A very interesting question that comes up in our culture a lot these days, can we judge God? Other people? We think God does it right? Watch to find out what Pastor Mark has to say.

Amen, Pastor Mark! Thank you for not sanitizing the truth of the Bible and openly speaking about the realities of Heaven and Hell! Preach on.

i hate that you only reacted to this scene i hope you have watched the whole movie before voicing opions. i know this video is old but the movie isnt heiricy as some claim. its about discovering faith and forgiveness. the whole meeting god thing is left to the viewer to decide if it happened or not but the end makes it seem like it was all in his head. i was raised caathic and baptised and all that and i went to bible club every week. this movie taught me more about forgiveness and what god is to me then any time ive read through the bible. if viewed with zero pregitous is a great film that challeneges us to learn to forgive by giving an impossible situation and learning to move past it. wether or not you belive in god is up to you there is no real proof its all about faith. but this movie gives shape to aalot of things and brings into perspectivve whats truly importantt.

Hell is not an eternal state of eternal concscious torment. Its not bibical. It is a contruct derived by ancient Greek philosophers. Yes there are some verses that may seem to suggest it is somehting like that but when you compare all the references on the bible it is clear that the dead are in the grave, asleep now; and after the judgement is complete the universe will be forever destroyed of all traces of sin, except for Jesus and our testiomny to how God saved us.

Hey Village Church, could you ask Pastor Mark to react to 1997’ Contact? I’m personally thinking of the party scene with Matt and Jodie out on the balcony, but you could find another scene to use.

The logic of that scene was a total non-sequiter. If you can't decide which child to send to hell then don't blame god for evil? What now? That doesn't follow at all. It also equivocated on judgement in the sense of responsibility and judgement in the sense of making distinctions. The movie unintentionally brings out a theological tension. On the one hand, sin ought not to happen. But it is implied that sin is also part of a master plan. But if sin is a necessary part of the plan, why call it evil? (The Buddhist perspective, more or less.) But if evil need not have been part of the plan, why does it occur? (Back to the original problem.) You could bite the bullet and be a Calvinist, but why concern yourself with God at all? (Either he saves you or he doesn't, and there's nothing you can do to influence the outcome.)

The problem with this scene, is that God is not choosing people to go to heaven and hell, according to the Bible it is the people that are making the decision themselves. Also there are a number of variables the movie doesn't discuss that would definitely change the outcome of the situation, I'm a bit life is a bit more nuanced than that.

As Tozer put it, “When he (man) chooses to do evil, he does not thereby countervail the sovereign will of God but fulfills it, inasmuch as the eternal decree decided not which choice the man should make but that he should be free to make it.”

the kids choice scene is a false premise. not everyone are God's children. the way it was portrait in this scene makes God unjust too, and no one faces justice, which given the need for justice against the killer is something we need from God who is forever blessed amen

It promotes unconditional love and forgiveness. You can’t beat that!
It’s so foolish to put theology before that which is the greatest…….LOVE.
Those who know daddy‘s heart saw the message. Those who know the law could only see the law and how, in their eyes, it was wrong.

@@JennyS161 are you a progressive christian? He mentioned in The Shack how institutions like marriage, government, and church were Trinity of terrors. The author came out as a universalist in his book Lies We Believe about God. His attributes are equal, his love isn't greater than his holiness and his holiness isn't greater than his love. They are both equal. Love without truth is Universalism/Lukewarmness. Truth without love is Legalism.

I really dislike labels my friend.
I used to call myself a Christian for many years. But when daddy took me out of church, emptied me of all that I’d been taught, and filled me with HIS truth, I began to see how judgemental and hypocritical most Christians were.
      Not all, but most.
I began to see Daddys beauty in the outcast and the rejected ones. The ones who have his love in their hearts.
The ones who give generously despite having nothing, where most Christians hold on tightly to what they own.
The ones who accept all without question while most Christian’s look down their nose at anyone who doesn’t believe as they do.
I don’t understand the different titles for different beliefs because I’ve been set free from all of them. I’ve learnt the truth of walking in his perfect love.
I know daddy intimately, and have done for many years now. I found nothing at all in the movie that would make me question the daddy that I know.
I find it sad how people can miss the whole point of love and forgiveness by only highlighting what they didn’t agree with! It just shows what’s in a persons heart. The law or our fathers love. ❤️

God only exists in a believers imagination. The Shack is a hideous film made for people who already imagine a god exists and never question themselves.
Bible god is the most horrific character in the history of fact or fiction, as per the bible.
