ive had my SSD for 2 years, im just now realizing i still haven't finished setting it up. thank you, i feel so upset and mad!! also you are super quiet, i was pretty much just following what you were doing, speakers maxxed
Thank you! You helped me install my first PCIe drive! Well done in all aspects, but one criticism: your voice is really soft. I would either speak up while recording, raise the mic sensitivity, or whatever else to make it louder. It was hard to hear on full volume. Nevertheless, thank you for this!
Hi Nick, thanks for watching and the feedback! I unfortunately started recording this with my dishwasher running and was not thinking. I tried to drown out the dishwasher sounds, but it lowered my voice volume, too.
Yes, and then when I had turned the volume way up, those loud noises were played (0:30-0:40) ! Better skip the intro and start watching 1 minute in. Then your voice is louder as well.
Awesome bro perfect it went smooth thanks for your help I watched a few other videos before yours they where horrible you are perfect in explaining exactly what you need to do without no bullshit I appreciate it. 👍

I will soon be replacing my older M.2 for a new one, and need to know how to transfer from the old one to the new. Do you have a how-to video on that? Thanks!!!
I just cant seem to find a place where it would go in, or rather i found something that looks similar, but does not look like there's enough space to fit this ssd in. Do the nvme ssds come in different sizes?
I already have an nv me installed on my motherboar but just recently got this one and expected it to come with the cover and screw but it did not. Is it easy to buy a cover/screw (probably not naming the parts correctly)
Thanks. The screw that tightens the 970 into the stand off is too short for the heat sink (that came with the Gigabyte MB). Should I run it without a heat sink, or is there a longer screw that I can get somewhere? Thanks.
@@EddieFreakI just checked my notes for Nov 2021, when I assembled the system. I could not find any mention. But I recall finding (or buying) the correct screw. All is fine and the computer still runs great.
Thanks for that. My X299 ASUS mobo has the heat sink tape you describe but it looks like plain double sided tape to my untrained eye. Yours was the only video I could find that explained what that actually is.
I need help just for a pc got an ssd after saving had a hdd before but it won’t find the ssd at all I’ve tried everything it shows up in my bios and something else but not disc management and I’m stuck
I just install this exact ssd in my motherboard. And when I went to format it, it was not an option and already had the NTFS letters. And I dropped a couple files and they loaded fine. I may need to split into partitions so I. Am looking for a how to on that.
I suspect the ssd you installed can only fit in the one you did since the other slot seems bigger. Also i have the same exact mobo and the tape was partly removed having as a result a bit of dust at the edge of one side (which i tried to clean a bit and ended up removing a bit of that foam like bit)
Just a side note about the thermal pad; some motherboards come with a thermal pad and some being already place on the heatsink. And if you use Nvme SSD with an already installed heat sink and thermal pad, I suggest not trying to remove the manufacturer’s heat pad and heat sink as you might and very easily can break the m.2 chip if enough force is applied. Make sure you check the right installation for your part and if you experience trouble it’s always best to get an expert’s opinion, sometimes even experts experience challenges however they’ve encountered many similar problems and in some way or another we’ve all broken parts and learnt from or mistake. Better learn from someone’s experience than paying the price yourself. Good day to you all.
also some thermal pads stick to the nvme drive and can not be removed. when trying to remove it, will destroy the nvme drive as the chips will pull off the board. I know as it happened with an Asus board.
Samsung have made a special format for the NVMe ssd. Instead of using NTFS you can use F2FS (Flash Friendly File System) it's safer for ssd and a lot faster ... beside that great vid ...

Hi Olheghtt, yes, you should be able to use any NVME for it; however, beware that there are also M.2 SATA drives which have slightly different slot configurations. As long as you stick with NVME, you should be good!
Is it not necessary to remove the Samsung sticker from the NVME drive itself, then put the heat sink over it ? Receiving my first NVME tomorrow, and not sure if i must or not.
Hello! I don't know if you'll see this, but my 970 did not come with any screws (pamplet says it doesn't ship with any, either), and so now I don't have any way to screw the M2 in. None of the department/hardware stores around me carry M2 screws, and all of the tech places are closed. I'm not sure what to do. I wish Samsung would have just included the .0002 cent screw with it!
Hi! Thanks for watching! Did you build the rest of your computer or did you buy a pre fabricated one? If you still have your motherboard box, the m.2 screws should be in there. If not, Newegg.com or Amazon should have some m.2 screw kits you can have shipped to you. Hope this helps!
@tYBoMB I bought a pre-built and upgrading over time. I wanted to avoid waiting on shipping for those screws, so I guess I'll head to my local tech shop when they open on Monday. Thank you for replying.
That sticky side under the heatsink is less to hold it in place and more for heat transfer. You should still screw down the drive before putting the heatsink on. You forgot that step.
Hi, thank you for watching. If you screw the drive down first, there would be no hole to screw the heat sink in because there would be a screw in the hole already.
@@tybomb my mistake!! I see now! My motherboards heat sink is longer and my drive was one hole lower so it needed to sit on its own riser and screw. My heat sink goes out to the 110mm and not the 80 like yours. So guess I have a longer heat sink than you did there. My mistake! 🤗
