My honest opinion is that if Cheryl had proper vocal coaching that she'd definitely be a decent vocalist. She clearly has power in her voice and could be a good belter, she just doesn't know how to use her voice. Honestly, if the girls got to be at their strongest vocally, I honestly think the ranking would look something like this: 1. Sarah (has the MOST potential by far) 2. Nadine 3. Nicola/Cheryl (Cheryl with the belts and Nicola with consistency) 5. Kimberley (she's more of a rapper & dancer tbh)
I think Sarah is too unstable in her performances to be really considered good. She has good days, but more often she has really bad days. I think Nicola is a much better vocalist than Sarah.

I'm really pleased your studying Girls Aloud vocals. Really happy with your high praise of Sarah's vocals here. She got alot of unfair criticism while on Celebrity Big Brother for not being able to sing whilst doing a task. Girl's Aloud even had amazing b-sides on their singles, that could had been hit singles.

Girls Aloud actually helped me learn how to sing and I am finding your analysis of their vocals spot on and so so satisfying. Bless Kimberley but she often struggles to sing her (usually very brief) solo lines on key and then causes a domino effect where the next girl to sing has to struggle to get back to the right key after being thrown off.
I think Cheryl's problem here was nerves, you can hear in her first solo lines "Cuz I can't play this..." etc. So shaky, but after judging peoples singing to trying to prove yourself on the most watched TV show would play havoc on your voice. I think a more accurate state of their voices with this track live, would come from the Royal Variety Performance in 2012.
I can't believe I never knew you were a Girls Aloud fan! Now I love you even more. However, this is my first time watching their live performances since Sarah passed and wow...what a tremendous loss. I feel like I'm falling in love with Girls Aloud all over again but the fact Sarah is no longer with us feels so wrong on so many levels and the fact is if they do ever perform together again there will he a gaping hole where Sarah should be. I don't think Girls Aloud were the most all-around talented girlsband but they were by far the smartest- always played on each other's strengths. None of them were vocally brilliant in every aspect, but together they were capable of making AMAZING songs

I am so sad that Nadines latest album got cancelled, and that her previous one had a limited release because her voice is fantastic. Love this critique! What I do love about bands is that it’s always the end result of all the voices together. I notice they don’t always give Kimba what’s in her range though! They are definitely stronger on tour when their stamina has to be at peak
Honestly, my opinion is that if Girls Aloud hadn't had that break between 2009 and 2012, that Sarah would have ended up being a better vocalist than Nadine. She always seemed to be the most consistent live (with Nicola) but they went on hiatus too early for her to fulfill her potential. She really could have become the group's powerhouse singer.
