Patty Hype always feels like a season 4 episode to me. Even though I know it's season 2, it has that energy of the show starting to become more hit and miss.
Me personally my #1 pick would probably be Graveyard Shift since 90% of the episode takes place in front of the Krusty Krab cash register which isn't really that interesting of a set piece to warrant an 11 minute segment.

My most overrated SpongeBob episode is easily My Leg! Making an episode out of a running gag and giving the gag a backstory is such a stupid idea and it just made me hate the gag. I get why people enjoy it but what bothers me is how it's on people's top 10 favorite SpongeBob episodes of all time list and even considered by many to be the best modern SpongeBob episodes. It's not even close to being the best season 11 episode. Seriously, how is My Leg better than Squid Noir (my favorite modern SpongeBob episode), Karen's Virus, Shopping List, and Scavenger Pants? I will say I love season 11. Not only is it my favorite modern SpongeBob season but my favorite season since the original 3. But My Leg doesn't deserve to be ranked among the best season 11 episode.
I can see your point in almost all of these, but Mermaid and Barnacleboy III not that much! The fact that it takes place mostly in the same setting isn't an issue for me, and although it's weird that it has that episode title when Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy don't stick around for long, that doesn't bother me either.

I immediatly agree with number 1. I always notice myself just wayting for the song entire episode, as the rest is not so interesting or enjoyable to me. Ironically, that's the episode I mention when I tell my friends that Spongebob is a great series and I provide this episode's moral (this exact idea was novel for a time for cartoons) as a proof of Spongebob being a great show not just for kids.
Personally, "Club SpongeBob" feels like "Snowball Effect" and "The Box" done all wrong ways. Aside from Squidward torture as usual SpongeBob and Patrick are presented here as strange mix of idiots and assholes punishing Squidward even more. Sure, Squidward was wrong from the start, but there's just nothing, no clever jokes, no funny moments, nothing but pain for Squidward. "Snowball Effect" and "The box" were great because Squidward was the one causing troubles on himself, SpongeBob and Patrick were just playing together. Squidward also got to have fun in the end and, surprisingly he wasn't injured even when he got thrown in the junkyard with the box.
@@ashesGeek Squidward literally climbed up a giant kelp to get inside the club house which Spongebob and Patrick warned him he wouldn't fit. You can argue Squidward didn't know what they mean't but he should of been mature enough to just keep going instead of going into a club house he wasen't invited to. Also Squidward makes fun of Spongebob and Patrick for listening to the conch and shows them food which he proceeds to tell them they can't have. Squidward deserves the pain he gets later in the episode. Also, he literally caused the problem, he climed the vine and slingshotted himself to the kelp forest. You clearly haven't seen the episode in a while so I reccomend it, so many good jokes and character interactions. Also, at the end of "the box" squidward falls into pie. @@neonthunder3261I understand the frustration! It's definitely more satisfying when you can find people who think outside the box or have unique opinions :) This video is great for that
Honestly, since one of the biggest reasons these episodes are supposedly overrated to this guy is that they somehow drag at points, I don't get angry that much with his opinions, nor do I take them seriously. They drag at points. What does that mean? Define drag? That sounds pretty subjective and not like an actual objective flaw in the episodes. I don't see how these episodes drag in any way. I never found them lagging or too repetitive at points, which would constitute as dragging. I don't consider these episodes to be my favorites either, but I don't see where people are wrong in considering them to be some of the best. I very much agree with his stance on Back To The Past, though. The humor and tone are not on par with what spongebob is(that being like what they are in the first three seasons)and not in a good way. In a way in which it feels less creative and like a show that's past its prime, so to speak.
