Why couldn't this scene have been shared by Morrigan and the Inquisitor so the one who drank from the Well of Sorrows could be the one imparting Mythal's wisdom to Rook? BioWare is lazy. I said from the moment I played Trespasser that BioWare was going to start funneling all choices down into basic stories that would cause the choices to not matter.

Sadly, the people that made the original games are not the ones that made this. Old Bioware is gone all that is left is an empty shell that the new Bioware hides in.

You know, Morrigan containing the spirit of Mythal works for me --- IF she drank from the well.
If she didn't drink from the well, then she missed out on what Flemeth wanted to give her, and the Inquisitor should have the spirit of Mythal.
Though the writing is shit no matter how you look at it.

      @@ConnorLonergan Seems unlikely.
Look, Morrigan was being prepared from birth to be the Mythal host. That fits. That makes sense with what Flemeth was doing all this time and her whole cryptic existence and what Morrigan feared.
But I don't think it was every a complete certainty. Morrigan had the capacity to host Mythal, but from what we saw, drinking from the well was part of the ritual. That's when you get a download into your head of all things elven that you don't already know.
That was supposed to be a major step for Morrigan. But because they made it a player choice, it may never have been completed. We're essentially living in Bioware's retconned world because, again, their writing for Veilguard was crap and they didn't want to take account of all the possible permutations of player choice.

"Nah, Mythal's spirit comes to her no matter what, and there you go. But your choices mattered! At the time you made them at least." - BioWare
No reason the Inquisitor couldn't have been in this scene as well to represent Mythal if he or she drank from the Well.

From the beginning morrigan stood against everthing flemeth wished for. Morrigan only wanted to be free of her mother's shackles and live for herself. Even her god baby plan in origin was for this. Now her saying she is mythal in such a calm tone is like shadowheart embracing shar imo.

    • @minstora
      @minstora 15 днів тому +3

That was all based on Morrigan misunderstanding severely the situation. Even in Origins; Flemeth's tone and word choice regarding the Warden confronting her on Morrigan's behalf implies as such.
Also in the Dark Horse Comic's specifically The Silent Grove which came out 2 years prior to Inquisition Yavana (Morrigan's sister) also confirms that Morrigan does not understand what exactly she's rejecting, and that it's in truth a gift. (Which Morrigan seemingly now understands by the way she talks about taking in Mythal now)
Following the games, and supplementary lore, it makes perfect sense for Morrigan to accept Mythal, especially with the knowledge that she's her own person.
Hell she is OBSESSED with preservation, to the point that she may disobey your Inquisitor in Inquisition and go after the well even after you as a player decide to work together with the temple elves. So upon understanding that taking in Mythal is more about preservation and not about subjugation at all. I definitely can see her accepting.

Honestly with Veilguard revealing what a massive bitch Mythal was, even with the "misunderstanding" and "gift" taken into account, especially with Flemeth's raising of her being so rotten that even Flemeth can't really defend that (lmao at the game showing Lucanis to be grateful to his Crow upbringing, by theway), I don't even think Morrigan embracing Mythal makes sense even in a wider context.

      @@Thissentenceisfalselosers
My point is that even when free from Flemeth (who was definitely an abusive parent, not debating that lmao) Morrigan was obsessed with *preservation* and all things elven.
If she was willing to drink from the Well of Sorrows for the sake of preservation, taking in Mythal really comes across as completely reasonable for her for me?
I see it as her separating Flemeth from Mythal if anything. She did it for the sake of knowledge and preservation, as well as I'm sure her own personal reasons.
She doesn't have to like Mythal as a person and has no problem acknowledging what an ass and how uptight the god can be lmao. But still she had her reasons and they make sense to me.
Now on the Crows stuff I kinda agree? 😅😅
Like I'm sure for SOME Crows namely the human ones I could see how their service to the crows is one they're happy to oblige in, as maybe they're brought into as a result of their families or some other reason. Maybe they take pride in it, see it as a service to the people of Antiva, whatever right.
But it is weird to see them as psuedo good guys in this story? I mean they make some attempts to make sure we know they aren't outright good.
Lucanis and Davrin get into an argument at the Lighthouse where Lucanis calls out the Wardens as being a shoddy organization (because they pretend to be good guys) and when Davrin points out the same of the Crows, Lucanis retorts by saying: The Crows at least don't hide who they really are.
But still its weird, my 2nd playthrough I plan on doing an Elven rogue belonging to the Crows faction and... I have trouble like wrapping my head around being exactly happy working with them as likely because I'm playing an Elf my character would have been bought by the Crows..
Idk I understand a LOT of people wanted to play as an Antivan Crow I personally woulda been fine if it wasn't a faction you could be a part of, but still played a supporting role in the story. Similar to how Harding reps the Inquisition yet your Rook cant.

@@minstora See I was sort of with you up until you mentioned separating her from Flemeth, because in the game Morrigan SPECIFICALLY talks about Flemeth in "oh, she had a hard life, but she was a softie deep down who missed me" tones which to me is exactly as nonsensical as Lucanis vindicating how he was raised. THAT is the part that absolutely sucks balls, and made me glad to pirate this trash.

@handbanana4899 ahhhh I forgot about that part, yeah you're right. If that bit was left out I'd be more on board. I don't like that either. I admit their retcon is too hard into tryna erase Flemeths abusiveness. It'd be better written if they embraced it.

This game to Dragon Age is what Force Awakens to Star Wars was. Stupid death of fan favourite character - check. Massacring what previous protagonists were fighting for - check. Goofiness and inconsistenty - check. Dumb dialogues - check.
Middle finger to you, Bioware, this game is an insult.

Odd the Mythal would rest "entirely" in Morrigan, considering that basically EVERY variation of my Inquisitor drank from the well and absorbed a portion of Mythal in the process.
Also, isn't it sort of "anti-Mythal" to take a character like Morrigan who was HAPPY with Kieran as a mother to suddenly become Mythal, considering that basically EVERY variation of Mythal (real/lore/myth/god) were women who had been BETRAYED by their lover or husband?
I just got to know. Did the activist writers at Bioware even PLAY the prior games.... or do they just do their self-insert and then try to justify it by CONTRADICTING absolutely EVERY character/player choice along the way?

Agreed. I was hoping for so much more for Morrigan other than just some advice-giver. And her story of being torn by the choice to accept the spirit that appeared before her doesn't make sense in the context of her having already drank from the Well. In that case Mythal's spirit could have compelled her to receive it.
