Hi, resident Justin Haley fan here! Would like it to be known that we have had top 20 speed almost every weekend this year. However, pit road has been HORRENDOUS for us this year, many bad pit calls as well as just slow pit stops. Kaulig’s program is building and while the finishes haven’t shown it we’ve had a damn good season so far!
Hot take but if Gilliland was in the 38 the whole year he’d be a sneaky playoff contender. And FRM as a whole is a good pit crew away from being yearly playoff contenders. Imagine mcdowell had Blake Harris still, I think there’s a good chance he’d make the playoffs. McDowell honestly should have won Sonoma he had the speed to keep up with Truex
There have been races he's been in the top 10 but bad luck or driver mistakes have taken him down, I still have hopes for the remaining half of the season, at least a win in a road course or a superspeedway
It's been a good year as a Stenhouse fan. All the years of bad luck and awful showing finally has seemed to have turned around. Super proud of him and that whole 47 team.
He really is though that 51/15 when he's driving it has pretty consistently finished on the lead lap in so many races this year. Rick is buying the flip engines from RFK while operating out of their shop now. That alone seems to have been a massive improvement for their running order and qualifying speed.
Being totally honest i would not be shocked if we saw Ricky Stenhouse make the round of 8 or even the final 4 with how consistent he is compared to the top guys i think if he makes it past the round of 16 he'll make the round of 8
Yeah... Pre JJ they seemed like they were finally moving in the right direction! Now... It's like a building dropped on them after they fell off a cliff!!!
Thank you for guiding me through my NASCAR world. #24 is going to go on a roll in the second half 🚀 #20 getting his pit crew swapped out on him took away any and all of Bells momentum after his dirt win.
Chase Elliott fan here, yep everything is great buuut need that W to get in not hitting the panic button yet but still got 16 races to go before the cut off.
I really hope people did not bully Ross into becoming more calm on the track. Watching him be so chaotic and reckless is honestly so fun to watch and we have needed a driver like that who is different from everyone else for so long. Everyone whines about "no personality" in the sport but when we finally get it, they complain and it want it gone. Ross Chastain got here and runs up front because of his extreme aggression and imo he shouldn't calm down at all. Idc how stupid it can get at times. It also helped lead to the iconic hail melon
On the contrary, I’d argue it’s his personality that rubs people the wrong way. His constant apologies and promises to cut down on his mistakes after wrecking someone keep me, at least, from liking him. I’m sure I’m not the only one. If he embraced the villain role I think he’d have a larger fanbase.
Except for the gateway, he had a tire go flat on him while battling for the win. And Sonoma, what did happen to him cause he was not even mentioned or even a factor in that race
Dover yes, but mostly on larson and team. Mistakes like hitting wall or speeding on pit road. I believe Daytona is somewhat on him. I don’t know what the deal with Auto Club, Nascar or team? I kind of think team. Some on Denny Hamlin for that wreck. He was terrible after running into preece at Bristol dirt. I’m more mad at Denny.
I think spire should sell the 77 charter. I don't think Ty Dillon is that much worse than Lajoie I think they are putting more effort in the 7 car than the 77
I'd doubt Spire Motorsports will be selling their charter anytime soon, but if they decide to, perhaps this might be a chance for Dale Jr. to get a charter so JR Motorsports can go full time in the Cup Series.
Almirola is the latest victim of the Drew Blickensderfer effect look at the drivers that Blickensderfer had and failed, Matt Kenseth, David Ragan, Marcus Ambrose, Bubba Wallace, Micheal Mcdowell the list goes on, but i admit hes a good plate track crew chief.
I could be wrong but with these cars and the level of competition it seems like we'll see it more common for drivers to have winless seasons and wouldn't surprise me to see 18 different drivers win next year, yet the cream always rises to the top. Excited to see how the next few years unholds.
Maybe since theres no draft for these car owners that finish last in owner points to pick from to at least up their crew or driver talent Maybe give them R&D time let them test the new stuff out give them so many hours in on track testing every off season. If Hendrick Gibbs Penske or Stewart-Haas don't like it tell'em to finish in the last 2 places in owner points. Like I said the cream will rise to the top, money talks and bull shit walks however does seem like lower teams are putting up a hell of a fight in this new car. But for how long, only lying to ourselves if we think these top teams won't figure it out. Owners cry for a affordable car and what's the first thing they do, spend a shit ton of money trying to find loop holes an a edge.
I know I'm gonna sound like "that guy" but let's not forget Byron only has 3 wins this year because of late race shenanigans. Larson had him, Harvick definitely had it, and It was gonna be Ross or Kyle at Darlington. I still think he's been really good though. As a great man once said, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
Everyone keeps saying Kyle Busch Is “ motivated “ this year and that he’s dangerous…. I can’t think of any year that’s been different…. Kyle Busch has been motivated and dangerous every single race of his career. Fast cars and setup’s come and go, but Kyle’s talent/ motivation has always been there! 😎
@xKami102x They should. Based on what the HMS 24 team have been doing throughout the season up to this point, I think William Byron and his #24 team will be one of your championship 4. Kyle Busch and the RCR #8 team should be just about as solid also, and I think you have to think about Kyle Larson and the HMS #5 team, as well. I have to think Martin Truex and the JGR #19 group will be there as well.
I would put Todd Gilliland in the everything is great category. For him everything is great, BUT he has to drive five or six races for RWR because of Zane Smith.
Chase Elliott is going to win in my opinion 2 to 3 races in regular season look at the next races Nashville, Chicago, Atlanta, New Hampshire, Watkins Glen and Daytona he win this year 👍🏾
IMO Blaney had the winning car at Phoenix last year, but team orders would ask him to defend or hold back for a Penske championship. He has been put in similar situations in the past while at Penske. Also, I wonder if LMC was already in discussions with Toyota before the season even started? It would help explain the early poor performance... we may never know...