I have a hot take in that I’m starting to think SpongeBob being constantly memed and quoted definitely leads to the first three seasons as a whole becoming massively overrated. Sure, a lot of clever gags and plots were sprung from those seasons and SpongeBob definitely has a place in my heart, for some reason, I struggle to really laugh at the show in the same way I used to. I can’t really use the cliché “well I’m just more mature now” excuse when I often laugh still at children’s shows and Nick shows, I do genuinely believe classic SpongeBob jokes people tend to over quote in much less funny ways get stale “is mayonnaise an instrument” and “he was number one” I’ll likely never laugh at again simply because I’ve heard these jokes so many times from memes and it’s inescapable if you have a job or go to public school. You literally cannot escape overused SpongeBob jokes. It’s been like that for over 10 years it seems like. After a while, the jokes just get stale and old. Tastes in humor evolve, and you’re just longing for something less predictable, so the references just don’t get laughs out of you the same way. It just kind of normalizes the craziness of SpongeBob and that in turn makes it feel like generic meme humor instead of a creative show with heart that had some fun, well written stories with clever jokes. I can acknowledge that certainly isn’t fair tot the show , and I still love the show, don’t get me wrong. I just think I can definitely cite burnout and quote overuse as a source for me just not laughing at SpongeBob the same way I used to., The reason why I target mainly the first three seasons in calling them overrated is because so many people overuse the jokes of that season when there’s a plethora of hidden Gags and funny things about the rest of the show or even the first 3 seasons that no one ever talks about. But yeah…. I feel even a massive SB fan like me is started to get a bit waterlogged ( if you catch what I did there. ) A lot of the classic episodes sadly while I definitely think they’re clever, well written and good, they sadly just don’t make me laugh anymore. Not as much.
My favorite episode has always been clams but I rarely see any hope about it besides people loving the beginning of the fourth wall joke with the people playing music
I agree with Mermaid and Barnacle Boy III being kind of boring and dragged out not gonna lie. The idea of the episode is cool, but it felt like one long first act with a really rushed conclusion.
Honestly I agree with this list and actually kinda have a hatred for the last two on the list. I do like mermaidman and barnacle boy 3 and the time travel one but even they are just ok not the best of those seasons. (Although anything good coming out of season 7 is good in and of itself)
5. It's just ok. 4. Not overrated to me but I do find it worse than SB-129, yeah. 3. I really like the plot idea but it's not all that funny to me honestly, particularly the wallet meme, it's like Patrick is low-key evil. Still good though 2. Not as good as the previous but still pretty good though yeah, overrated. 1. I understand. Overall it's not amazing to me but it is good and my favorite parts are the lifeguard and the song which is my favorite song of the season. Chocolate With Nuts is number 6? My channel is literally focused on a character that uses guns.
I get why people would call it that because of nothing really happen in the story, but I personally wouldn't call it overrated. It's not as interesting as "Graveyard Shift", but it's still interesting as first SpongeBob/Squidward duo episode with a lot of good jokes and character interactions.
Are you positive Sand Castles in the Sand isn't even in your Top 10? It's kind of impossible for me to see how that garbage fest gets a free pass for ticking all the usual middle season tropes sans Squidward the Punching Bag and Krabs's Fall from Grace.
Personally i think club spongebob and perfect chemistry are the most overrated since I found them both to be quite boring. I think the best episode is rather pizza delivery or secret box. I would say wormy but that gawd dawn horsefly jumpscare ruins the episode for me
I agree, Ripped Pants is highly overrated and one of the most boring season one episodes. Why? Because almost nothing happens. The entire episode is centered over one unfunny joke that just drags on and on. (I guess that is the moral of the episode though). I do really like the song though, and we do get to meet Larry for the first time. However, Ripped Pants looks like the greatest episode of the series compared to the terrible-ness Squid torture that would come directly after it..
band geeks, i really never understood why people love this episode at all tbh, its not really that funny at all besides the one part in the beginning where squidward is trying to teach them at the performance room the rest of the episode has very strange pacing, overall isn’t that funny, and the ending scene, is just bad. Yes, squidward “wins” but sweet victory always just felt extremely out of place to me and the whole real people football crowd also felt extremely out of place, i dont hate the episode but for my entire life ive found it to be one of the weakest season 1-4 episodes.

