I’m so thankful to Germany for showing that female gymnasts have an option for a more modest leo. Now if teams can loosen their idea of uniformity and offer a modest version of their competition leos for whoever might prefer it, that would be a big step in the right direction for girls who have great potential in this sport but don’t want to show the whole world their ass cheeks. I also wonder if they could design a loose-fitting version with a tight head cover for Muslim girls. Unless a specific type of clothing is necessary to do the sport well or safely, it’s a shame to think that the only thing holding back a passionate and potentially great athlete from a sport, is the attire.
I appreciate that the German woman do a bit of a grapevine step on their sideways choreo unlike most gymnasts. It adds the slightest bit of actual risk.
I like the way she holds her hands when she’s setting up for and completing her skills. Does anybody know if she qualified for beam? (Edit: I just realized Germany hasn’t performed in qualifications yet)
