Thanks, I finally found a good one, which is yours. I had a small one with 2 bottle caps but the string always got stuck, if I can minimize this, I can possibly make a better one that I will use for my retractor.

I made my own pulley with a styrofoam cups and a string and tape. Just poke a bit enough hole where the string or whatever can go through..and use tape so the string won't exactly scrape the styrofoam when you pull it.

Actually, based on physics, this makes it harder to pull the bottle up, since the string has mass and the pulley has friction.

The type of pulley she made is a one to one ratio. There are different types of pulleys that affect the work ratio differently. This one is used simply to do lifting based on space available, not weight/work reduction. It allows, like an elevator, to take something straight up or down. That is the only benefit this type offers.

I love the use of household items to make this happen. I will be using paper clips and cut plastic straws instead of the kabob stick, and the cut straws to reduce friction. Of course in California straws are now considered contraband, so caution is urged for those in that state, but of course lighting up a doobie there is of course legal.