As both a kid and as a an adult, I didn’t find it all that funny, nor do I understand why everyone considers it S tier.
I think the entire Sponge Bob series is overrated. I grew up in the 1970's and 80's and I'm glad I was never exposed to this type of show as a kid. This is a mind-numbing cartoon that kills brain cells and leaves you dumb and dumber after viewing it. Shows like this and Family Guy are the reason why so many young people are lacking in intelligence these days.
I think if you really watched the first 3 seasons of SpongeBob, you would find some great episodes that have great writing. You’re just grouping it with new SpongeBob episodes. I mean they are better than the cheap garbage you grew up with like fat Albert or he man
That's just kinda ridiculous, the first 3 seasons are actually not "brainrot" and are well written, and has actually given me a little bit of knowledge, like I don't think I ever would have known about the definitions of the words "Enigma" or "Attica" or "Metabolic" so go watch the first 3 seasons and maybe you'll change your mind. :)

Honestly I agree with this list and actually kinda have a hatred for the last two on the list. I do like mermaidman and barnacle boy 3 and the time travel one but even they are just ok not the best of those seasons. (Although anything good coming out of season 7 is good in and of itself)
Band Geeks in my opinion is slightly overated, mainly because people basically worship it to death.
i love spongebob,
Sameeeee
Earworm should be on here because I always found that one really lame
5. It's just ok.
4. Not overrated to me but I do find it worse than SB-129, yeah.
3. I really like the plot idea but it's not all that funny to me honestly, particularly the wallet meme, it's like Patrick is low-key evil. Still good though
Yeah, Ripped Pants always makes me hate Spongebob even more 😔😒 The joke gets old, and he fakes his accident just to beat a dead horse 😔
I like "My Pretty Seahorse" because of this:
🚲🦑🤸💥
Pizza Delivery is FAR overrated
Other episodes are funny too yes…but why is that one praised so much? It annoys me
It might be because of the ending, a barnaclehead getting some sweet sweet karma!
People like the dyamnic of Spongebob and Squidward. Its the same reason why people like graveyard shift so much.
I get why people would call it that because of nothing really happen in the story, but I personally wouldn't call it overrated. It's not as interesting as "Graveyard Shift", but it's still interesting as first SpongeBob/Squidward duo episode with a lot of good jokes and character interactions.
Pizza delivery is one of if not my favourite episode. But i can't blame you for saying its overrated
Are you positive Sand Castles in the Sand isn't even in your Top 10? It's kind of impossible for me to see how that garbage fest gets a free pass for ticking all the usual middle season tropes sans Squidward the Punching Bag and Krabs's Fall from Grace.
Make another top 5 or 10!
"Okay get in"
Ripped Pants is my favorite episode 😭😭😭😭
I always feel like if any Pre Movie Spongebob episode was released now
It would be instantly hated
Personally i think club spongebob and perfect chemistry are the most overrated since I found them both to be quite boring. I think the best episode is rather pizza delivery or secret box. I would say wormy but that gawd dawn horsefly jumpscare ruins the episode for me
Dang what an ending
The top 3 comments all don't understand what opinion means
I Can Accept Theses As Over Rated Thankfully None Were My Personal Favorites
As much as I disagree with some of these points, I'd much prefer a video like this rather than another circlejerky "NEW SPONGEBOB BAD !!!!" video
However, Ripped Pants looks like the greatest episode of the series compared to the terrible-ness Squid torture that would come directly after it..
band geeks, i really never understood why people love this episode at all tbh, its not really that funny at all besides the one part in the beginning where squidward is trying to teach them at the performance room
the rest of the episode has very strange pacing, overall isn’t that funny, and the ending scene, is just bad. Yes, squidward “wins” but sweet victory always just felt extremely out of place to me and the whole real people football crowd also felt extremely out of place, i dont hate the episode but for my entire life ive found it to be one of the weakest season 1-4 episodes.
Wow, everything you said couldn’t be more wrong.
@@quangamershyguyyz7166 ever heard of an opinion, you don’t have to agree with everything, that doesn’t mean you should claim people are just wrong for thinking something.
I find the camping episode & f.u.n the most overrated episodes in my opinion
Band geeks????????? (Please don’t hurt me)
Also I think No Weenies Allowed is pretty overrated
Which one of you want a comment lecture about the difference of a fact and a opinion
This video was a lot of effort for a bait post and it wasn't even that funny.
He’s entitled to his opinion and remember, you’re on his channel.
With the exception of rip pants, the rest are not overrated at all. You are over analyzing
Seasons 1-3 are overrated. Some of the episodes are worse then many episodes from later seasons..
Nice video
I like SpongeHenge..
Chocolate With Nuts would've been MY number one. I never understood the appeal of the episode, and never thought the "CHOCOLATE!" bit was funny.
YES
There are MULTIPLE scenes with someone screaming "CHOCOLATE!"
@@neolbioldey They last like 5 seconds each. There are other jokes you know?
@@MachoMan1123 but how do you know which one they were talking about?
Chocolate With Nuts is awesome
read the title as overhated lol
Bruh I hate Blast to the Past. It is so boring, too long, and it used to come on all the time. Made me audibly groan whenever it came on. Next to Good Neighbors.
I agree with you on Ripped Pants. As both a kid and as a an adult, I didn’t find it all that funny, nor do I understand why everyone considers it S tier.
Band geeks is overrated
L
@@krinkles147I'm honestly surprised BradenINSANE didn't include that episode(not that I would agree with him if he did as you would expect).
That's an overrated opinion
It's not the best episode but it's still good
true, Band Geeks is overrated, great ep but still
Band geeks in my opinion
That’s an opinion.
@@andynachos2045 he's right tho
@@juegosylugaresderuben8820 I didn’t say it was right or wrong, I said that it is in fact an opinion.

2
4
1
5

ok gen xer
@@WoodrowWilson-lz6nq I think patty hype is on the list that is because the episode is similar to culture shock.
I guess it's not everyones cup of tea but I think you're really missing out! My grandmother who's now 84 loved the first few seasons of SpongeBob and enjoyed watching them with all of us grandkids. The first few seasons are very heartfelt and sweet.
Me: Jellyfishing, Hello Bikini Bottom, Back to the Past and Born Again Krabs comes to mind.
