      With this, it looks more like a racing incident. Hamilton was leaning too much into Max and Max's rear tyre had no where else to go. And this makes the FIA claim that Max had no right to racing room when Max is almost fully along side him all the more frustrating.

      @@marcyeo8320 yeah, maybe you should read the steward document. It’s clear: he wasn’t along side Lewis through the majority of the breaking zone. From the onboard you can see he’s behind Lewis by more than a cars length as they pass the breaking zone metre boards. He only get along side him enough during the mid phase Of the corner entry and that’s too late mate. That’s when you concede and try and get them again in the remaining corners over the remaining 20 odd laps. To not yield is just driving into the car ahead. A car on the outside should be along side through the breaking zone, and nearly completely alongside, or ahead even to control the corner. Anything else is just throwing your car into a space where it don’t belong and will collide with the car in front.

Its all about who gets to the turn 1st and picks a line. If Lewis was behind Max when they got to the turn then Ham would be required to give more space. But since Ham got their first and put his car in the turn 1st, he gets to choose the line, and Max needed to understand nobody would.just move aside so he could easily pass. If every driver used his logic then no driver would defend the inside they would just let whoever was close behind them going into the corner go through and overtake.
      Just as it is on the road it is on the track, if you are the driver behind you are considered at fault for not reacting to the car ahead and crashing into them.
      This animation has obviously taken real work but once again is biased in favour of verstappen seemingly putting him further forward than he actually was going into turn 2, but even with the bias it still shows that the only logical choice for verstappen going into turn 2 was to use the run off area like he forced Lewis to do on the first lap. The accident lays firmly and solely on verstappen's shoulders. The stewards wording on the penalty actually reads that there was basically nothing to suggest it wasn't solely verstappen's fault, so the penalty and points on the licence seem quite lenient to be honest.

      FIrstly it was side on, Brundle was very lucky to get away with nothing serious but the possible injuries wouldn't of been the same. Secondly the halo would of elivated that impact completely which with Hamilton is could only reduce the amount of downward force. Thirdly since that incident the headrest was introduced and revised on a number of occasions to help reduce the amount of sidewords head movement in the event of an accident which would of reduced Brundle's head movement yet have no impact on Hamiltons incident. Forth solely to do with Hamilton if the halo wasn't there then its possible the Hans device could of contributed to further injury on the shoulder/chest area if Hamiltons head was pushed down any further and the straps on the Hans device not given way or the Hans device base snapped, they are disigned very strong to stop the head traveling to far from the base of the spin in a high speed accident head on, not to prevent the weight of a car coming down on your head, looking at the angle Hamiltons head was at I'd hazard a guess his neck would of been uncomfortably stretched but luckily nothing serious, when sat in a modern F1 car you head is already leaning forward roughly 40° in relation to your torso, in the photos his head looks to of gone a further 45-60° forward, try it yourself sat on a chair and you'd feel the stretch at the base of you neck.

      I'm a former racing driver, no Hamilton didn't do anything wrong.
      Max wasn't ahead on the outside which is necessary to claim a car width.
      When overtaking on the outside, you need to be ahead to have right to a car width. This rule is often mixed up with the rules for overtake on the inside.
      When you want to overtake on the inside you just need to have your front wheel alongside your opponents rear wheel to get the right to one car width.
      And if you are ahead your opponent when overtaking on the inside, then you have the right to racing line, which basically means you can cut off your opponent and he/she has to either back off or take avoiding action.
      Many fans blame Hamilton for this crash in Monza, eventhough the stewards penalized Verstappen.
      On the starting lap in corner 4, Hamilton actually was ahead of Max on the outside which means Verstappen had to give one car width but he didn't whereas Hamilton was forced off track avoiding contact. That should also have been penalized.

  • @johnrussell5245
    @johnrussell5245 3 роки тому +8

    I just realised; if it hadn't been for Verstappen's rear wheel touching the rear wheel of Hamilton's car, Verstappen might have made the pass work. The wheel touching was the difference between this attempted overtake and other, successful, overtakes at this corner.

He was in a position where space was due to him but hamilton didn't give it, hence he was tributary of hamilton's steering movements. Since hamilton drove him out on the sausage kerb, his car jumped and the crash occured.
      What is even more astounding is how the stewards issued a penalty to verstappen but not to hamilton, when what hamilton did is a clear infringement of the racing rules. Great representation. Now why did verstappen get a penalty

    • @lauriedepaurie
      @lauriedepaurie 3 роки тому

      1. Max was the attacking party (the FIA typically discourages overtakes that could be considered dangerous, regardless of situation). They adapt a narrative accordingly.
      2. They penalized Lewis the last time and the FIA's target is to be *considered* fair and unbiased by fans. Not to actually be fair and unbiased. (Which is why they spent so much effort into explaing how it's the same penalty as in Silverstone even though these are totally different situations with different implications).
      3. Max's reputation. He didn't make any friends in his first couple of years, but his couple last seasons (despite his clear growth and zero penalty points for about an entire season) British media still depicts him as if he's all about crashing into others. If he were to come off without punishment it would make the FIA look like they are helping him to Hamilton fans. By Hamilton fans Max is called the 'Teflon kid'... because...reasons...presumably.
      The FIA and F1 are primarily in the industry of selling an experience. They are media companies that have a primary goal of selling. Not an actually fair, but an interesting sport. So they basically have to manage PR with politics. They don't go for the right thing, but for the thing that sells best.
