I just bought aBlack 2023 Mirage SE for my wife. She insisted on a small car to drive around our little town. 10year/100,000 mile warranty with 5year/60,000mile bumber to bumper roadside assistence.Under $19,000 plates and fees put me at $20,424 otd.Hell,I will be 83 when the 10 year drivetrain warranty expires.I will change the oil/filter and CVT oil/filter often. Pick it up April 26th 2023
roughly 300k miles in only 6 years! Thats over 50k miles a year! absolutely insane for any car let alone such a cheap "disposable" car such as the mirage. This is why i LOVE the mirage!
I had the same issue in my Mirage a few years ago. Had to drive only a few meters to load up the car with stuff. And it would not start again. Flooded. Just like yours.
Make sure the battery is good. The factory one is pretty weak from new, most aftermarket replacements have almost twice the cca. Starting and stopping the engine shortly after when it’s cold out seems to cUse these things to sometimes flood. If you gotta run it for an only short time reving it up a little before shutting it off can sometimes help prevent it.
Why can't you unplug the fuel pump, crank it till the gas runs out, put the fuse back in, then start it? Why do you need to put the fuse in when it's running?
This happened to mine after filling up with bad gasoline. It also helps to pull the starter for a quarter of a second 10-15 times. After that I drove off as if nothing had happened
It must have been flooded. Pulling the fuel pump relay stops more fuel from pouring into the cylinders. Flooring the throttle is supposed to do the same thing but doesn’t always seem work out. These things sometimes flood if you start cold then shut off shortly after, then the next time you go to restart it it’s flooded. Same thing can happen if trying to start and you let go of the key before it’s running.
Trying to figure out what removing and reinstalling the fuel pump fuse is doing for you... I guess you are trying to clear the cylinders of fuel? You suspect flooding?
Yeah I’ve had some that were/are noisy and never did blow up. I posted a crappy video of the one 2014 I had that sounded the same for about a year. And another of a different 2014 that spun a rod bearing that required replacement.
Over fueling and soaked the spark plugs in gas. Maybe wikipedia can explain it better: "A flooded engine is an internal combustion engine that has been fed an excessively rich air-fuel mixture that cannot be ignited.[1] This is caused by the mixture exceeding the upper explosive limit for the particular fuel. An engine in this condition will not start until the excessively rich mixture has been cleared.[2] It is also possible for an engine to stall from a running state due to this condition." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flooded_engine
It’s possible but I’d load test the battery. When they get weak these can flood more often. Does yours flood after a long drive or just short start/stops?
@@turdpailsandtrailsI couldn’t get it to run even after I put a new battery in it and changing a lot of fuses. After finding your video I can get it to run but the injector on the side near the fuse block is filling up and spilling over. I wonder if I have a clogged injector or my rubber bring has failed.
This is a fleet of Mirages 2015s thru 2017s, all CVT, all beat to hell driving in some of the harshest conditions (Canadian winters) and still going strong. Perfect example of a basic but reliable shitbox/workhorse. Rock on Fummy! Still waiting on that Doug DeMoron diss video though. 😄
Flooded. Start and stopping these things when cold can make them flood pretty easily. It happens more often in the cold. I've never had it happen to my own Mirages but the fleet(delivery) cars used to flood all the time. Drivers would start them cold in the am, then drive across the parking lot to a loading area and shut them off til they were loaded. often they'd be flooded.
If it runs, drive it. Let it run for a while before shutting it off again. These car flood sometimes when started and shut off soon after. The newer ones don’t do this as easily but still can happen.

They are great cars. Have a 2015 with just over 80 thousand miles and I plan on many more miles and years of driving.
Congratulations! I love my 2014 with a 5 speed.

It has worked to me. You're a legend 😮. Thank you!
Just had this issue yesterday in the cold after not running it for a couple days. I ended up going half-throttle and that seemed to get it running :)
You sir are a bloody life saver!!! Worked a treat
Glad it helped you!

Couldn't you hold the gas pedal down while cranking instead?
It has worked for me, thank you.

Man, I would like to buy you a beer. Just started my wife's car this way. Any idea for a permanent fix?

This trick works on my uncle's mirage LOL thanks

@@turdpailsandtrails thank you, I work on cars and I was baffled.. spark, fuel, compression.. I was confused af. Thanks homie! Ur the shit!
@ivlark1 Thanks! 💩

Yeah, holding the throttle down all the way doesn't always work in these cars
Do you find that some of these have a knocky noise but keep on running strong?

Если вы говорите про цокот муфты,то все нормально...смените масло на более густое и цокот будет меньше или исчезнет
What is "flooded"?

If I have to keep doing this does that mean my fuel pump is bad?

Does it really have almost half a million miles on it?
Yes, Canadian miles(km).

I mean it’s a Mitsubishi, you get what you pay for.
I used to think that way too.
This little car is a tank and okay for at home maintenance
