I had the pleasure of being escorted by SEG. I was one of dozens of RAF personnel in a fleet of buses escorted into London for a Battle of Britain Parade. I don't know where we picked up the escort but we didn't have an escort as we pulled out of RAF Northolt onto the A40 (Back in the day when there was an entrance to the terminal building there.).

@@luc1ferblack It's important for them to be assertive. Who cares if it sounds rude? They are trying to convey information as quickly and loudly as possible to make it clear for pedestrians what is going to happen.

One thing i never get is when they yell at people to move like if you blowing whistles people aren’t going to get it especially if they aint from London like people listen out for sirens. Also yelling to get out the way. How was he to know you were going over a pavement and not following the road. Also I wonder what they goin to do if an ambulance on lights an sirens comes they goin to make it wait cos a bet they would be an uproar if someone in the back was dying an had to stop so some foreign person can catch their flight or boris was late for his meeting like a get with royals its a security which can then cause a safety issue
This might sound a silly question, but are they actually blowing whistles in their mouths or is it a digital whistle sound activated by pressing a button, the reason I ask is how can you keep a whistle in your mouth all the time & blow it when you have 2 hands on the handlebars !!! 😉
Yes, its a slight hassell for everybody, but, its also a little bit of excitement to add to an otherwise humdrum day. ALSO, securitywise, if one of the royals were ever to be ambushed and kidnapped, it would be a major, major deal...its just not worth it to take the risk...so, we take a little inconvenience for a moment.
Just randomly seen that long legged girl again on 'This Morning' with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. Her name is Ekaterina Lisina. She's a 6ft 9in Russian model. She has the record for the world's longest legs and helped Russia to win bronze in the Olympic Basketball Team.
Allen Goldsmith Various members of the Royal Family. The Audi was probably Prince Charles as he has an A8L, and likes travelling with his window down. Bentley Flying Spur possibly Princess Anne. Range Rover probably Duke of Cambridge, Jaguar Countess of Wessex possibly or Duchess of Cambridge. The big Phantom not sure, but only The Queen, Prince Philip and Prince of Wales have the arms plaques on the roof because they are expensive and The Queen won't sanction more.
I never knew SEG were armed, surprised as they can't afford to spec the bikes with sirens! Plus the rear blue light looks like an eBay £5 burglar alarm light that's a waste of time as it can't be seen.
1) SEG very intentionally don't use sirens, the reason being that in a city like London people are so used to hearing sirens that you often don't give them a second thought; you become a little bit numb to them. So the SEG cleverly use whistles in place of sirens, as they cut through all the background noise and grab your attention, because when else do you ever hear a whistle on the average day? :) 2) All SEG officers, be they riders or in the convoy, are Authorised Firearms Officers and are armed as such. 3) The bikes also aren't liveried up with battenberg markings and such; this is to distinguish them from regular traffic police motorcycles, which although counterintuitive, makes them stand out more when out on the job. 4) The blue light works just fine, it's just that this was shot in daylight and seeing it isn't going to really help anyone. In fact, the rider's don't really want you to see them coming to some extent (no more than any other motorcycle on the road) because when motorists see blue lights in their rear view, they tend to make matters worse by slowing down or stopping in awkward places. Those officers want to get up ahead of the traffic and THEN make themselves and their intentions known. Hope that made sense :)

Well, that's not true at all, in fact, you HAVE to serve as a Met police officer for a certain amount of time before you can even apply to become an SEG.
