Hi, this is Abe "Mozza" Atchia, co-author with Bill of his forthcoming book. First off, my sincere thoughts, prayers and best wishes to everyone at this difficult time. God bless our NHS. 99.9% of the comments here speak for themselves. Thank you. Bill's forthcoming book isn't intended to be the standard "we went here and had a row, then went there and had another one." It is, however, the definitive life-story of British football's most notorious terrace figure. His standing is endorsed by a who's who of top 'faces', from a time when football violence was at it's most savage. Contributions are also included from two former Premier League players, as well as a decorated British serviceman, who cites Bill's words ringing in his ears during a fire-fight in Bosnia. But it's essentially the story of how Bill went from a vulnerable, bullied, working class, east-end kid, to a terrace icon, whose name became known across Britain and beyond, and every shocking twist and turn along the way. Documenting Bill's life opens up a world of painful memories and disturbing violence. Some of the truly shocking moments of that life-story, which could not be included in this superb video (big shout Kev!), are also detailed, as Bill wipes the slate clean for the final time, settling a few old scores along the way with brutal honesty. As he says in an earlier post, we're aiming for the bookshelves and all e-formats by next Summer. Cheers for taking the time to read this post, for your comments and your shares, All the best and stay safe, Mozza

All respect to Bill, and those who lived the life back in the day. As a Man City fan at the time he's talking about, this was my life too. As a result, I had my eighteenth birthday in Strangeways prison (GBH, ABH, Wounding). Never a villain, it was all about the people, the beer, and the battle. A different time and a different mentality. Unlike Bill, luckily I did find my way in life, funny enough, through more fighting! Anyone interested, have a read of 'Redemption - a street fighters path to peace.' I was never a 'name', but I 'was' there...walking the walk, not just talking the talk. Looking forward to a great read when I get your book Bill.
I've lived and loved football throughout my life but here's what I've discovered in life. Football Is meant to help us by encouraging us to fight and win our battles. I went to many games in the 70s and saw a lot of stuff but kept away from the trouble. I can remember being in the North Bank and seeing away fans in the South Bank make some noise and up would go the chant “Mile End, Mile End do your job, Mile End do your job” and seeing West Ham take Arsenal’s North Bank and sing “Bubbles” and “ We took the North Bank Highbury again” from their end……amazing times and memories. Respect Bill.

Hi all, As Bill has already stated, I’m delighted to say his new book will be released next month. It’s been a few years in the making but I’m happy to say we got there! ‘Bill Gardner: The Man, The Myth, The Legend’ is slightly less focused on terrace culture and more on how a 14-year-old Essex kid became the man he did. It was, as the book reveals, a painful, traumatic and at times dangerous journey. Fighting men twice his age for money in Gypsy organised bareknuckle pit-fights at 15 years of age is probably one of the least shocking chapters of Bill’s life, on the way to becoming, in the eyes of many I’ve spoken to, a part of West Ham United’s fabric and history. A host of Bill’s friends have generously paid their own tributes and reminisces of Bill. These include, in no particular order: Big Ted, Cass Pennant, Bunter Marks, Danny Brown (Aston Villa), Frank McAvennie, Corporal “Peterborough Tony”, Carlton Leach, Gary “Boatsy” Clark (Nottingham Forest), Stuart Slater, Joey Williams, John Wraith (QPR), Lol, Scobie and Neil. Desperately trying not to sound sanctimonious, and with the obvious, ultimate input and honesty of Bill taken as read, the book couldn’t and wouldn’t have been written without the help, support and time of all those listed above. Look out for an exclusive interview with Bill in GHQ Magazine next month, while Kevin Slade of SDCC has a further UA-cam advert in the pipeline. The book is with the publishers and will be available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited in both eBook AND traditional book formats on November 18. Thanks very much for taking the time to read this ridiculously long post, and once again many thanks for your comments, shares, likes and re-tweets - to say we’re grateful don’t cover it so do keep them coming! All the best, and do all stay safe in these continually difficult times, Best wishes, Abe “Mozza “ Atchia Co- Author “Bill Gardner: The Man, The Myth, The Legend”
As another human I relate to you I spent thirty years of my life selling badges hats and scarves on green street , next Pete Hilton later Ellis , and next to Gary . You are so right the people are unbelievable and I come from Bradford , I can't visit Upton park as I don't know if I could handle it , knowing all the happy times I had there. You are a special person and I don't want that to sound condescending but I always felt the respect people had for you . Stay lucky and a massive respect from me .
One thing you got wrong Bill when saying there is good and bad people. No way is the man I just watched - showing strength but even more compassion - in the middle! A good man without question. Southend United.