Not a Kyle Busch fan, but he could win it all. William Byron is my favorite driver and hope he does win it all. Never count out Larson and Truex Jr. I think Chase Elliott will get a win and make the playoffs. I think overall Eric's analysis is right on.

I'd like to challenge the Almirola is "not as committed" line. He did just beat Larson in the Xfinity race, which seems mightily committed. SHR equipment is simply trash.
What equipment is trash? Be specific, what equipment is causing poor performance? Every team has access to the same equipment. It's what you do with it that makes a given team successful or not.
@@c.d.8975 That is true. I probably have been a bit harsh on SHR, but I do want to see them win a race. Maybe it's the specific engine panel that got Briscoe a penalty. That part's trash because it is illegal.
I would've put Elliott in the hoped for better category. He hasn't had race winning speed all year and that's a major problem when your in a must win situation. If he gets a win it will probably be at Daytona or Atlanta where anyone can win on the superspeedways.
I would have put Chase Elliott hoped for better after his suspension and missed 6 races for a leg injury but I agree with Kyle Busch he got out of the playoffs in the round of 8 but this year he could probably be the champion for the third time in his career and he only got 59 wins for Joe Gibbs and maybe he might stay in RCR for the rest of his career and get champships maybe even tie up with Jimme Johnson,Richard Petty, and Dale Earnhardt.

I think there's some easy "but" arguments to make for the 12, 8, and 11. The 8 and 11 lack consistency that drivers need to get to the championship 4. For the 12, he's in a Ford.
@kevindearing4704 Fair(ish), especially on Hamlin, but I truly believe the 8 team and driver, are really beginning to click, and that consistency is trending upward, quite a bit upward. Personally, I think they've got it together, all the wheels are rolling, and they're going to reel off an impressive string of top fives and wins going forward. I think you will see Kyle Busch and the RCR #8 team solid the rest of the season, en route to 6-8 wins, and a championship 4 appearance, with a great shot at the season championship 💪🏁🏆🙂
The talk that Justin Marks had with Chastain did the team/driver no favors.

Personally, I think they've got it together, all the wheels are rolling, and they're going to reel off an impressive string of top fives and wins going forward. I think you will see Kyle Busch and the RCR #8 team solid the rest of the season, en route to 6-8 wins, and a championship 4 appearance, with a great shot at the season championship 💪🏁🏆🙂
to be fair, Ty Gibbs should have had a top 10 hell maybe even a top 5 at Charlotte until he got caught up and wrecked by Larson
He should've had at least 2 more top 10's than he already has, let's not forget Kansas
Calling it now all Chevy final 4! Lol
I think you done a good job of ranking. I pretty much agreed with all of them.
