish. Now that has gone and in its place is a dark aluminium that has a chalky dark finish to its texture. When you run your finger on it, you get a dirty dark dusty finger. It's like if the aluminium reacted with the soap/degreaser

      now i just need to get the screws and a crankshaft because mine is loose.
      my bike was doing a noise when in neutral, when i use my clutch, the noise and the vibration stops. In the begining i thought it was the cluth basket but probably is the crankshaft.

      @@dudehunter1339him sounds like clutch basket, the 4 screws on the bench are 50mil,the shortest goes at the bottom Reed case hole which is 40mill I think I put the in first, the very front one wat holds radiator tube on is 65mm, there's 2 60mm,s one goes under clutch arm and the other 60mm goes at the back of the eng the vid will probs show the different size bolts going into the right hole, hope this helps m8