Even though Im a Man United fan, there was something quite sad about the bit he was talking about West Ham leaving Upton Park. Don't think the powers that be understand the connection and emotions fans have to those old grounds, the walk up to the ground, the pubs, the people etc.
I know goodison is a very old ground but I’ll be gutted when we leave it. It will feel to commercial an like selling out to big business. Ayrsome park was a wild day out 👍

Definitely seen Bill in a different light after this interview. Comes across as a very genuine bloke. Good luck to you Bill
what a lovely bloke! enjoyed that a lot. Respect to ya Bill.
I have the utmost respect for you, Bill. Your story is told honestly, intelligently and there is never a dull moment. May you live a long and happy retirement.
Your A Gentleman Bill, Always Have been and Always Will Be
I was a barnardos boy born in lambeth,,and can relate to so much of what bill has said im 58 now i ve been a chelsea fan since i was 8 so who knows we prob met up in tne old days good luck to you bill ,,,David Webster Norfolk
Respect from a Bedford gooner living in new Zealand.
What an amazing man .. total respect most would have crumbled in that situation ended up on hard drugs and given up .. true character and I hope he has every happiness ... respect bill West Ham number 1 xxx
Never met him but heard all about him from being a football lad in 80s really moving and honest interview with more people where like him respect from cardiff
A true legend in every sense respect to you Bill from a Liverpool fan
Never meet this fellow but what a Gentleman ! Good luck Bill 👍
Hi all,
As Bill has already stated, I’m delighted to say his new book will be released next month.
All the best, and do all stay safe in these continually difficult times,
Best wishes,
Abe “Mozza “ Atchia
Co- Author “Bill Gardner: The Man, The Myth, The Legend”
I have mine mate, thanks Abe.
What a sympathetic and honest man. Respect from Germany 👍🏻
Geezer ... fair play to you fella, you are well respected everywhere 👍 kind regards MCFC
Nice one Del
Mr Gardner I so enjoyed watching this, i know of you from the football but you are a whole package. what a lovely bloke you are. Thanks for doing this
It was a pleasure listning to you Bill. Thank. Im C.A.F.C
Just found this.
I worked with Bill at Horley Town in the 90's
This man is a gem for the ages...SO great with the kids.
Love to you Bill
One thing you got wrong Bill when saying there is good and bad people. No way is the man I just watched - showing strength but even more compassion - in the middle! A good man without question.
Southend United.
This tuesday 23rd june 2020, we will lay to rest one of my bestfriends, dennis lepine,we have been great mates for 45 years,he was the brother i never had, everybody liked dennis,he would help anybody out,i will miss him He was a man of peace.we shared many a trip in preseason.
Even though Im a Man United fan, there was something quite sad about the bit he was talking about West Ham leaving Upton Park. Don't think the powers that be understand the connection and emotions fans have to those old grounds, the walk up to the ground, the pubs, the people etc.
Ruthypops1 was the same when we (boro) left ayresome park hasnt been the same atmosphere since. That was back in 1995.
I know goodison is a very old ground but I’ll be gutted when we leave it. It will feel to commercial an like selling out to big business. Ayrsome park was a wild day out 👍
They don't care... Understanding don't come in to it, unfortunately. 😞💰💸💲😩😁
Quite right my friend. Its a joyless, souless athletic stadium. No matter what spin they put on it.Been a few times and along with a lot of mates giving it a miss COYI

Bill, you are a super chap & I know you say it feels like the problems you've had made you unable to find what it is you are destined to do but rest-assured, many, many, many people have that same experience & those that say they don't are merely fronting up. It's part of being human & is a perfectly normal thing to feel. You are a well-spoken, unassuming, very genuine, likeable guy.
Hello Bill, what’s your new book called?👍⚒
Been a West Ham fan all my life and was hugely impressed with the quality of the interview and of the man. Shall be putting in my order for the book and generally avoid the football hooligan/Danny Dire bullshit books. Top man.
Great interview, as you say Bill, win , lose or draw, its all about the people.

Bill, I remember you in the mid 70s, I travelled pretty much every game from Leicester to watch west ham, home and away, and was still at it in the late 90's, I'm 55 now and definitely have claret and blue blood, I have fantastic memories from the good old days, looking forward to the book, All the very best,
