The German authorities today (Thursday) freed a Red Army Faction terrorist, who was serving a life sentence for killing three American soldiers with a car bomb.
Irmgard Moeller, who was jailed 22 years ago, has been released early because of poor health.
There was no sign of remorse as Irmgard Moeller stepped out of her prison to the cheers of supporters.
They sang 1960's anti-Vietnam War songs, chanted revolutionary slogans and offered bouquets of flowers.
Moeller was convicted of driving one of two explosive-laden cars that blew up on May 24, 1972.
She killed U-S army Captain Clyde R. Bonner and two enlisted men, Charles L. Peck and Ronald A. Woodward.
Six weeks later, she was arrested and sentenced to life plus fifteen years.
Now reported to be suffering from a skin disease, she still clings to her beliefs, and vows to fight for those she calls "political prisoners"

"Now, for the future, my plan is to continue fighting for the freedom of the people still in prison because it can't be that others will stay as long as I have, that they will become ill as I did. That is very important to me and to all the people here, and to those who fight for the freedom of political prisoners in Germany"

The US. State department objected to her release because she showed no remorse for her politically motivated attack.
A court in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, where the prison is located, decided she's unlikely to commit another violent crime, and placed her on probation for five years.

She was released in 1994 and is still alive and well at 74. It is the USA that deserves to face justice for it's crimes against the world.

Nothing happened, Justice let this murderer go. Baader Meinhoff, who later became RAF was a communist terrorist gang who kidnapped, shot and bombed in the name of their Marxist revolution. They are responsible for 34 deaths. I was in Deutschland when Meinhoff hung herself. We were ready for them at the 97th, which they had vowed to attack. They murdered in the name of Marxism. This mass murderer, Irmgard Moeller, should have been executed. I would not care if her skin was on fire. She murdered 3 US soldiers.
They didn`t *later* become the RAF. The name "Baader-Meinhof gang" was given to them by the press, and while not particularly flattering, it was still a better name than *raf* (pronounced *rough* ) or *Red Army Faction* , because those names aroused traumatic associations with Arthur Harris` bombing squads as well as Stalin`s vengeful soldiery; associations that definitely were *not* intended by the urban guerilla`s founders.
As you certainly know, Ulrike Meinhof had been a respected political journalist before she decided to leave her husband and move to West Berlin in order to join the students` movement in 1968. Three years earlier, she had written an article on occasion of the 20th anniversary of the firebombing of Dresden in which she equated the bombing of Dresden with the bombing of North Vietnam by the US and, indeed, with *some* of the Nazis` genocidal atrocities.

Communist North Vietnam was invading South Vietnam and fighting a war with ARVN and their allies, the US. Therefore, they should expect to be bombed.
Meinhof chose to join the terrorists. She was arrested and hung herself. I was in Deutschland when she hung herself. We at the 97th General Hospital were prepared for an attack by the gang, although it never materialized.
Their style was more a bomb or bullet in the back than a direct attack. For some reason Heidelberg Officer's Club and the 97th General Hospital were avowed targets.
